Novel Voltammetric Investigation Of Dipyridamole At A Disposable Pencil Graphite Electrode, Iulia Gabriela David, Lorelei Iordache, Dana Elena Popa, Mihaela Buleandra, Victor David, Emilia-Elena Iorgulescu

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The present paper describes the voltammetric analysis of dipyridamole (DIP) at a cheap, disposable pencil graphite electrode (PGE). The working conditions were optimized with regard to the electrode material and the supporting electrolyte. Cyclic voltammetric investigations emphasized that DIP is irreversibly oxidized at the PGE. The electrode process is pH-dependent and controlled by both diffusion and adsorption. For DIP quantitative determination a differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) method in phosphate buffer solution pH 7.00 was developed. DIP's oxidation peak current varied linearly with the analyte concentration, presenting two linear ranges, namely 5.00 $\times $ 10$^{-7}$-2.50 $\times $ 10$^{-5}$ M and 2.50 …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

A series of sulfonamide derivatives were synthesized by reactions with various functional groups containing benzenesulfonyl chlorides and aniline derivatives under different substitution reaction conditions. The structures of SMZ derivatives were confirmed with melting point, FT-IR, $^{1}$H NMR, $^{13}$C NMR, and LC-MS/MS techniques. In order to investigate the cytotoxic effects of these derivatives, we used a model plant species. The synthesized compounds (S1-S5) and sulfamethazine (SMZ) as a positive control were applied to Arabidopsis thaliana seeds. Our results indicated that S3 and S4 induced shorter roots and lower wet weight in plants. Plants treated with S2 and S5 showed no growth …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

In order to get a better insight into the relationship between molecular structure and photovoltaic performance, six monoazo dye molecules containing benzoic and cinnamic acid moieties were synthesized and their photovoltaic properties were studied. Three of them have not been previously used in solar cells. Spectroscopic measurements of the investigated compounds coupled with theoretical calculations were performed. Short-circuit current density, open-circuit voltage, and fill-factor were determined. It was found that a larger amount of short-circuit current density will be generated if the HOMO--LUMO energy gap is lower, determined by the stability of the molecule and the electronic effect of the …

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

This study describes and interprets Upper Cretaceous volcaniclastics interbedded with hemipelagic to pelagic limestones, marls, and turbidites from the Western Pontides, northwestern Turkey. The Dereköy Formation, the Unaz Formation (red pelagic limestone unit), and the Cambu Formation can be distinguished, overlain by the turbiditic Akveren Formation. Biostratigraphic ages from the predominantly volcaniclastic Dereköy Formation indicate Turonian (Dicarinella concavata planktonic foraminifera zone, CC13/UC8-9 nannofossil zones) to middle/late Santonian ages up to CC17/UC13. The Unaz Formation, deposited during the late Santonian (UC13, Dicarinella asymetrica Zone), is overlain by the volcaniclastic Cambu Formation of latest Santonian (CC17b/UC13) to early/middle Campanian (CC20/UC15a) age. However, …

Graphite In Rocks Of The Popigai Impact Crater: Residual Or Retrograde?, Valentin Afanasiev, Sergey Gromilov, Valeri Sonin, Egor Zhimulev, Aleksei Chepurov

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

The concentration of diamond-bearing tagamite from the Popigai impact crater produces large amounts of graphite in addition to impact diamonds (1:100, respectively). The question arises of whether this is residual graphite not converted to diamond at the time of the Popigai impact or is a retrograde form resulting from back-conversion of impact diamond to graphite in a high-temperature tagamite melt. Experiments show that graphite from tagamite is a residual phase. Coexistence of lonsdaleite, cubic diamond, and single-crystal graphite within a limited volume may be due to different orientations of the graphite base plane relative to the impact stress direction. Thus, …

Small Benthic Foraminiferal Biostratigraphy And Palaeoecology During The Campanian-Maastrichtian Transition In North-Western Tunisia, Abdellatif Bejaoui, Ezzedine Saïdi, Dalila Zaghbib-Turki

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Campanian-Maastrichtian (C-M) sediments in the Kalâat Senan area (north-western Tunisia) include rich microfauna. Small benthic foraminifera (SBF) analysis at the Wadi Necham (ON) section reveals significant biostratigraphic and palaeoecological changes during the C-M transition. A progressive evolutionary trend within the Bolivinoides lineage allowed us to establish the late Campanian B. decoratus Interval Range Zone (IRZ) and two successive zones in the early Maastrichtian, namely the B. miliaris IRZ and the B. draco Total Range Zone (TRZ), which span the standard planktonic foraminifera Gansserina gansseri IRZ. Foraminiferal semiquantitative data from the C-M transition interval at the studied section yield high values …
