Turnover Of Stochastic Inventory Systems., Hassan Ali Soltan Dec 2020

Turnover Of Stochastic Inventory Systems., Hassan Ali Soltan

Mansoura Engineering Journal

Evaluating performance of real inventory systems by using the conventional methods is a complex task because of disengagement of decision variables, especially for networks. Therefore, managers resort to the turnover role (TOR) as a local and aggregate tool. Analytic models of TOR seem to be scarce in the literature. This study developed several TOR models, based on stochastic continuous-review system, starting from completely structured objective functions. Two novel philosophies are highlighted to justify rushing TOR from cost and profitable views. The models include short ones that can be practically applied to abstract stochastic and sophisticated features of the system, The …

Impact Of The Emergency Use Authorization On Ventilator Innovation, Krista Stanislow

Theses

Innovation in the medical device industry is crucial to continuously improve the health and wellbeing of society. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is responsible for ensuring the safety and effectiveness of medical devices on the market while balancing the need for continuous innovation. One way the FDA has tried to support innovation is through the development of the 510(k) pathway, which does not require clinical testing as the safety of the device is determined based on a predicate device. Many companies choose to develop products that can obtain approval through the 510(k) pathway. While the 510(k) pathway is …

Evaluating Instructional Designs With Mental Workload Assessments In University Classrooms, Luca Longo, Giuliano Orru'

Articles

Cognitive cognitive load theory (CLT) has been conceived for improving instructional design practices. Although researched for many years, one open problem is a clear definition of its cognitive load types and their aggregation towards an index of overall cognitive load. In Ergonomics, the situation is different with plenty of research devoted to the development of robust constructs of mental workload (MWL). By drawing a parallel between CLT and MWL, as well as by integrating relevant theories and measurement techniques from these two fields, this paper is aimed at investigating the reliability, validity and sensitivity of three existing self-reporting mental workload …

The Indian Child Welfare Act’S Application To Civil Commitments Of Indian Children In State Court Proceeding, Courtney Lewis Dec 2020

The Indian Child Welfare Act’S Application To Civil Commitments Of Indian Children In State Court Proceeding, Courtney Lewis

American Indian Law Journal

Currently there is no clear guidance on the Indian Child Welfare Act’s (ICWA) application in the context of a civil commitment proceeding, which generally occurs at the state level. This Article argues that ICWA applies to any state court proceeding for civil commitment of an Indian child if the Indian parent cannot have their child returned upon demand. The plain language of ICWA provides for this reasonable interpretation. ICWA enacts rights for Indian children, their parents, and their tribes when a party seeks the removal of the Indian child for placement in an institution. Without adherence to these rights, an …

Biology Faculty Publications

Availability of water for irrigated crops is driven by climate and policy, as moderated by public priorities and opinions. We explore how climate and water policy interact to influence water availability for cannabis (Cannabis sativa), a newly regulated crop in California, as well as how public discourse frames these interactions. Grower access to surface water covaries with precipitation frequency and oscillates consistently in an energetic 11–17 year wet-dry cycle. Assessing contemporary cannabis water policies against historic streamflow data showed that legal surface water access was most reliable for cannabis growers with small water rights ( < 600 m3) and …

Response Of Frp Jacket Under Sustained Load And Low Temperature., W. Fahmy, A. Heniegal

Mansoura Engineering Journal

FRP materials are now increasingly being used in the construction industry. Confinement of circular concrete members using FRP is a popular application. As such, studying the performance of concrete members confined by FRP jackets, under severe weather conditions is quite important for both rehabilitated and new structures in cold climatic conditions. However, no sufficient data on FRP wrapped cylinders subjected to the two conditions combined, as in actual structures, which may have a synergetic effect. Stress level and temperature are two factors that influence creep-strain in composites. Orientation of the fibres is another factor that needs to be considered when …

Design Of Circularly Symmetric 2-D Fir Filters Using A Novel Technique In Calculating The Coefficients Of Mcclellan Transformation., Omar Alheyasat, Saod Alseyab

Mansoura Engineering Journal

In this paper, a novel analytic technique for the design of 2-D zero phase FIR circularly-symmetric filters is presented using the McClellan transformation. By this technique, a direct computation of the coefficients of McClellan transformation is derived by mapping the 2-D circular cutoff contour onto the /-D passband cut off and defining some deviation function, which is then freed to be zero for that contour. Then by comparing all the parameters in the resulting deviation function, one can easily determine the coefficients of McClellan transformation. This technique is formulated to assure that no scaling is needed. The McClellan coefficients in …
