i.e.: inquiry in education

This study aimed to examine the relationship between high school students' academic achievements, school climate, student's self-inhibiting behavior and some demographic variables. The research is a correlational study. The sample of the study consists of 981 students studying in three different types of schools in the city center of Karaman in the 2019-2020 academic year. The researcher (s) used structural equation modeling in the research. According to the results of the research, in a school climate (positive climate) that has a success-oriented, supportive teacher behavior and a safe learning environment, students are less likely to have self-handicapping behavior, and students …

This building as well as that of the Spanish Mission, however, has been perpetuated by photographs of which the Florida State Historical Society has authenticated copies.

From the early days of the organization of the Territory of Florida the inevitable struggle between the red and the white man had been foreshadowed. There were collisions and depredations when the white man would venture into the Indian reserves, or when the Indian would venture upon the white man’s lands.

Using Cone-Beam Computed Tomography To Evaluate Apical Transportation And Centering Ability Of Waveone, Oneshape And Tornado Rotary Systems: A Clinical Study, Alaaeldeen O. Mais, Amr M. Abdallah, Essam Osman

BAU Journal - Creative Sustainable Development

This clinical study was aimed to evaluate apical transportation and centering ability of WaveOne, OneShape files and Tornado rotary system using Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Lower molars with a curving angle of buccal canals extending from 15°-45° in 24 patients were arbitrarily divided into three groups (n=8) rendering to the rotary systems used: Group 1, Tornado system, Group 2, WaveOne rotary system, and Group 3, OneShape rotary system. CBCT was used as a diagnostic method to evaluate centering ratio and canal transportation at 2, 5 and 8 mm from apical foramen. One-way analysis of variance and post hoc Tukey tests …

Economic Growth And Inclusive Growth: A Comparative Analysis In The Escwa Region, Malak Mohammad Ghandour

BAU Journal - Creative Sustainable Development

Despite the fact that the Economic and Social Commission in Western Asia (ESCWA) have experienced substantial economic growth, no one can guarantee that this is sufficient enough to reduce chronic unemployment, combat economic insecurity, alleviate poverty or reduce people's frustrations in regards to the increase in income and wealth inequality which has infiltrated many Arab countries. In fact, not all forms of growth are considered effective in promoting structural and social changes as well as enhancing people's standards of living. Consequently, the increasing concerns in regards to rapid and sustained economic growth has led world economies to discover alternative means …

The Relationship Between House Prices And Urbanization In Lebanon: A Granger Causality Approach, Abdallah Nassereddine, Nisreen Mousa, Souha Nicolas Nov 2020

The Relationship Between House Prices And Urbanization In Lebanon: A Granger Causality Approach, Abdallah Nassereddine, Nisreen Mousa, Souha Nicolas

BAU Journal - Creative Sustainable Development

The purpose of this paper is to examine the mutual relationship between urbanization and house prices in Lebanon for the period 1993-2017. The underlying argument of this paper is to examine whether house prices affect and is affected by the rate of urbanization. It argues that a significant rise of rural-urban migration can contribute to the rise in house prices. Similarly, a substantial rise in house prices can eventually limit rural-urban migration and slow down the pace of urbanization. In Lebanon, urbanization has increased at varying rates since 1993 and housing prices might have been affected by urbanization, or could, …

This paper reviewed pricing services objectives literature from the past sixteen years [2004-2019]. Using the well-known and international library, Emerald, the author has examined a sum of articles that were relevant. Papers have been extracted from four different top ranked journals. This systematic literature review has identified four themes reflecting factors affecting pricing objectives, namely; firm and buyer role, value of information, service life cycles and perceived fairness price. Findings revealed perceived fairness price to be associated with service pricing objectives. Unfortunately, social studies in this area did not give much attention to theories, thus there is an urgent …

Primary cardiac leiomyosarcoma has an extremely low incidence with overall median survival of approximately 6 months. Here, We report the case of a 60-year-old man who underwent complete surgical excision of right atrial mass. Histologic examination revealed leiomyosarcoma. The patient made a full recovery with no evidence of recurrence at 24 months. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case or primary cardiac leiomyosarcoma in the Middle East.

Other QIC-WD Products

The QIC-WD learned many lessons while conducting utilization-focused workforce research across eight diverse public child welfare agencies. In this brief we detail how we are chronicling natural variation (e.g., stay at home orders, hiring freezes, political will, and leadership changes), synthesizing existing data, conducting process evaluation (e.g., identifying implementation drivers), visualizing data to meet diverse stakeholder information needs, and building systems that are both flexible and sustainable.

How Perpetrator Identity (Sometimes) Influences Media Framing Attacks As “Terrorism” Or “Mental Illness”, Allison E. Betus, Erin M. Kearns, Anthony F. Lemieux

Criminology and Criminal Justice Faculty Publications

Do media frame attacks with Muslim perpetrators as “terrorism” and attacks with White perpetrators as the result of “mental illness”? Despite public speculation and limited academic work with relatively small subsets of cases, there have been no systematic analyses of potential biases in how media frame terrorism. We addressed this gap by examining the text of print news coverage of all terrorist attacks in the United States between 2006 and 2015. Controlling for fatalities, affiliation with a group, and existing mental illness, the odds that an article references terrorism are approximately five times greater for a Muslim versus a non-Muslim …
