Not much is known about registered nurses (RNs) in the corporate payor industry due to a lack of research. Strong professional values (PVs) are expected of all RNs, but research has shown this to vary across the field, meaning that RNs may require support in this area. As little is known about RNs in the payor industry, how these nurses sustain their PVs within the industry has not been evaluated, recognized, or supported. Therefore, the aims of this quantitative, descriptive, and correlational …

Treatment Efficacy Of Parent-Led Aba For Children With Autism And Their Parents, Lindsey Renee Sneed Jan 2021

Treatment Efficacy Of Parent-Led Aba For Children With Autism And Their Parents, Lindsey Renee Sneed

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Autism spectrum disorder is a complex and heterogenous, neurodevelopmental disorder. Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is a common treatment modality for children with autism with marked improvements demonstrated in communication, social, and adaptive functioning. The most common implementation of ABA is a practitioner-led model, whereby a paraprofessional directly implements treatment with the oversight of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst®. Parent mediated treatments are another model proving to be efficacious for children with autism and their parents. While this model is applied in therapeutic treatments such as speech pathology, early intervention, and other behavioral approaches (e.g., ESDM, PRT), parent mediated treatment has …

Effects Of Compassion Satisfaction, Burnout, And Compassion Fatigue On Attrition Intention Of African American Mental Health Professionals, Kimberly A. Andrews

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

AbstractThe African American community tends to stigmatize mental health services and is underrepresented in both client and therapist populations. Retention of African American mental health professionals (MHPs) may mitigate distrust in these services, allowing more individuals to seek out counseling. The purpose of this nonexperimental survey study was to investigate if compassion fatigue, burnout, or compassion satisfaction can predict intended attrition rates in African American MHPs. Constructivist self-development theory was employed to predict both resiliency and the potential adverse effects of listening to client narratives of 99 African American MHPs with a variety of mental health credentials. Stepwise multiple regression …

Social Determinants And Academic Success For Online Undergraduates Mediated By Mental Health, Jamie Michelle Claus Getz Jan 2021

Social Determinants And Academic Success For Online Undergraduates Mediated By Mental Health, Jamie Michelle Claus Getz

Cumulative inequality is the theoretical framework that guided the study; it underscores the complexity of interaction between personal, social, and environmental stressors in relation to a student’s academic performance. The quantitative survey design allowed for potential relationships between variables to be observed and studied based on the survey responses per self-report from 212 online …

Service-Level Factors Affecting Completion Of Antenatal Care Attendance In Uganda, Lorna Barungi Muhirwe Jan 2021

Service-Level Factors Affecting Completion Of Antenatal Care Attendance In Uganda, Lorna Barungi Muhirwe

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Lack of universal coverage of proven, low-cost, high-impact interventions—particularly for underserved and rural populations—remains a key reason for the high rates of maternal deaths in Uganda. Antenatal care (ANC) ensures early detection and treatment of pregnancy-related complications. Completion of recommended ANC visits remains suboptimal, particularly for rural women in Uganda. The purpose of this quantitative, cross-sectional study was to assess facility-level factors affecting completion of ANC attendance among women of reproductive age in a rural district in Uganda. The Dutton theory for initial and continued health services utilization was used to analyze the relationship between facility level factors and ANC …

Since the 1980s, the population of women prisoners incarcerated in the state of California had significantly increased by 500% more than that of the male prisoners. The United States had more incarcerated women than any other country. Along with this alarming rise in female incarceration, recidivism rates were also higher among female inmates. This problem has negatively affected women in California; whereas 57% of the women released from prison were rearrested within three to seven years. Teachers in a rural southeastern state school district are not integrating technology in ways that provide students with engaging technology-based learning experiences. The purpose of this study was to explore teachers’ current technology-based instructional practices based on the substitution, augmentation, modification, and redefinition (SAMR) model. This project study was guided by three research questions focusing on how elementary teachers integrate technology in their instructional practices, the levels of SAMR being implemented by elementary teachers, and the SAMR levels of students’ technology related assignments. The study was conducted using an instrumental case study design, and data were collected through interviews, observations, …
