Preparing secondary students for college entrance requirements and the expectations of the job market, a market which is actively seeking the employees who are most qualified to take on jobs that require data analysis skills, is becoming increasingly important. Federal, state, and local education administrators and personnel must rewrite many of the general education curricula to incorporate data organization, collection, manipulation, application, and analysis in order to better prepare students for the expectations of college entrance and an ever-changing employment market. From a purely pedagogical standpoint, while traditional educational structure has been commonplace for decades in the United States, projects …
Anti-Lgbtq Hate: An Analysis Of Situational Variables, Jill Kehoe
Anti-Lgbtq Hate: An Analysis Of Situational Variables, Jill Kehoe
Journal of Hate Studies
The current study aimed to augment the scant body of literature on anti-LGBTQ hate by providing an in-depth examination of anti-LGBTQ hate incident situational characteristics including offender substance use, number of offenders, crime location, and victim-offender relationship. Analysis of situational dynamic variables provided support for the notion that anti-LGBTQ hate is a distinct type of criminal incident. Significantly increased levels of offender substance use, crimes perpetrated by multiple offenders, crimes perpetrated by acquaintances, and crimes taking place in open spaces substantiates the theory that anti-LGBTQ hate is qualitatively unique, typified by different characteristics than other forms of crime. The data …

Taking Profound Offence Seriously: Freedom Of Speech V. Human Dignity, Raphael Cohen-Almagor
Journal of Hate Studies
This study discusses the issue of offence to sensibilities as possible grounds for limiting freedom of expression. This issue is constantly brought to the public agenda, as for example, in the limitation imposed in Israel on the playing of Richard Wagner’s music by Israeli orchestras. The proposed thesis is as follows: The Offence to Sensibilities Argument will take precedence over free expression only in cases where profound and direct damage is inflicted upon the sensibilities of individuals or a target group, undermining their dignity, especially when the speaker’s intentions are to offend the target individual/group under circumstances in which the …

Unique Characteristics Of Bias Crimes Committed By Males Or Females In The United States, Rebecca Stotzer, Meripa T. Godinet, Janet T. Davidson
Journal of Hate Studies
Despite increased research on women’s criminal offending patterns, research on women’s involvement in bias crimes is almost nonexistent. This study examines bias crime incidences that are considered crimes against persons (e.g., assault, murder, robbery, sexual assault) collected in the National Incidence-based Reporting System from 2009–2012 to determine what features characterize crimes committed by men or women. Results indicate that female bias crime suspects choose different victims than male suspects; female suspects are more likely than men to target friends and family members, more likely to target other women, and more frequently commit crimes based on race/ethnicity/national origin than religion or …

The Historical Facts About Hate Crime In America The Social Worker’S Role In Victim Recovery And Community Restoration, Mitchell A. Kaplan, Marian M. Inguanzo
Journal of Hate Studies
Attitudes and belief systems associated with social intolerance and racial bigotry have been part of American society for generations. Analysis of historical records reveals a number of examples of how these social forces have shaped society’s reaction to those they consider to be not part of the mainstream culture. A review of research documented in the literature on social psychology indicates that individuals who hold strong prejudicial beliefs about others based solely on race, religion, sexual orientation, or ancestry often express those feelings in ways that lead to the commission of criminal acts known as hate crimes. The proliferation of …

Language In Collaborative Spaces: Advantages And Barriers, Ludovica Leone, Cristina Guardiano, Monica Alexandrina Irimia, Elisa Mattarelli, Fabrizio Montanari
Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity
An indispensable desideratum in collaborative spaces is to foster dynamic, barrier-free environments where professionals from different backgrounds can find common ground for collaborative projects. However, although such goals cannot be met without proficient and effective communication, research on the use of language as the most important means of information exchange in collaborative spaces is still needed. Our contribution in this chapter consists in exploring the linguistic interactions among coworkers of such spaces. We propose a multidisciplinary approach integrating insights from the organizational literature on communication and research methods in theoretical linguistics. The sociolinguistic analysis of two coworking spaces reveals essential …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
In Pakistan, the use of electronic gadgets like Ipad, smartphones, laptops, etc. is on the rise. With the exponential growth and availability of digital reading contents, it is also a matter of concern that how readers interact with digital contents? And whether they are aware of features associated with electronic reading devices? The current study aims to examine the level of students’ digital information literacy skills and to understand the status of their interaction with digital contents. A survey was conducted using a questionnaire as a data collection tool. The data were collected from the students of the Higher Education …

Faculty Research 2020
Studies of the severely pancytopenic scat mouse model first demonstrated the crucial role of RASA3, a dual RAS and RAP GTPase activating protein (GAP), in hematopoiesis. RASA3 is required for survival in utero; germline deletion is lethal at E12.5-13.5 due to severe hemorrhage. Here, conditional deletion in hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) using Vav-iCre recapitulates the null phenotype demonstrating that RASA3 is required at the stem and progenitor level to maintain blood vessel development and integrity and effective blood production. In adults, bone marrow blood cell production and spleen stress erythropoiesis are suppressed significantly upon induction of RASA3 deficiency, …

Didactic System And Pedagogical-Psychological Possibilities Of Using The Historical Values Of Our Great Figures In Higher Education Institutions, Nafisa Saidnazarovna Yuldasheva
Central Asian Journal of Education
We will create all conditions for the study of ancestral heritage, the creation of great literature, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In the art of speech, especially in Uzbek literature, spiritual beauty is interpreted as an important quality that determines human perfection. Through literature, young people understand the need to know the history of the homeland, and achieve their goals through the study of the didactic system, pedagogical and psychological possibilities of using the historical values of great figures. Therefore, the reference to history in fiction is always relevant, and in the period of independence in literature there is a great …

Experimental Bases Of Determining The Hydraulic Friction Coefficient In Preasure Systems Fo Sediment Flow, A.M. Arifjanov, Q.Т. Rahimov, A.D. Abduraimova, S.N. Xoshimov
Irrigation and Melioration
When the fluid moves in pressure pipelines, the determination of the coefficient of hydraulic friction is very important. To determine the coefficient of hydraulic friction during the movement of a homogeneous fluid, there are formulas that have a theoretical basis and experimental confirmation. Determination of the coefficient of hydraulic friction is much more complicated when there is a turbid flow in the pipeline, in such cases laboratory experiments are necessary. The article deals with the issue of experimental determination of the coefficient of hydraulic friction during the movement of slurry in pressure systems. The experimental results are processed based on …

The study analyzes the importance of income from non-farm activities (all economic activities except agriculture) in family farms and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the basis of an online survey (Multinomial logistics regression model). A total of 1281 participants aged 16 to 76 were surveyed and 648 participants engaged in non-farm activities were selected for analyse. The analysis found that the COVID-19 pandemic had a negative impact on the income of 59% of households from non-farm activities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, an increase in the number of people with higher education in the family by one unit increased …
