Determinants Of Cross-Border Mergers And Acquisitions Of Firms In Thailand, Pongpak Weerakiet

In this paper, we evaluate the effects of firm-level and country-level variables on the firms' probability of having cross-border M&A deals and the size of the deals. Our sample consists of 87 firms from SET100 Index (firms from financial industry are excluded), and the data between 2009 to 2018 is used in this paper. The results indicate that the increase in ownership advantages of the firms, namely, size and profitability raise the chance of the firms having cross-border M&A deals and the size of the deals. The main objective of this paper is to assess the economic impact in Bali during the Covid-19 pandemic by proposing the case of Ubud Food Festival 2019 with input-output analysis. Due to the outbreak, most scheduled festivals in 2020 have been cancelled, including Ubud Food Festival 2020. Computing the festival impact generated by 54 sectors in Bali's economy, this study constructs regional output, value-added, and income multipliers. This thesis studies the impact of factors influencing ex-prisoners' labour market re-entry. It is separated into three studies. The first study evaluates the effect of beauty premiums from cosmetic surgery on male ex-prisoners under asymmetric information settings where employers are unaware of candidates' criminal history. Using a Choice Experiment approach (CEs), the beauty from cosmetic surgery performs as the signal submitted to 400 employers. The results show that the beauty from cosmetic surgery associates with the increase of possibility of candidates in the experiments being chosen by 3.05 and 1.54 times, in the formal and informal sector, respectively. This thesis research comprises three studies, each of which investigates the inequality of income and wealth in Thailand from 1996 to 2017 and the impact of personal income tax and taxes on real estate on that inequality. Shorrocks Index decomposition technique is applied to examine the key drivers of inequality in the country in the first two studies. In the third study, the analysis is developed under the Heckman Selection Model to estimate the effect of personal income tax policy reform on the individual. Several studies analyzed the impact of internet finance on the profitability of Chinese commercial banks. This paper adds to the literature by focusing on two types of internet finance, internal internet finance (online banking) and external internet finance (third-party-payment (TPP) and peer-to-peer lending (P2P) platforms), and their relationship with bank performance. This study investigated the effects of interleaved form-focused instruction (FFI) on Thai lower secondary students' grammatical knowledge, long-term retention, and their perception towards the instruction. Students took a pre-test, an immediate post-test, and a one-week delayed post-test, and were also interviewed at the end of the implementation. Therefore, this thesis determines power loss minimization in a power system. The active power loss can be minimized by the alternating current optimal power flow (ACOPF) under the limits of power generations, bus voltages, and distribution lines. A sentence is typically treated as the minimal syntactic unit used for extracting valuable information from a longer piece of text. However, in written Thai, there are no explicit sentence markers. We proposed a deep learning model for the task of sentence segmentation that includes three main contributions. First, we integrate n-gram embedding as a local representation to capture word groups near sentence boundaries. This research aimed to study the effect of different catalyst structures to the hydrogen production process with glycerol steam reforming in packed bed reactors via the COMSOL Multiphysics program. 2D pseudo-homogeneous steady-state model of a 6-inch diameter adiabatic reactor has been developed to describe a transport phenomenon inside the packed bed reactors with two different catalyst structures of conventional 1-inch pellet catalyst and 10-30PPI foam catalyst. The extreme rainfall as an effect of climate change has been considered as the main problem due to landslide hazard. The rainfall can trigger slope failure through the kinetic energy of raindrop and decreasing of soil resistance due to the increasing of pore water pressure.
