Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are increasingly used for advanced lung cancer, butfew studies have reported on patient-reported outcomes (PROs) outside the context of a clinicaltrial. The goal of the current study was to assess PROs in participants of a lung cancer registry whohad been treated with an ICI. Patients participating in the GO2Foundation’s Lung Cancer Registrywho reported receiving atezolizumab, durvalumab, nivolumab, or pembrolizumab were invited toparticipate in a survey about their experiences during treatment. Quality of life was evaluated usingthe Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy–General (FACT-G). Common symptomatic adverseevents were evaluated using an item bank generated for ICIs. Internationally, 226 …

During socialism, savings forms were limited, while in certain periods some forms were devalued by high (or hyper) inflation. This period was characterized by a reduced need for savings as pensioners, the sick, the unemployed, the disabled, etc. were provided for by the state. Based on survey data from SHARE, the article compares the specifics regarding the size and form of wealth in Slovenia. Among the 14 countries analyzed, Czech Republic and Estonia, as the other two post-socialist countries, are at the bottom of the country ranking by wealth expressed in the number of average net monthly wages, while Slovenia …
Effects Of Calcination Temperature Of Naturally Occurring Absorbents On Drinking Water Defluoridation, Brenda Mndolwa
Effects Of Calcination Temperature Of Naturally Occurring Absorbents On Drinking Water Defluoridation, Brenda Mndolwa
Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)
Currently, in Tanzania, fluoride removal from drinking water is treated mostly using the bone char method. The method has poor acceptability in some religious communities and also causes water quality deterioration in taste and odour if the bones are not properly prepared. The use of local natural adsorbents as an alternative is feasible with limitations of high levels of other impurities in treated water. Locally available gypsum, magnesite and bauxite were converted to adsorbents through calcination. The study was conducted to determine the removal efficiency, best calcination temperature and composite ratio of the three adsorbents for the removal of fluoride …

Potential For Increased Rural Electrification Rate In Sub-Saharan Africa Using Swer Power Distribution Networks, Aviti Thadei Mushi
Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)
Rural electrification rate (RER) in Africa is still low to date. Several countries in Sub-Saharan Africa have tried to address this problem using conventional single phase two-wire or three-phase three-wire systems, however at large costs due to the nature of dispersed rural load centres, low load demand, and low population density. Another solution of off-grid generation creates associated health problems. Therefore, this paper undertakes a review of a single wire earth return (SWER) network as a RER improvement solution. The paper undertakes intensive literature review to elucidate challenges and solutions to the implementation of SWER technology. Advantages of SWER technology …

Waqf (Islamic endowment) is considered one of the alternative solutions to environmental problems in Indonesia. One of the examples is through the establishment of a waqf forest, a conservation initiative in the form of developing forests on waqf land. The development of waqf forests needs to pay attention to the legal side in accordance with the laws and regulations of Indonesia. Previous studies discussed the process of legalizing waqf land in Indonesia, but research about the legalization of waqf forest land is still scarce. This study aims to determine the process of legalizing waqf forests on the basis of Indonesian …

Feedback-Guided Analysis As An Approach To Managing Sustainability In Asean Countries, Maria Assunta C. Cuyegkeng, Charlotte Kendra Gotangco Gonzales
Journal of Management for Global Sustainability
Innovation has been at the center of most science policies of the ASEAN countries, driven as they are by a greater concern for the competitive advantages that can come from science and technology. Related to these policies, although often treated separately, are policies on the environment and environmental education. What is missing, however, is a more comprehensive view of how both science and environmental policies influence and are influenced by the culture and well-being of the people in a particular country. This study attempts to fill in the blanks through feedback-guided analysis, particularly by using a cultural adaptation template introduced …

Quantifying The Order Of Priorities In Student Choice Of Graduate Business Schools: Does Sustainability Matter?, Robert Sroufe, David B. Brauer
Journal of Management for Global Sustainability
Business schools expend resources to attract more and higher-quality applicants to their institutions, yet our understanding of what criteria resonate with those who want to find the right fit with a business school and its programs is, paradoxically enough, either not clear or dated. There is a dearth of research on what business students value, resulting in missed opportunities to engage existing students so as to translate their interests and aspirations into prospects for program design, delivery, and enrollment. One important and often overlooked criterion, for example, is the desire of business students to learn about sustainability. Thus, while most …

Employees can be a resource of sustained success and a competitive advantage in any orgnisation, reliant on skilled workforce. However, dearth of trained labour force to drive the manpower requirement of local industries has become a long lasting burden in some small counties. These countries do not have adequate professional advancement opportunities for librarians and support staff to become professionals or paraprofessionals due to lack of openings for specialist education in the field of librarianship. Thus, human resource risks in libraries of such countries are comparatively higher. It is therefore needed to identify and assess the severity and impact of …
