Literature Review Of The Relationship Between Illness Identity And Recovery Outcomes Among Adults With Severe Mental Illness, Veronica W. Wanyee, Dr. Josephine Arasa
Modern Psychological Studies
This paper is a literature review of the relationship between illness identity and recovery outcomes among adults with severe mental illness. First, illness identity is explored as presented in the literature, through analysis of work on narrativization, labeling theory and the role of gender stereotypes. Literature on stigmatization as a mediating factor that influences the ways illness identity impacts recovery is also studied. Finally, work is presented on recovery outcomes that are a direct result of self-perception. Findings suggest the existence of two paradigms; positive and negative illness identity as the result of mediating factors from the diagnosis stage. A …

Amid the opioid epidemic and COVID-19 pandemic, the public sector is consumed with health promotion and disease prevention. Preventive programs serve a significant purpose in ensuring population health and reducing burden on the healthcare system (Cohen et al., 2008; Neumann & Cohen, 2009). People are increasingly turning to educational resources outside of the traditional healthcare sector to ward off diseases or alleviate pre-existing conditions (Eakin et al., 1980; Eng et al., 1998). Public library systems often carry such resources, in print and multimedia form, at no cost. Some libraries are providing health programming to supplement, contextualize, or incentivize the use …

The Medical Library Association (MLA) has been part of the library and information science field since 1898 (The Medical Library Association, 2020). According to the website, the mission of the organization is to promote library and information science knowledge and make it available and accessible to medical information specialists and the general public. This content analysis examines the Medical Library Association’s (MLA) role in the 2019/2020 COVID-19 public health crisis, specifically the ways in which the MLA has provided resources about the pandemic to libraries and librarians as well as the public.

Central Asian Journal of Pediatrics
This article discusses the treatment and treatment of acute cholecystitis in combination with diffuse liver disease, which today is one of the problems of medicine due to its prevalence, complications and the complexity of timely diagnosis. All patients were divided into two groups. Analysis of the results of laparoscopic treatment of 33 patients with acute cholecystitis and chronic diffuse liver disease in group 1 and 30 patients with traditional cholecystectomy with the same diagnosis in groups 2 and 4, treated conservatively, a total of 67 patients before and after surgery were covered.

Synthesis Of Metal Nanoparticles Using Plants: An Ecofriendly Approach, Dutt Rohit, Dhir Sarika, Singh Mhaveer
Central Asian Journal of Pediatrics
Synthesis of metal nanoparticles using plants by green synthesis technology is biologically safe, environment-friendly and cost-effective. Plant contains various biomolecules such as alkaloids, phenolics, terpenoids, saponins, co-enzymes. These phytoconstituents are present in various parts of plant such as leaves, stem, roots, flower, bark. It has been found that these phytocomponents act as reducing and stabilizing agent in the production of metallic nanoparticles such as silver, gold, copper, platinum, zinc oxide etc. These plant mediated nanoparticles are used as antimicrobial, antifungal and a potential remedy for diseases like cancer, HIV, malaria, hepatitis etc.

Changes in blood pressure during the day lead to the development of left ventricular (LV) remodeling, which includes the processes of hypertrophy and dilatation, changes in geometry and impaired contractility of the myocardium, which manifests itself in a violation of its diastolic function. Structural changes in the LV are accompanied by an overload of the left atrium (LA) and is a factor predisposing to the development of rhythm disturbances. Indices of EDV by 9%, LVM by 34% and LVMI by 71% were higher in the group of patients with hypertension and heart rhythm disturbances; LV ejection fraction was 9% lower …

This article presents the material of morphological studies of the biopsy material of the costal-cartilage part, taken from 66 children (3-18 years old). For histological examination, intraoperatively removed tissue pieces from the anatomically modified cartilaginous elements of the sternum-costal complex of the anterior chest wall during thoracoplasty, were fixed in an aldehyde-osmium solution, and were placed in aralditis. A quantitative study of reactive changes in chondrocyte cartilage was carried out. The quantitative studies of changes in the chondrocytes of the cartilage of the sterno-costal complex indicate pronounced changes in the chondrocytes of the surface zone with a decrease in the …

The "Shiptime Sharing Project" is a new exploration of the funding model of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). After ten years of implementation, it has achieved significant effect which guaranteed the needs of marine surveys for NSFC funded projects. It has established a marine field observation platform for both interdisciplinary research and the training of young research scientists. It has promoted the accumulation and sharing of marine survey data as well as the overall development of marine science. Facing the new trend of global technology and economic development, the national strategic demand puts forward higher requirements for …
Mechanical Strength Assessment Of Pharmaceutical Compacts With Refractive Index Measurements From Terahertz Time Of Flight Spectroscopy, Shikhar Mohan
Mechanical Strength Assessment Of Pharmaceutical Compacts With Refractive Index Measurements From Terahertz Time Of Flight Spectroscopy, Shikhar Mohan
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The mechanical strength of pharmaceutical compacts is often considered as a critical quality attribute for roller and tablet compaction processes. Most traditional mechanical strength tests are destructive, thus, preventing further material testing. This thesis expands on the application of terahertz time of flight spectroscopy (THz-TOF) as a nondestructive technique for assessing mechanical strength. This technique is able to extract the refractive index; which is a function of porosity and crystallinity of the solid. Thus, it was hypothesized that refractive index measurements from terahertz time of flight spectroscopy are directly related to porosity; therefore, these nondestructive measurements are able to correlate …

Behavioral Differences Among Varyingly-Disturbed Populations Of Eastern Grey Kangaroos (Macropus Giganteus) In New South Wales, Australia, Francesca A. Iacobucci
Theses and Dissertations
Despite their iconic status, kangaroo spp. are often treated as pests in Australia due to perceived abundance and extensive grazing behaviors. With growing suburbanization, animals such as kangaroo spp., are forced to inhabit human-dominated areas. Little research has been done examining how different aspects of human-induced disturbance can varyingly affect the behavior of wild animals. Specifically, this study examined how varyingly-disturbed areas affect behaviors such as vigilance, foraging, joey emergence during the in/out stage of pouch emergence, and play in three eastern grey kangaroo (Macropus giganteus) populations. Results suggest that acute environmental disturbances (e.g., dogs barking or …

Program Evaluation Of The Vapro Touch-Free Hydrophilic Intermittent Catheter In Hospitalized Patients Experiencing Urinary Retention, Dorothy Neufeld
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Manuscripts
Abstract
A 319-bed hospital on the Florida Gulf coast revised their Bladder Care Bundle policy in September 2020. The document provided an algorithm to be followed to determine if intermittent urinary catheterization is warranted rather than an indwelling catheter to relieve urinary retention. Concurrently, this change included the introduction of a new product, Hollister’s VaPro Touch-Free Hydrophilic Intermittent Catheter which is considerably different from the traditional straight intermittent catheter previously utilized by the hospital. Its protective sheath and inducer tip are purported by the manufacturer to decrease the chance of contamination during insertion and thus reducing infection rates. A program …
