The Influence Of Teleconnection Patterns On Renewable Energy Resources, John Kyle Bergerson
The Influence Of Teleconnection Patterns On Renewable Energy Resources, John Kyle Bergerson
Master's Theses
Energy providers are shifting their supply from carbon based forms of energy to renewable sources in response to policy changes aimed at reducing pollution and anthropogenic influence on the environment. Wind and solar energies are notable sources that have been adopted around the globe and are increasing in installation and efficiency, but relying on weather-dependent sources of energy has limitations. Variability in energy supply and demand becomes further dependent on the state of the climate, and thus predictability of that state is critical. Climate modes are correlated with climate variables and are used to make mid-term (>10 days), seasonal, …

Experiment And Simulation Platform For Oasis-Desert Symbiotic Relationship (Odp), Yan Li, Xinjun Zheng, Yuguang Wang, Guiqing Xu, Ran Liu
Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Chinese Version)
Junggar Basin is a typical arid inland region in the northern temperate zone of the Earth. The surrounding high mountains form runoff, which flows into the basin and develops oasis. Oasis and desert are interdependent. Oasis needs to leach out its naturally accumulated salts through drainage. This drainage provides water and nutrients to desert vegetation. Desert vegetation, in turn, provides an ecological protection for oasis. Hence, oasis and desert have a symbiotic relationship. With excessive exploitation of land and water resources with water-saving technologies, salts cannot be leached out of the oasis region anymore. As a result, the groundwater level …

Performance Analysis Of Propagation In Vhf Military Tactical Communication System, Azita Laily Yusof, Hafizi Halim, Norsuzila Ya'acob, Nur Haidah Mohd Hanapiah
Baghdad Science Journal
The main challenge of military tactical communication systems is the accessibility of relevant information on the particular operating environment required for the determination of the waveform's ideal use. The existing propagation model focuses mainly on broadcasting and commercial wireless communication with a highs transceiver antenna that is not suitable for numerous military tactical communication systems. This paper presents a study of the path loss model related to radio propagation profile within the suburban in Kuala Lumpur. The experimental path loss modeling for VHF propagation was collected from various suburban settings for the 30-88 MHz frequency range. This experiment was highly …

Study Of The Diversity Of Soil Animals Community In The Songnen Plain Grassland Of China, Xiuqin Yin, Tingcheng Zhu
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
This paper dealt with the diversity in eight habitat soil animals communities in Songnen plain grassland. The results showed the better habitat condition the higher diversity index of soil animals, and vice-versa. The diversity of soil animals communities correlated positively with soil organic matter, total nitrogen, and negatively with soil pH; there was a poor correlation with soil water content and total soil phosphorus. The diversity of soil animals communities decreased with increasing depth of soil layer and has surface-collection.

Green house Cultures or the New Age of Agrarian Capitalism in Morocco:The Case of Souss-Massa
In this text we will try to analyze the socio-geographic and economic issues of the development of this new agricultural strategy. At first glance, it should be noted that the few research works which have tackled the theme of “protected crops” in Morocco have been rather interested in the technical aspects of this new agricultural practice (Ghallab, 1986), (Tazi, 1986) . As well as the International Meeting which was devoted to this theme in the Mediterranean region (colloquium, 1996)was, above all, the opportunity to exchange …

Ancestral Traditions and Environmental Protection at Jes Kabye of North Togo
The kabyé region in the North of Togo is particularly for the study of the main role of the density of population and the cultura land religious values in the management and protection of the natural environment. The kabyé have lived this region for a very long time and are said to be the natives, something that is rare in Africa. The individual is intimately linked to this physical environment (soil, water, vegetation and fauna) and spiritual environment (spiritual mediators “Agolma” between him and God “Esso” his creator). Broadband Access, District Policy, And Student Opportunities For Remote Learning During Covid-19 School Closures, Susan Kemper Patrick, Jason A. Grissom, S. Colby Woods, Urleaka W. Newsome
Teaching and Learning Faculty Research
We conceptualize students’ opportunities to learn remotely during the initial school closures associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. We then examine variation in remote instruction using an original statewide survey of teachers in Tennessee, deployed just a few weeks into the closures. Using three-level logistic regression models, we explore potential predictors of regular remote instruction, including prepandemic measures of broadband access, the demographic composition of schools, and measures of district policy responses created from districts’ public COVID-19 plans. We find that teachers in schools serving more economically disadvantaged students and in rural districts are less likely to report regular remote instruction, …

Economics and Finance in Indonesia
The Special Allocation Fund is distributed to specific areas to aid them in funding special regional activities that follow national interests. Giving regional government's broad autonomy is meant to hasten the realization of social welfare, as seen by reducing poverty. This study aims to examine the influence of the Special Allocation Fund for education, health, and infrastructure on the poverty rate in Indonesia, using the Poverty Gap Index (P1) as a proxy for the poverty rate. The study employed annual data from 33 Indonesian provinces from 2015 to 2018 and panel data regression analysis utilizing the Fixed Effects Model (FEM). …

The quantitative study was an ex-post-facto study design to explore specific factors and their magnitude that predicts the successful matriculation toward and achievement of a bachelor’s degree by Black students enrolled at a PWI in the deep South. The researcher pursued to explore the direction and magnitude that fall into the following three categories on several measures the matriculation progress toward and deficit of a bachelor’s degree: student demographics characteristics, socio-economic background and economic status, and pre-and post-admission academic readiness and performance. The study was established on Tinto’s (1993) Model of Institutional Departure. Moreover, the study used binomial logistic regression, …
Post-Application Factors Affecting Community College Enrollment, Kyle L. Mccarrell
Post-Application Factors Affecting Community College Enrollment, Kyle L. Mccarrell
Dissertations, 2020-current
For many open-enrolled higher education institutions, including community colleges, enrollment is dropping each semester creating significant financial challenges. While much research literature focuses on four-year colleges, little is known about the students who seek to enroll at community colleges. What is known is often evaluated using college choice theoretical models, e.g., Hossler & Gallagher (1987), that focus on a limited, and often linear, student experience. Contemporary evaluation models, including Perna (2006) and Iloh (2018), seek to expand college choice understanding by incorporating contextual matters that include the diverse experiences of potential students as they consider college. These contextual theories, with …

Union Academy: A Freedmen's Bureau School In Gainesville, Florida, Murray D. Laurie
Florida Historical Quarterly
The Union Academy was one of the most important institutions in Gainesville’s black community for over fifty years. It was the town’s first public high school and from its graduating classes came most of Alachua County’s black teachers and black leaders. The facility which housed the Academy was built during Reconstruction by black carpenters who had learned their skill as slaves. Land for the building had been purchased by the school’s board of trustees. A symbol of self-sufficiency and pride for Gainesville’s black citizens for many decades, the Union Academy also represented the value they placed on education.
