Synergic Production Scheduling Method For Distributed Multi-Plants Based On Fusion Decision Tree, Wang Yan, Tianlun Jiang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: In the synergic production scheduling optimization problem of distributed multi-plants, it is necessary to consider the two stages of job allocation between factories and job scheduling in factories at the same time. This paper first establishes a distributed multi-plant scheduling model with total cost and advance/delay as the optimization objectives, and then proposes a nested optimization algorithm framework integrating ID3 decision tree with Gauss particle swarm optimization. In this framework, independent scheduling optimization within the factory is nested in the process of inter factory allocation optimization, and elite retention strategy is introduced to improve the algorithm optimization. In …

Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Aiming at the problems of mesh visual feature loss and oversimplification in mesh simplification algorithm, a visual feature preservation based triangle mesh model simplification algorithm is proposed. The multi-viewpoint perception method is used to measure the visual perception error caused by the difference between the original and the simplified model in the two-dimensional view under the optimal viewpoint set. Based on QEM algorithm, a novel geometric error metric is built by introducing the triangle shape factor. The triangle collapse error function is defined by combining visual perception and geometric error to control the simplified depth of the model. Through …

Research On Clock Synchronization Of Simulation System Based On Ethernet And Optical Fiber Network, Yulin Meng, Shen Tao, Shuaihao Wang, Lüyi Zhao, Chengshi Tang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: With the development of simulation communication and Ethernet clock synchronization technology, the traditional timing simulation method based on real-time operating system can not meet the accuracy requirements of clock synchronization between multi-simulation systems. A time synchronization method between simulation systems based on IEEE1588 clock synchronization protocol and optical fiber reflection memory network is proposed, in which the Beidou/GPS timing device periodically calibrates the real-time operating system, and the real-time operating system divides the frequency of the calibrated clock information and synchronizes the clock of each simulation system through the high-speed optical fiber reflection memory network. The clock synchronization …

Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: In order to solve the high temperature problem caused by the high speed of the synergistic aspirating engine, this paper designs a control algorithm for the heat exchanger. In the process of designing the control algorithm, considering the strong nonlinearity, uncertainty and strong coupling of the engine, The decoupling study of the multi-input and multi-output linear model of the heat exchanger is carried out. The decoupling effect of two different decoupling methods on the strongly coupled heat exchanger is obtained. The fuzzy decoupling PID controller has short adjustment time and overshoot. Small, conclusions with better decoupling effects.

Downhole Drilling Processing Data Acquisition And Stick Slip Characteristic Analysis, Huang Sheng, Zhang Tao, Chongjun Huang, Yumei Li, Deng Hu, Zhang Xia
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: During oil drilling process, drill string vibrations are detrimental to the bit and drill string, which even causes failure of equipment. Researches show that, studying the law of near bit vibration data can reduce non-production time (NPT) and improve drilling efficiency. This paper uses power spectral density and wavelet transform to analyze vibration signals, then compares with normal drilling situation to find out stick slip characteristics. The results show that, when stick slip occurs, the mean value of lateral vibration fluctuates greatly, which indicates stick slip is mainly based on torsional vibration. From the perspective of power spectral density …

A 3u Cubesat Platform For Plant Growth Experiments, Jared A. Loewenthal
Theses
This thesis work presents the design, manufacturing, and ground testing of a 3U Cubesat platform intended for plant growth experiments. The structure is comprised of four identical, but independent plant growth chambers. Each of these accommodates about two cubic inches of soil, and the necessary air volume and moisture regulation to grow a fast-growing plant from seed to seed in 3-4 weeks. The plant growth is artificially stimulated by an array of light emitting diodes (LEDs) at grow light wavelengths that match the properties of chlorophyll, and is monitored by a suite of sensors: temperature, pressure, relative humidity, CO2, custom …
Identifying Design Strategies To Mitigate The Risk Introduced Into New Product Development By Suppliers, Shridhar Palekar
Identifying Design Strategies To Mitigate The Risk Introduced Into New Product Development By Suppliers, Shridhar Palekar
Theses
For every organization, an efficient and effective product development process is a key to generate and manage growth opportunities. Often strategic relationships with key suppliers and partners are required as organizations do not have all the competencies that are crucial to the development of a product. This is particularly true for Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) and Joint Development Manufacturer (JDM) supplier relationships, which are characterized by a high degree of supplier involvement in every stage of product development. If the interactions with these key suppliers are not managed properly, there is significant risk that the endeavor will end up with …
Featurization And The Myth Of Data Empowerment, Nur Lalji
Featurization And The Myth Of Data Empowerment, Nur Lalji
Washington Journal of Law, Technology & Arts
Every day, we make a series of tradeoffs between privacy and convenience. We may check our email, post on social media, use the free Wi-Fi in public spaces, or take our cellphones with us wherever we go without a clear understanding of what information we are giving away when we do so. Increasingly, we are seeing products that claim to defy this opaqueness associated with big data and put users at the helm of their information. These "featurized" products wrap themselves in a data empowerment narrative, but ultimately erode individual privacy in new ways, sometimes even capitalizing on it. This …

Censorship, Free Speech & Facebook: Applying The First Amendment To Social Media Platforms Via The Public Function Exception, Matthew P. Hooker
Washington Journal of Law, Technology & Arts
Society has a love-hate relationship with social media. Thanks to social media platforms, the world is more connected than ever before. But with the ever-growing dominance of social media there have come a mass of challenges. What is okay to post? What isn't? And who or what should be regulating those standards? Platforms are now constantly criticized for their content regulation policies, sometimes because they are viewed as too harsh and other times because they are characterized as too lax. And naturally, the First Amendment quickly enters the conversation. Should social media platforms be subject to the First Amendment? Can—or …

Disaggregated Hispanic Groups And Cancer: Importance, Methodology, And Current Knowledge, Paulo S. Pinheiro, Karen E. Callahan, Erin N. Kobetz
Environmental & Global Health Faculty Research
Cancer is the leading cause of death among Latinos/Hispanics, the largest racial/ethnic minority group in the United States. Their cancer burden has nearly doubled in 15 years, with 129,000 new cancer cases nationwide in 2014. As this relatively young Hispanic population ages, this burden will inevitably increase; thus, accurate characterization of the Hispanic cancer experience is critical. In this chapter, we summarize the current knowledge on cancer in Hispanics, with a focus on the imperative of disaggregating by specific Hispanic group (Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Cubans, Central Americans, South Americans, and Dominicans) and nativity. We also describe for the first time …

Occupational Therapy's Role In Maternal Mental Health Within Transition From Nicu To Home, Victoria Briltz
Occupational Therapy's Role In Maternal Mental Health Within Transition From Nicu To Home, Victoria Briltz
Student Capstone Papers
The purpose of this capstone project is to identify OT’s role in maternal mental health following the transition home from a NICU setting. This capstone project focused on mothers’ roles, routines, and environment during the transition from the NICU to home. Mothers may feel unprepared for the discharge home when their babies are ready to leave the NICU (Boykova, 2016). Occupational therapists address occupational performance through skilled interventions for women during the perinatal period; however, there is a lack of evidence guiding occupational therapy for providing services for maternal wellness (Slootjes, 2016).
Data analysis for this capstone project consisted of …
The Barriers Of Reporting Wage Theft, Jose Cardoso
The Barriers Of Reporting Wage Theft, Jose Cardoso
Capstones
Undocumented immigrants are often victims of wage theft. There are many owners who take advantage of this because they know they won't speak up out of the fear of retaliation. However, there have been moments when immigrants have spoken up and received justice. Unfortunately, that's not the case for many as the process to report wage theft can take time and sometimes for nothing. New York City is home to 3.2 million immigrants or 37.1 percent of the population and the undocumented community stands at 5.3 percent.
