Understanding factors associated with faculty intent to leave is critical for healthcare and human resources leadership within academic medical institutions in efforts to reduce faculty intent to leave. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune condition that causes chronic joint pain and destruction. The current standard regimen of monotherapy disease modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) treatments may not be as effective as that of combination therapy of a DMARD and a biologic agent in treating RA. Over the last decade, opioid misuse has emerged as a major problem in the United States. The extreme increase in overdose deaths affects both public health and social welfare in north central Florida. Social workers play a major role in the delivery of treatment for opioid misuse. AbstractThis doctoral project addressed the issue of prescribing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) as the first-line treatment for insomnia. Despite being less efficacious, medications are the most preferred form of treatment for insomnia among most psychiatric clinicians. Providers at the clinical site where the project took place were foregoing CBT in preference to medications. Providers preferred the pharmacotherapeutic approach due to its ease of prescription compared to the psychotherapeutic intervention. An educational program was provided for the providers regarding the advantages of prescribing CBT over medications, for the treatment of insomnia. Endometrial cancer is the most common gynecologic cancer in the United States with recent trends showing a continued increase in incidence and mortality. Prognosis is influenced by cancer stage at diagnosis and differs by race/ethnicity. Researchers have documented poorer survival among Blacks than Whites diagnosed with endometrial cancer. The 5-year survival rates for women with endometrial cancer is 81%; while survival for White and Black women are 84% and 62%, respectively. AbstractBurnout has plagued human and social services professionals at higher rates than most other professions resulting in the need for interventions and research. The purpose of this quasi-experimental, nonequivalent control groups design was to examine to what degree self-care affects the stress levels of children’s social service professionals in a nonprofit agency in a southern U.S. state. Cognitive activation theory served as the theoretical framework. Nonprobability purposive sampling strategies recruited 77 participants, 21 years of age and older. Lack of exercise and obesity are prominent social problems in the U.S. population. Therefore, understanding the experiences that promote or hinder motivation and exercise adherence is important. A total of 15 adult participants who engaged in CrossFit for a minimum of 6 months were recruited for this generic qualitative study using purposeful sampling methods. Neisseria gonorrhoeae has been on the rise in the State of Florida since 2013. Florida currently follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for identifying those at-risk for gonorrhea and drug resistant gonorrhea infections. Georgia’s College and Career Ready Performance Index for 2014-2016 showed that students with disabilities (SwD) did not meet performance targets when taught in co-taught inclusion classrooms with both general education teachers (GET) and special education teachers (SET) in the classrooms. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in teacher opinions of co-taught inclusion classrooms and their ability to teach SwD between GET and SET. Counselor education and supervision (CES) doctoral students face various challenges throughout their doctoral journey. A quantitative, correlational study was conducted to determine if there is a predictive relationship between the independent variables of perceived social support and phase of program (core courses, internship, or dissertation) and dependent variables general health, somatic symptoms, anxiety/insomnia, social dysfunction, and severe depression in PhD CES students (N = 73). The human papilloma virus is the necessary agent in the development of cervical cancer. It is through screening exams like the Papanicolaou (Pap) test that cervical changes can be identified, and cervical cancer can be diagnosed in the early stage of cancer. The Pap test has aided in decreasing the rate of cervical cancer and the morbidity of cervical cancer.
