Ultra-Wideband Power Amplifier Design For Large Signal Application, Ragavan Krishnamoorthy Jan 2020

Ultra-Wideband Power Amplifier Design For Large Signal Application, Ragavan Krishnamoorthy

Student Works (2020-2029)

Broadband power amplifier design has become one of the most critical enabling block in today’s wireless communication technology. Numerous research efforts have been carried out throughout the years to establish high efficiency over wideband RF transmitter. This research work presents two approaches in achieving ultra-broadband power amplifier for RF transmitter. Firstly, a new technique for the design of ultra-broadband RF power amplifier is introduced, in which a combination of the reactance compensation and third-harmonic tuning are adopted. The design goal is to achieve 40 dBm (10W) output power across a wide frequency bandwidth operation. Theoretical design equations were developed to …

Human Development Programme

Sleep is a significant marker of physical and psychological health. The present research was undertaken to explore perceptions of parents, teachers and pediatricians about preschool children’s sleep patterns, habits, and problems from urban Karachi, Pakistan. A qualitative research approach was employed; data collection methods were Focus Group Discussion (FGDs) and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs). Impoliteness Strategies In Online Discussions On Cheating In A Virtual Reality Game, Chia Wen Fong Jan 2020

Impoliteness Strategies In Online Discussions On Cheating In A Virtual Reality Game, Chia Wen Fong

Student Works (2020-2029)

This research study identifies the impoliteness strategies found in the forum’s post comments discussing accounts of grief play activities mainly spoofing in a social game, Pokemon Go, and discusses how impoliteness is accommodated in the interactions among forum members in the conveyance of their perceptions towards cheating in social gaming. Data is collected from five complaint posts in a subforum, r/pokemongo, that discusses topics and contents related to Pokemon Go which is part of a megaforum, Reddit. Culpeper’s (2011) Impoliteness Framework and the constructs of Communication Accommodation Theory (CAT) are used to analyse the data collected. The findings show that …

Young-Onset Hypertension In Malaysia: A Mixed-Methods Study, Yi Yi Khoo Jan 2020

Young-Onset Hypertension In Malaysia: A Mixed-Methods Study, Yi Yi Khoo

Student Works (2020-2029)

The continuous cumulative presence of raised blood pressure (BP) when young is a strong predictor of future cardiovascular risk. This study, which was conducted between June 2018 and December 2019, aimed to elucidate the epidemiology of young-onset hypertension (YOH) in Malaysia during the period 2006–2015, and to explore the underlying experiences and perspectives of young adults living with hypertension. Phase I involved a systematic review to identify variables for the secondary data analysis. In Phase II, data on respondents aged 18–39 diagnosed with YOH according to the 7th Joint National Committee Report (United States) were extracted from three National Health …

Patient Concerns Inventory Head And Neck As An Individualised Approach To Assess Post-Treatment Outcomes Among Oral Cancer Patients In Malaysia, Aminnudin Ainon Natrah Jan 2020

Patient Concerns Inventory Head And Neck As An Individualised Approach To Assess Post-Treatment Outcomes Among Oral Cancer Patients In Malaysia, Aminnudin Ainon Natrah

Student Works (2020-2029)

Background: Oral cancer and its treatment undisputedly impacts patients‘ quality of life, posing a challenge to clinicians in managing them optimally. Identifying patients‘ concerns is central to holistic patient care; as such time constraints faced by clinicians during consultation sessions may pose a barrier in identifying such concerns effectively. The use of PCI-H&N during post-treatment oral cancer consultation sessions has previously shown to be beneficial, simultaneously promoting effective patient- clinician communication during consultations. Objectives: This study aimed to determine the feasibility of the PCI-H&N in assessing post- treatment oral cancer patients concerns and its relationship with patients‘ HRQoL, psychological distress …

Exploring Reflective Journal Writing Among Pre-Registered Student Nurses, Seyed Abolghasem Fatemeh Jan 2020

Exploring Reflective Journal Writing Among Pre-Registered Student Nurses, Seyed Abolghasem Fatemeh

Student Works (2020-2029)

This study furnishes a comprehensive exploration of reflective journal writing in diploma nursing education of pre-registered student nurses (PRSN) in a Malaysian context. The focal point is directed toward the practice of reflective journal writing and the roles it plays in developing professional knowledge and skills among novice student nurses. Within this domain, this study explored the participants’ perceptions on reflective journal writing, investigated their evaluation of reflective journaling and looked into their levels of reflection demonstrated in their reflective journals as documented in Transformative Learning Theory (TLT) proposed by Mezirow (1990). For these purposes, dual methodologies were adopted to …
