This research study aimed to investigate the incidence and characterize antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Salmonella enterica and Escherichia coli isolated from broilers, pigs and their meat products in Thailand–Cambodia border provinces. Resistance to clinically importance antimicrobials was additionally examined in the E. coli isolates from other provinces with high pig production in Thailand. A total of 941 samples were collected from broilers and pigs at slaughterhouses and their carcasses at local fresh markets in Sa Kaeo, Thailand (n=554) and Banteay Meanchey and Siem Reap, Cambodia (n=387) during 2014-2015. Emerging and re-emerging important enteric viruses in pigs including porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) and enterovirus G (EVG) are important pathogens of food security and public health concerns. In Thailand, the information on the occurrences and status of PEDVs, PDCoVs and EVGs is limited. Especially, Thai-EVGs have never been reported before. This thesis composes of three study phases. Evidence has been increasingly suggested that insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) is related to steroidogenesis and spermatogenesis. This may be conducive to find the causes of poor sperm quality in Asian elephants (Elephas maximus). The present study aimed to investigate whether correlations among serum IGF-1 concentration, serum testosterone level and semen variables exist in elephants. A total of 17 ejaculates (1–3 ejaculates/bull) were collected by performing transrectal massage. Before each ejaculate, blood samples were obtained (n = 17). The purpose of this study was to determine minimum toe clearance and lower limb kinematics at initial swing and mid-swing phase during walking over the obstacles in patients with knee osteoarthritis after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Twenty patients aged 65-85 years with knee OA were included to the study before surgery, three and six months following TKA and twenty age-matched healthy controls were collected the data for comparisons. This research study investigated the stress patterns and metalinguistic knowledge of Thai learners on the pronunciation of English derivational suffixed words. The study compared how the learners performed before and after the praxis intervention, where the stress placement rules of English suffixed words were explicitly taught and trained. Thirty first-year university students were selected by stratified random sampling based on their proficiency levels and were grouped into the high and low proficiency groups. This research aimed to fabricate X-ray shielding substrates using amorphous cellulose from office waste paper and eucalyptus pulp mixed with natural rubber to produce the prototypes. The amorphous cellulose was prepared using only the sulfuric acid at 0 °C to rearrange the crystalline chain to the amorphous chain. After that, the barium sulfate/amorphous cellulose composite (Ba/AC) was regenerated using barium chloride solution. Thrombopoiesis is the process of platelet production from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). Glycoproteins (GP) Ib-IX-V that is expressed on the surface of megakaryocytes and platelets binds von Willebrand factor (VWF) plays roles in platelet production. Either the GPIb deficiency or hyper-function can cause macrothrombocytopenia, the molecular mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, the pathogenesis investigations were performed in the human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) model. Addressing this gap, I interrogate the discursive construction of Bangkok sex tourism spaces focusing on Silom areas, Cowboy alley, Nana Plaza. Cancer metastasis is the major cause of about 90% of cancer deaths. As epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is known for potentiating metastasis. In the present study aimed to elucidate the effect of ovalitenone on the suppression of EMT and metastasis-related behaviors, including cell movement and growth under detached conditions, and cancer stem cells (CSCs), of lung cancer cells. Ovalitenone, as a flavonoid was extracted from roots of Millettia erythrocalyx Gapnep., was the first reported to show the anti-migration activity of H460 and A549 lung cancer cells. Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) has been increasing reported worldwide. The aims of this study were to investigate the mechanisms of carbapenem resistance in K. pneumoniae Thai isolates and study the synergistic activities of antibiotic combinations against CRKP isolates. Two-hundred and forty CRKP clinical isolates were obtained from patients at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital between September 2016 and April 2020. The antibiotic susceptibility testing was determined by agar dilution to imipenem, meropenem, amikacin, fosfomycin, ciprofloxacin and by broth microdilution to colistin. Nanoscale zerovalent iron (nZVI) plays a significant role in environmental remediation including the removal of arsenic from groundwater and drinking water. This study synthesized modified nZVI particles in order to remove arsenic in drinking water. Reductive precipitation under various conditions was used to produce non-modified nZVI (B-nZVI) and lignin-modified nZVI using either 1 g/L lignin solution (L-nZVI) or pulp and paper wastewater (P-nZVI) as the substrate.
