Journal of Al-Azhar University – Gaza (Humanities)

The Violent Fecundity Of Mohja Kahl's Translingual Texts, Rachel Norman
Faculty Publications
From publisher: "Scholars writing on US multiethnic literature have described the inclusion of "foreign" languages in fiction as a method for reclaiming power by making the subject impassable, unknowable, or opaque to the monolingual reader. However, these analyses have focused on the incommensurate positions of linguistic insiders and outsiders. This essay contends that Arab American authorMohja Kahfdelivers an alternate ideology in hertranslingualtexts. Writing in a national context that conflates "Arab," "Muslim," and "terrorist" and that uses Arabic as a cultural symbol to denote all three, Kahf employs an aesthetic paradigm to teach her monolingual English-speaking readers Arabic. From Roundabout To Roundabout: Tahrir Square (1869- 2021), Mariam Abdelazim
Dissertations
Tahrir Square not only represents a symbol of liberation but also reflects the modern history of Egypt. Its several physical changes signify the rise and fall of the monarchy, colonialism, modernism, nationalism, capitalism, echoing a constantly changing definition of the Egyptian public space. And while the surrounding façades physically define the square, either the authorities or the public control its activities.
Khedive Ismail founded the square around 1869 as a roundabout on his “Paris along the Nile” modern city. Between 1882 and 1947, the site became the barracks’ location for the British troops who colonized Egypt. In 1952, an Egyptian …

This research aims to illuminate the term hermeneutics, which was closely related to interpretation in Western thought, as well as highlighting the most important paths of its development, starting with "Schleiermacher", which confirmed that the hermapnoteka is a way to reveal the structure of descriptive internal texts and their cognitive function and search for the facts contained therein. Since the Quran is a miracle of the Creator, it is believed by Muslims that these miracles in the Holy Quran will last till Allah enforces his judgment on Earth. God has intended for the Quran to be the righteous Doctrine to which our lives would conform and be straightened up by. It is a comfort to the hearts of Muslims, …

There is no doubt that the key to any text is its title, and the title is the compressed text that speaks for the entire text, and sometimes the title is synonymous with the text. The title can only be a sign if the text touches on its most important citizen and its deep, basic and sub-connotations.
From this vision, this research studies the titles in the collection of poems entitled “zenjabil” (ginger) by the Algerian poet “Othmane Loucif” to show the relationship between the title of poems and the extent to which the poet succeeded in choosing the title …
