What’S Happened To My Church, South Church Andover, Ucc? Individuals Change Within A Community Of Faith, Changing The Church, Evangelical To Progressive, Janet Clarke
Religious & Theological Studies Student Work
My college admission letter dated August 25, 2020, the personal statement for my college application, included here, states my heartfelt concern about the declining church, for my family, for all people, and for society in general.
"My faith journey has been so rich and informs who I am, as a child of God, living in God's Grace, and Love, and Forgiveness, and taught me so much of how to live in the wider universe, teaching what was unavailable from my family or schooling. I am so grateful for God’s Grace and Peace, and I can not understand how others live …
Chaplaincy For The Prisoners And The Penitentiary System In Ukraine (1991-2021), Valentyna Kuryliak, Ivan Ostashchuk, Mariia Ovchar
Chaplaincy For The Prisoners And The Penitentiary System In Ukraine (1991-2021), Valentyna Kuryliak, Ivan Ostashchuk, Mariia Ovchar
Occasional Papers on Religion in Eastern Europe
This article examines the quality of work of religious organizations in places of deprivation of liberty, as well as their interaction with the penitentiary service of Ukraine. It was revealed that the chaplaincy ministry occupies an important place in the Christian churches of Ukraine. In the early 1990s, ministry in Ukrainian prisons was allowed, but most of the churches were at the stage of survival, so they were not able to carry out active work in prisons. At the legislative level, prisoners have ensured freedom of religion, and the penitentiary service was obliged to provide access to representatives of each …
More Sick, More Spiritual? More Research Needed: A Review Of Spirituality In Youth With Chronic Illness Compared With Their Healthy Peers, Carrie Ives
Religious & Theological Studies Student Work
Purpose: This review seeks to discover whether youth with chronic illness are more spiritual than their healthy peers.
Methods: A total of 111 articles were gathered via MackSearch and reference list evaluation. Of those, 63 were ruled out by title or abstract. Forty-three sources were appropriate for background reference, leaving five articles for review.
Findings: Based on the reviewed studies, any increase in spirituality among chronically ill youth compared to their healthy peers is minimal. There is suspicion that the majority of the assessment tools used were not adequately sensitive for the adolescent population.
Discussion: Assessments that are validated for …

Spiritual Care: The Overlooked Need In End-Of-Life Care, Michael Howard Vrmeer
Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarly Projects
Background: A number of studies have validated the use of the FICA tool to evaluate a patient’s spirituality. FICA has been helpful in many palliative care settings to screen for spiritual problems that influence the patient's overall health. Aim: The project was a quality improvement initiative with the purpose of implementing the FICA tool as part of the admission assessment to increase chaplain referrals for inpatient palliative care services. Methods: The staff received an in-service on using the FICA questions on admission, and a prompt to complete the screen was placed at each work station in the project setting. Results: …
Equipping Military Chaplains With A Framework For Mental Wellness: A Qualitative Descriptive Study, Stephanie Okolo
Equipping Military Chaplains With A Framework For Mental Wellness: A Qualitative Descriptive Study, Stephanie Okolo
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Although it is said that the sight of a battlefield after combat can fill princes with a love of peace and haunt them with the horrors of war, the mental health effects of war on soldiers are often frustratingly difficult to comprehend. It is, however, clear that warzones and the general environments in which deployed soldiers work can have negative impacts on their mental health. Military chaplains work closely with deployed soldiers and should be well-equipped with the knowledge to help them understand their mental health needs. It is important that they possess the right skills to do this well. …
Enhancing The Emotional Wellbeing Of Church Leadership At Trinity Baptist Church, Arron David Mcguffee
Enhancing The Emotional Wellbeing Of Church Leadership At Trinity Baptist Church, Arron David Mcguffee
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Effective church leaders are efficient in management of their emotional health. Research has diagnosed that most churches maintain dysfunctional learning environments because of emotionally unhealthy leadership. Dysfunctional environments are conducive to acclimatizing members to ill doctrine: methods instead of the mission, events instead of evangelism, expositors instead of exposures, and promote rituals instead of a righteous Savior. Emotionally unhealthy church leaders’ practice and promote democratic efforts instead of theocratic. Assessment instrumentation was utilized. The assessment implemented two credible tools, one for emotional maturity and the other for discipleship. Research invitations were distributed to twenty church leaders at Trinity Baptist Church …

Servitudes Done "Proper"Ly: Propriety, Not Contract Law, Elizabeth Elia
Servitudes Done "Proper"Ly: Propriety, Not Contract Law, Elizabeth Elia
Faculty Scholarship
The law of servitudes has changed dramatically in the last hundred years. Legal scholars have been successful in documenting these changes in case law, but less successful in articulating a unified set of principles that guide the current law of servitudes. One explanation that received significant attention is the idea that efficient recording systems in the United States have liberated property owners from the constraints of traditional property laws disfavoring servitudes and have allowed these owners the broader freedoms of contract law. However, this explanation, and the sweeping common law reforms that flow from it, have not resonated with courts. …

With Due Respect For Humanity: Engaging Affectivity Through Simulation In Catholic Seminary Formation, Marie Diane Pitt-Payne
With Due Respect For Humanity: Engaging Affectivity Through Simulation In Catholic Seminary Formation, Marie Diane Pitt-Payne
Dissertations (1934 -)
Since 1992, Catholic seminaries have approached the education of future priests through a lens of four areas of formation: intellectual, human, pastoral, and spiritual. Although human formation is considered foundational in the formation process, it has not been effectively integrated into seminary curriculum. The language of integral personalism was introduced into the formation landscape by Pope John Paul II, but this anthropology has not sufficiently informed seminary pedagogy. There is a still a subordination of the affective sphere in seminaries, particularly in intellectual formation. Medical schools have developed a pedagogical method that inserts real emotion into the educational process. This …
First Responder Chaplaincy: Sending Sources As Key Social Support Structures, Christopher Alan Bassett
First Responder Chaplaincy: Sending Sources As Key Social Support Structures, Christopher Alan Bassett
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Police and fire chaplaincy comprises an emerging ministry profession that is underrepresented in academic study. This study addresses the problem of support structure inadequacies among First Responder Chaplains (FRCs) which create conditions that lead to burnout. The study examines their often-problematic connections to churches, denominations, and other endorsing agencies (sending sources). The purpose of the project is to assess those connections and provide remediation inadequacies. The thesis project examines Chaplaincy Organizational Agencies (COAs) and develops solutions for FRCs to build better initial and ongoing relationships with their sending sources. The thesis suggests that chaplains who are properly affirmed, supported, and …
Biblical Emotional Intelligence In Relation To Clinical Pastoral Education, Deborah Ann Digel
Biblical Emotional Intelligence In Relation To Clinical Pastoral Education, Deborah Ann Digel
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This study addressed the education of biblical emotional intelligence among chaplains and pastors in promoting self-care in ministry. A literature review revealed that research projects had not fully explored the relationship between biblical emotional intelligence and clinical pastoral education. This project explored biblical emotional intelligence as a teaching method that bridges the gap between pastors' clinical pastoral education and healthy emotional well-being. Emotional intelligence is a field that is associated with success in business and ministry. Pastors and chaplains are not addressing the lack of biblical emotional intelligence in their training and how it can affect ministry. This study aimed …

The Intellectual Diet In Pastoral Spaces Of Activity In Digital Design Education, Andreas Lanig
The Intellectual Diet In Pastoral Spaces Of Activity In Digital Design Education, Andreas Lanig
Learn X Design Conference Series
During lockdown, students are excluded from the inspiring learning space of the university. Students receive a different "intellectual diet" here than they do in the university. In the studio learning of the traditional face-to-face university, the artistic and cognitive impulses are curated with a design pedagogical concept. This concept contains visual, intellectual and social impulses. This concept did not exist in the previous three semesters - it was left to the respective family and home environment of the students during the lockdown. While this is generally the case for distance learning students, it was exacerbated during the lockdown. Students operate …

"I Can Sing And Tell A Tale:" Perception And The Self-Reflexive Nature Of The Old English Poet, Danielle Williams
"I Can Sing And Tell A Tale:" Perception And The Self-Reflexive Nature Of The Old English Poet, Danielle Williams
English Theses, Dissertations, and Student Creative Activity
More than one contemporary scholar has written about the “search” for the Anglo-Saxon oral poet. They consider historical texts and poetry and every other possible place where some record of who the Anglo-Saxon scop may have been might be found. Some claim to recognize the Old English poet by the end of their search while others declare the entire pursuit to be futile for lack of substantial evidence. This study is somewhat of a combination of the two. Each chapter does take part in the search for the Old English poet figure, but it is not for the sake of …
