Saudi Equities Herding: The Role Of Regional And Global Factors, Dina Gabbori
Plymouth Business School Theses
Herding is an important stock market behaviour for investors and policymakers, it may affect market volatility, which investors need to understand to properly assess risks. Financial instability may deter risk-averse investors while benefitting investors seeking profit from market inefficiencies. Policymakers who understand herding impacts are better placed to improve the information available to investors. Herding behaviour in the Saudi equity market was examined between 2006 and 2016 using the method suggested by Change et al. (2000), from three related perspectives. Firstly, through its influence on oil market volatility, including during OPEC conference meetings. Results showed significant herding behaviour in most …

Natural Products For The Management Of Cardiovascular Diseases, Maha Salama, Shahira Mohammed Ezzat, Mohamed Salem

Cardiovascular diseases constitute a serious public health problem. It is estimated that they are responsible for nearly 30% of world mortality. Regardless of the developments in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular diseases, their incidence rate remains increasing. Therefore, newlines of drugs are needed to manage the expanding population of patients with cardiovascular diseases. Even though the most common existing treatments for cardiovascular diseases are synthetic molecules, natural compounds, of different chemical classes, are also being tested. Medicinal plants have been employed in the treatment of some cardiovascular diseases such as congestive heart failure and hypertension many centuries ago. Recently, …

Therapeutic Efficacy Of Umbilical Cordderived Stem Cells For Diabetes Mellitus: A Meta-Analysis Study, Dina H. Kassem, Mohamed M. Kamal
Therapeutic Efficacy Of Umbilical Cordderived Stem Cells For Diabetes Mellitus: A Meta-Analysis Study, Dina H. Kassem, Mohamed M. Kamal
Pharmacy
Background: Stem cell therapy provides great hope for patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). DM is a seriously alarming metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia and β cell dysfunction. Efficient novel therapeutic modalities to treat DM are indeed warranted. Stem cells (SC) derived from the umbilical cord specifically provide several advantages and unique characteristics being a readily available non-invasive source, with an additional credit for their banking potential. This meta-analysis study aims to provide a focused assessment for therapeutic efficacy of umbilical cord (UC)-derived SC-transplantation, namely Wharton’s jelly mesenchymal stem cells (WJMSCs) and umbilical cord blood (UCB) for DM. Methods: The clinical …

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is one of the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorders. While pathological hallmarks of this disorder are known, the exact cause of AD remains unclear. Quinazoline was found to be a promising scaffold for the design and development of Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors. In this study, we report the synthesis of 1'-methyl-3',4'-dihydro1'Hspiro[ cyclopentane-1, 2'-quinazoline] (4) in 73.3% yield. The structure of compound 4 was confirmed with GC-MS, 1H and 13C-NMR. Acetylcholine esterase inhibition was studied virtually with docking into AChE active site and suggests potential use of 4 as a promising scaffold for acetylcholine esterase inhibitor design which might be …
