Physical And Chemical Characteristics Of Supramolecular Complexes Of Glycirrizinic Acid With Phytohormones, Djuraev Tulqin, Esanov Rakhmatillo, Gafurov Makhmudjon, Kushiev Khabibjon
CHEMISTRY AND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
The process of formation of supramolecular complexes of glycyrrhizinic acid with some phytohormones (indolylacetic acid, indolylbutyric acid, α-naphthyl acetic acid and kinetin) were studied with the aim of creation the plant growth stimulator. The complexes structure was studied using IR and UV spectroscopy methods. The prepared compounds described by some physicochemical parameters. The stability constants and stoichiometric composition of complexes were determined in an aqueous solution at pH of 7,2 using UV spectrometry method. In result, all complexes have composition as 1:1 ratio, except the kinetin complex which has 2:1 ratio. The stability constants were equal: KGA:IAA=1,86±1×104; KGA:IBA=2,51±1×103; KGA:NAA =2,70±1×103 …

CHEMISTRY AND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
The oxadiazole derivatives complex compounds with metals are biologically active substances. The aim of the study was to study the interaction of the chlorides of Co (II), Ni (II), Cu (II) and Mn (II) with 5-(4-pyridyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2(3H)–thione, ammonium vanadate. Competitive coordination of donor centers, electronic and geometric structures of the ligand molecule were studied on the basis of the quantum-chemical software package Gaussian09 LanL2DZ. It was shown that 5-(4-pyridyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2(3H)-thione ligand is partially coordinated through a localized nitrogen or sulfur atoms at formation of the complex. А procedure was developed for the synthesis of new mixed-metal complexes. The composition and structure of …

Study Of Recombinant Protein Fractions From The Bombyx Mori And Pichia Pastoris Using "Native Page" Method, Abdurhakhmanov Jaloliddin, Sasmakov Sobirdjan, Khasanov Shuhrat, Ashirov Оybek
CHEMISTRY AND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
We have studied the recombinant protein fractions of ̴ 24-34 kDa obtained from Bombyx mori - silkworm larvae and yeast Pichia pastoris. Fractions, containing the recombinant proteins by gel-electrophoresis using the “Native PAGE” method, which allows for differentiation of proteins according to their natural (surface) charge and conformational properties were studied. The results showed that the recombinant protein fraction from Bombyx mori (̴ 34 kDa) consisted of four components and fraction from Pichia pastoris (̴ 24 kDa) consisted one component. The most optimal conditions for the “Native PAGE”- the main gel: Tris HCl (pH-8.8) 244 mM, Bis-Acrylamide 10%, TEMED 0.08%, …

CHEMISTRY AND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
Considering that many derivatives of bis carbamates have different biological activity, it was intuitive to produce a targeted synthesis of new derivatives of bis carbamates by the interaction of hexamethylene diisocyanate with 3,5-diode-4-hydroxybenzoic acid and 2,4,6-triiodophenol (1: 2 mol, respectively) in freshly distilled dry pyridine at 95-110 оC for 6 hours, the corresponding derivatives were obtained - methylene bis carbamates. Experimental studies have been conducted to identify the acute toxicity and radiopaque properties of the synthesized new N, -hexamethylene bis (2,6-diode-4-carboxyphenylcarbamate).

Resource Selection At Homesites By Wolves And Eastern Coyotes In A Canis Hybrid Zone, Teresa Oliveira, John F. Benson, Connor Thompson, Brent R. Patterson
School of Natural Resources: Faculty Publications
We modeled resource selection by wolves (Canis spp.), eastern coyotes (C. latrans), and admixed canids during the pup-rearing season at den and rendezvous sites (collectively, homesites) within a largely unprotected landscape proposed as the recovery zone for federally and provincially threatened eastern wolves (C. lycaon) in Ontario, Canada. Overall, canids selected wetlands, while avoiding secondary roads and open-structure rock-grass habitat patches. Packs with greater wolf ancestry selected wetlands and tertiary roads more strongly, while avoiding mixed conifer-hardwood forests. Contrary to our prediction, canids with greater coyote ancestry did not establish homesites closer to roads, which likely mitigated their risk of …
The Integrative Effects Of Global Legal Pluralism, Monica Hakimi
The Integrative Effects Of Global Legal Pluralism, Monica Hakimi
Book Chapters
International lawyers widely understand that legal pluralism is a fact of global life and that it can, in certain settings, be desirable. But many still approach it with some trepidation. A prominent skeptical claim is that pluralist structures lack the integrative resources that unify people around a shared governance project. This claim has been prominent with respect to two kinds of conflicts that are routine in international law: (1) conflicts that play out within a single international legal arrangement, and (2) conflicts that cut across multiple legal arrangements. For both, the skeptical claim is directed at the pluralist structure itself. …

Introgression Of The Afila Gene Into Climbing Garden Pea (Pisum Sativum L.), Oscar Eduardo Checa, Marino Rodriguez, Xingbo Wu, Matthew Wohlgemuth Blair
Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Faculty Research
The pea (Pisum sativum L.) is one of the most important crops in temperate agriculture around the world. In the tropics, highland production is also common with multiple harvests of nearly mature seeds from climbing plant types on trellises. While the leafless variant caused by the afila gene is widely used in developing row-cropped field peas in Europe, its use for trellised garden peas has not been reported. In this study we describe a pea breeding program for a high-elevation tropical environment in the Department of Nariño in Colombia, where over 16,000 hectares of the crop are produced. The most …

Although endometrial cancer is the most common cancer of the female reproductive tract, we have little understanding of what controls endometrial cancer beyond the transcriptional effects of steroid hormones such as estrogen. As a result, we have limited therapeutic options for the ~62,000 women diagnosed with endometrial cancer each year in the United States. Here, in an attempt to identify new prognostic and therapeutic targets, we focused on a new area for this cancer-alternative mRNA splicing-and investigated whether splicing factor, SF3B1, plays an important role in endometrial cancer pathogenesis. Using a tissue microarray, we found that human endometrial tumors expressed …
Insights Into Gene Expression And The Influence Of Regulatory Mechanisms Within Meningioma - A Bioinformatic Approach, Louise Carr
Insights Into Gene Expression And The Influence Of Regulatory Mechanisms Within Meningioma - A Bioinformatic Approach, Louise Carr
The Plymouth Student Scientist
Meningioma is cancer of the meninges, the protective lining of the brain and spinal cord. Currently meningioma is classified using WHO Grades (I-III) which is based on histological characteristics of the tumours. This approach can give inaccurate indication of tumour aggression and therefore an inappropriate treatment course is chosen. The aim of this study was to identify differentially expressed genes that may act as biomarkers to indicate tumour aggressiveness. A further aim was to infer and investigate the role of specific gene expression regulatory mechanisms within meningioma. Bioinformatic approaches for transcriptomic analysis were used to study microarray data of 62 …

Evaluating The Role Of Citizen Science In Biological Investigations, Fiona Day
The Plymouth Student Scientist
Considering recent and predicted ecological changes (caused by global climate change), baseline monitoring of biological diversity becomes an extremely useful record to have. Citizen science provides a unique, low-cost, high output method of attaining large data sets which has already been implemented in several studies. They are used by major bodies such as the Natural History Museum, OPAL and the RSPB. Despite this concerns lie with the accuracy of the data – can volunteers really produce real data? In this study various aspects were investigated, firstly the current public opinion about citizen science, how we can train volunteers carrying out …
