Distinguishing Relational Turbulence, Marital Satisfaction, And Parenting Stress As Predictors Of Ineffective Arguing Among Parents Of Children With Autism, Kellie St Cyr Brisini, Denise Haunani Solomon

Relational turbulence theory suggests that relational turbulence causes pervasive patterns of dysfunctional communication in romantic relationships, such as an inability to resolve conflicts. Other research traditions link marital conflict to marital satisfaction and also exposure to stress. This study assesses the discriminant validity of relational turbulence by examining its association with reports of ineffective arguing, above and beyond the associations with marital satisfaction and parenting stress. The study tests the theoretical claims within the high stress context of parents raising children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The seminal model of CEO dismissals utilizes four sociopolitical forces that operate together in determining whether a CEO will be dismissed. Missing from the sociopolitical forces of CEO dismissals is executive deviance. We propose the inclusion of executive deviance as the fifth sociopolitical force in CEO dismissals, which is not limited to the deviant actions of the executive, but also the executive’s subordinates. Within the comprehensive CEO dismissal framework, the effect of executive deviance on head coach dismissals in the National Football League (NFL) from the 2000–2001 to 2015–2016 season is examined using four levels of executive deviance: (a) deviance …

Christian Nationalism And Views Of Immigrants In The United States: Is The Relationship Stronger For The Religiously Inactive?, Samuel Stroope, Heather M. Rackin, Paul Froese

Previous research has shown that Christian nationalism is linked to nativism and immigrant animus, while religious service attendance is associated with pro-immigrant views. The findings highlight the importance of distinguishing between religious ideologies and practices when considering how religion affects politics. Using a national sample of U.S. adults, we analyze immigrant views by measuring levels of agreement or disagreement that undocumented immigrants from Mexico are “mostly dangerous criminals.” We find that Christian nationalism is inversely related to pro-immigrant views for both the religiously active and inactive. Undergraduate interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary computing-related STEM programs are proliferating extensively. Each of these programs requires a robust computing component to be integrated into the curriculum. However, including an introductory, programmingoriented sequence designed for CS majors is not always the best fit for these multifaceted programs. In this work in progress paper, we set out to investigate possibilities and issues for the computing component, focusing on three fields: bioinformatics, data science, and cybersecurity. We explore commonalities and differences, and discuss initial plans to test our hypotheses. In doing so, we consider data organization, data acquisition, and a preliminary survey design.

This thesis attempted to answer how collegiate student-athlete runners navigated their running identity through the COVID-19 pandemic. This international health crisis served as an identity threat to the participants in this study as it cancelled outdoor track and field season in the spring of 2020. The main goal was to investigate how student-athlete runners navigated their athletic identity during COVID-19 and the social and psychological costs associated with said navigation. The Fourth Amendment protects people against “unreasonable searches” by police. To operationalize this protection, courts must have a workable definition of a search. Since 1967, the Supreme Court has used the two-step Katz test as a primary measure of when a search has occurred. Under Katz, a court will find that something has been subject to search when (1) the individual in question has a subjective expectation of privacy in that thing and (2) such an expectation of privacy would be reasonable. There has been a sharp increase in official communications from government agencies and elected officials that occur initially, primarily, and even solely, on social media. The Federal Records Act (FRA), Presidential Records Act (PRA) and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) govern the retention, access, preservation and disclosure of records produced by the federal government. Sexism courses pervasively through every legal and cultural system humanity is subject to, and thus sex trafficking is not unscathed by the ravages of misogyny. At the core of this crime exists a fundamental issue: pervasive patriarchal and traditional gender roles. Sex trafficking relies on the foundational perception of women as objectified and dehumanized sex objects. Therefore, countries that prioritize women in domestic roles are more likely to source trafficking. Research corroborates this claim, arguing that less developed, wealthy, and politically stable countries often serve as source countries. Self-disclosure on social networking sites (SNSs) leads to social capital development, connectedness, and relationship building. Due to several benefits associated with this behavior, self-disclosure has become a subject of research over the last few years. The current study investigates the antecedents of self-disclosure under the lens of the technology acceptance model (TAM). The research is quantitative, and the data were collected from 400 Pakistani Facebook users with a variety of demographic characteristics. งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์พหุวัฒนธรรมและประชาธิปไตยเชิงวัฒนธรรมผ่านพื้นที่ความเชื่อเรื่องนัตในพื้นที่มัณฑะเลย์ ประเทศเมียนมา ผลการวิจัยพบว่าในพื้นที่ความเชื่อเรื่องนัตมีหลายฝ่ายเข้ามาเกี่ยวข้อง ทั้งฝ่ายผู้ปกครองและฝ่ายประชาชนผู้นับถือนัต โดยฝ่ายผู้ปกครองพยายามเข้ามาควบคุมจัดการหรือกระทั่งทำลายความเชื่อเรื่องนัตในบางยุค อันเป็นลักษณะของความรุนแรงทางวัฒนธรรม อย่างไรก็ตามการจัดการควบคุมดังกล่าวก็ไม่สามารถทำได้เด็ดขาดในระดับที่ผู้คนรู้สึกเป็นพวกเดียวกันได้ เอกภาพทางวัฒนธรรมความเชื่อไม่เคยเกิดขึ้น ปรากฏเป็นการต่อรองและการประนีประนอมอยู่เสมอ กระทั่งพื้นที่ความเชื่อเรื่องนัตสามารถเปิดรับเอาความหลากหลายเข้ามาอยู่ร่วมกัน แม้การเมืองเมียนมาปัจจุบันจะยังค่อนไปทางเผด็จการ แต่พหุวัฒนธรรมที่สะท้อนให้เห็นในพื้นที่ความเชื่อเรื่องนัต ก็จะเป็นปราการสำคัญในการป้องกันกระแสสุดโต่ง และจะเป็นพื้นฐานสำคัญรองรับกระแสการขยายตัวของเมือง ตลอดจนการพัฒนาประชาธิปไตยของเมียนมาในอนาคต

เบื้องหลังของทุกนโยบายการพัฒนาประกอบด้วยความคิดทางการเมือง ซึ่งรัฐอาศัยอำนาจในการประกอบสร้าง “ความรู้” และ “แนวทาง” การพัฒนาโดยมีเป้าหมายให้เกิดผลดังเช่นที่รัฐต้องการ บทความวิจัยนี้มุ่งศึกษาความคิดทางการเมืองไทยในนโยบายการพัฒนา โดยอาศัยแนวทางการวิเคราะห์วาทกรรมเชิงวิพากษ์ ซึ่งตัวบทที่เลือกมาศึกษา ได้แก่ คู่มือการขับเคลื่อนการพัฒนาประเทศผ่านโครงการไทยนิยม ยั่งยืน ที่รัฐบาลคณะรักษาความสงบแห่งชาติ (คสช.) เป็นผู้ผลิตและตั้งใจถ่ายทอดเนื้อหาดังกล่าวให้ประชาชนผ่านการจัดเวทีในหมู่บ้านและชุมชนก่อนการเลือกตั้งในปี พ.ศ. 2562 ตัวบทดังกล่าวสะท้อนความคิดทางการเมืองของรัฐบาล คสช. ในเรื่อง 1) ประชาธิปไตยไทยนิยมและสากลนิยม 2) การเลือกตั้งคนดี 3) รัฐอุปถัมภ์ และ 4) ประชาชนเป็นผู้รับการอุปถัมภ์ ซึ่งความคิดและปฏิบัติการทางวาทกรรมของรัฐบาล คสช. เป็นการผสมผสานรูปแบบดั้งเดิมและรูปแบบใหม่ ด้วยหวังว่าจะสามารถรักษาความเป็นอำนาจนิยม พร้อมไปกับการได้รับการยอมรับจากประชาชน ทั้งหมดนี้สามารถเข้าใจได้ผ่านบริบททางเศรษฐกิจ สังคมและการเมืองของนโยบายการพัฒนาของไทยตั้งแต่อดีตสู่ปัจจุบัน

บทความนี้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่ออธิบายเรื่องความเข้มแข็งของระบอบอำนาจนิยมภายใต้การนำของพรรคคอมมิวนิสต์จีน ผ่านคำถามที่ว่าอะไรเป็นปัจจัยสำคัญที่ทำให้ระบอบพรรค-รัฐ ดำรงอยู่ได้ในสังคมจีน โดยหลังจากการประกาศใช้นโยบายปฏิรูปและเปิดประเทศในช่วงปลายทศวรรษที่ 1970 ประเทศจีนได้เติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจอย่างก้าวกระโดด ทำให้เกิดชนชั้นกลางและผู้อาศัยในเขตเมืองจำนวนมาก ซึ่งเงื่อนไขทางเศรษฐกิจและสังคมที่ว่านี้สอดคล้องกับแม่แบบการพัฒนาไปสู่สังคมประชาธิปไตย แต่ทว่าจวบจนถึงปัจจุบัน พรรคคอมมิวนิสต์จีนยังคงอยู่ในอำนาจอย่างมีเสถียรภาพ   บทความนี้เสนอข้อถกผ่านมิติของอำนาจ โดยเสนอว่าสาเหตุที่พรรคคอมมิวนิสต์จีนยังคงปกครองประเทศจีนอยู่ได้นั้น เพราะพรรคมีอำนาจเหนือภัยคุกคามที่อาจเกิดขึ้นและกระทบต่อพรรค โดยอำนาจของพรรคคอมมิวนิสต์จีนนั้นแบ่งออกเป็น 3 มิติ มิติแรกคืออำนาจในการบังคับ ปราบปราม ผ่านการใช้กองกำลังทางการทหารและตำรวจ อำนาจมิติที่สองคืออำนาจในการกีดกันประเด็นที่สุ่มเสี่ยง อันตรายต่อการรักษาสถานภาพเดิมไม่ให้เข้าสู่กระบวนการตัดสินใจ ผ่านการคัดสรรสมาชิกพรรค การปกปิดข้อมูล ข่าวสาร และการโฆษณาชวนเชื่อ และอำนาจมิติที่สามคืออำนาจในการครอบงำทางเลือกของประชาชน ให้หลีกเลี่ยงการกระทำที่ขัดแย้งกับผลประโยชน์ของพรรค

ความรุนแรงต่อผู้สูงอายุ : สถานการณ์ สาเหตุ และการรับมือ, ปุณยวัจน์ ไตรจุฑากาญจน์

บทความวิจัยเรื่อง “ความรุนแรงต่อผู้สูงอายุ: สถานการณ์ สาเหตุ และการรับมือ” เป็นการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาถึงสถานการณ์ปัญหาความรุนแรงต่อผู้สูงอายุของสังคมไทยในปัจจุบันและสาเหตุของความรุนแรงต่อผู้สูงอายุ รวมถึงแนวทางการสนับสนุนจากเครือข่ายในการป้องกันและแก้ไขความรุนแรงต่อผู้สูงอายุ ดำเนินการใน 5 พื้นที่ ได้แก่ กรุงเทพมหานคร ปทุมธานี เชียงใหม่ หนองบัวลำภู และสงขลา จากกลุ่มตัวอย่างทั้งหมดจำนวน 1,215 ราย ผลการศึกษาพบว่าผู้สูงอายุส่วนใหญ่ถูกกระทำความรุนแรงทางด้านอารมณ์และจิตใจมากที่สุด ซึ่งสาเหตุความรุนแรงส่วนใหญ่มาจากภาวะความเครียดจากบุคคลที่เกี่ยวข้องอันสืบเนื่องมาจากปัญหาทางด้านความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างบุคคลภายในครอบครัวหรือคนใกล้ชิด ซึ่งผู้กระทำความรุนแรงส่วนใหญ่มักเป็นคู่สมรส ลูกหลาน ญาติพี่น้อง คนใกล้ชิดเพื่อน และเพื่อนบ้าน ที่ต้องพึ่งพาอาศัยซึ่งกันและกัน และแนวทางการสนับสนุนจากเครือข่ายในการป้องกันและแก้ไขความรุนแรงต่อผู้สูงอายุ พบว่าผู้สูงอายุส่วนใหญ่จะได้รับการสนับสนุนในด้านของการให้คำปรึกษา แนะนำ ให้กำลังใจจากสมาชิกในครอบครัว เครือญาติ เพื่อนบ้านและทีมสหวิชาชีพ

บทความนี้อภิปรายปัจจัยทางสังคมที่มีผลต่อนโยบายสาธารณะ  ในเบื้องแรก ความขัดแย้งระหว่างปัจเจกชนและกลุ่มหลากหลายเป็นเหตุปัจจัยของนโยบายสาธารณะที่ช่วยจัดการความขัดแย้งนั้น  และความขัดแย้งบางอย่างในสังคมมีความเกี่ยวข้องกับสิ่งแวดล้อมด้วย ซึ่งส่งสัญญาณความจำเป็นของนโยบายสาธารณะ กลุ่มที่หลากหลายก็แข่งกันผลักดันสาระของนโยบายสาธารณะตามที่ตนต้องการ สังคมต้องการนโยบายสาธารณะเพื่อตอบสนองการแบ่งแยกชนชั้นทางสังคมและปัญหาของความไม่เท่าเทียมที่มักจะมาจากระบบของการแบ่งแยกชนชั้น  และปัญหาสังคมเป็นอีกหนึ่งปัจจัยสำคัญที่ตัดสินรูปลักษณะของนโยบายสาธารณะ โดยที่ปัญหาสังคมนั้นมีความละเอียดอ่อน หรือไม่คงที่ ซึ่งหมายถึงว่าคนในสังคมมีมุมมองที่แตกต่างหลากหลายเกี่ยวกับปัญหาสังคม  ดังนั้นการนิยามปัญหาและประเด็นทางสังคมถูกใช้เป็นเครื่องมือในการโน้มน้าวทิศทางและสาระของนโยบาย  คุณค่าและแนวความคิดล้วนมีที่ทางอยู่ในมุมมองต่อปัญหาสังคม  บางคุณค่าและแนวความคิดครอบงำการนิยามประเด็นปัญหา ซึ่งก็จะกลายเป็นตัวการกำหนดสาระและทิศทางของนโยบายสาธารณะไปโดยปริยาย และสุดท้าย ความความคิดเห็นสาธารณะและผลประโยชน์สาธารณะ ซึ่งมีความหมายในตัวเองที่แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ ก็เป็นตัวการกำหนดทิศทางของนโยบายสาธารณะอย่างมากได้ทั้งสองอย่าง

บทความเรื่องนี้กล่าวถึงบทบาทของ AI (Artificial Intelligence) หรือปัญญาประดิษฐ์ ในการนำมาใช้ในงานด้านการบริหารทรัพยากรบุคคล โดยกล่าวถึงวงจรชีวิตของ AI ในกระบวนการบริหารทรัพยากรมนุษย์และประเด็นท้าทายในการนำ AI เข้ามาใช้ในแต่ละช่วงของวงจรชีวิตไปจนถึงการนำ AI เข้ามาใช้ในกระบวนการบริหารทรัพยากรมนุษย์  คือทำหน้าที่ช่วยเหลือฝ่ายทรัพยากรมนุษย์ในกระบวนการทำงานตั้งแต่การรับสมัครพนักงานและคัดกรองผู้สมัคร การสัมภาษณ์ การจัดการสวัสดิการ การพัฒนาศักยภาพของพนักงาน การจัดทำเงินเดือน ไปจนถึงการประเมินผลการปฏิบัติงาน และการเลื่อนขั้นเงินเดือนของพนักงาน อย่างไรก็ตามบทความชิ้นนี้ยังชี้ให้เห็นถึงข้อจำกัดบางประการที่ AI ยังไม่สามารถทำหรือมีเทียบเท่ามนุษย์ได้ เช่น ทักษะทางด้านอารมณ์ (soft skills) แม้ในท้ายที่สุดต้องยอมรับว่ากิจกรรมหรืองานบางอย่าง AI ควรเข้ามาแทนที่มนุษย์ เพื่อความสะดวกและความรวดเร็วในการปฏิบัติงาน อย่างไรก็ตามก็ยังมีกิจกรรมหรืองานบางอย่างที่ AI ไม่สามารถเข้ามาแทนที่มนุษย์ได้ แต่กำเนิดมาเพื่อเป็นเครื่องมือที่จะช่วยเหลือการทำงานของมนุษย์ให้มีประสิทธิภาพและประสิทธิผลเพิ่มมากขึ้น

งานวิจัยเรื่องนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาสถานภาพและวิพากษ์องค์ความรู้ทางด้านทฤษฎีเกี่ยวกับการกระจายอำนาจสู่ท้องถิ่นในปัจจุบัน รวมถึงจะเสนอแนะประเด็นวิจัยและวิธีวิทยาหลักในการขับเคลื่อนการวิจัยในอนาคต ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยที่จะใช้เป็นการสังเคราะห์งานวิจัยเชิงวิพากษ์  ผลการศึกษาพบว่ามีแนวคิดเชิงทฤษฎีดังกล่าวทั้งหมด 5 แนวคิด คือ แนวคิดท้องถิ่นนิยมกระแสหลัก แนวคิดท้องถิ่นนิยมแบบใหม่ แนวคิดท้องถิ่นนิยมทวนกระแส แนวคิดทฤษฎีการเลือกสาธารณะ และแนวคิดระดมมวลชนมีส่วนร่วม เมื่อวิพากษ์ทฤษฎีกระจายอำนาจทั้ง 5 แนวคิด จะพบว่ามีจุดแข็งและจุดอ่อนด้วยกันทั้งหมด การวิจัยเพื่อการกระจายอำนาจสู่ท้องถิ่นในอนาคตควรบูรณาการประเด็นวิจัยเกี่ยวกับการออกแบบสถาบันทางการปกครอง การสร้างระบบบริหารจัดการงานสาธารณะโดยเครือข่ายชุมชน การเสริมสร้างสมรรถนะของชุมชน การกระจายอำนาจการคลังท้องถิ่น และการพัฒนาระบบบริหารจัดการแบบมีส่วนร่วม ส่วนวิธีวิทยาในการวิจัยเพื่อกระจายอำนาจสู่ท้องถิ่นในอนาคตควรใช้แนวการวิจัยเชิงสหวิทยาการแบบข้ามพ้นสาขา

มิติระหว่างประเทศของกระบวนการปฏิรูปทางการเมือง และเศรษฐกิจของเมียนมา (ค.ศ. 2007-2015), ม.ล.พินิตพันธุ์ บริพัตร

บทความวิจัยศึกษามิติระหว่างประเทศของกระบวนการปฏิรูปทางการเมืองและเศรษฐกิจของเมียนมา ใน 3 ด้าน ได้แก่ การลงทุนโดยตรงจากต่างประเทศและการพัฒนาโครงสร้างพื้นฐานทางเศรษฐกิจ การพัฒนาระบบการอภิบาลประชาธิปไตย และกระบวนการสันติภาพและการเจรจาปรองดอง ตลอดจนวิเคราะห์บริบทระหว่างประเทศและตัวแสดงภายนอก ได้แก่ รัฐบาลและองค์การระหว่างประเทศต่าง ๆ ว่ามีบทบาทและอิทธิพลต่อกระบวนการประชาธิปไตยนับตั้งแต่ปี ค.ศ. 2007 ถึง ค.ศ. 2015 หรือไม่ อย่างไร โดยอาศัยการศึกษาเรื่องกระบวนการพัฒนาประชาธิปไตย (democratization) และการสถาปนาความมั่นคงสถาพรของระบอบประชาธิปไตย (democratic consolidation) เป็นกรอบความคิดสำคัญ การเปลี่ยนผ่านและกระบวนการประชาธิปไตยของเมียนมาถูกริเริ่ม ขับเคลื่อน และยังคงครอบงำโดยรัฐบาลทหารและกองทัพ อีกทั้งการพัฒนาประชาธิปไตยเข้มแข็ง จะยังคงขึ้นอยู่กับเจตนารมณ์และความจริงจังของรัฐบาลที่มาจากการเลือกตั้ง กองทัพ และความสัมพันธ์ของทั้ง 2 ฝ่าย ดังนั้นตัวแสดงภายนอกจึงมีอิทธิพลอย่างจำกัดในการส่งเสริมกระบวนการพัฒนาประชาธิปไตยของเมียนมา อย่างไรก็ดี งานวิจัยพบว่าตัวแสดงภายนอกยังสามารถสนับสนุนกระบวนการปฏิรูปประเทศที่สำคัญและจำเป็นต่อการวางรากฐานเพื่อการมีประชาธิปไตยที่เข้มแข็งในเมียนมาได้ในอนาคต โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในด้านการพัฒนาเชิงสถาบันและการพัฒนาท้องถิ่น
