การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษานาฏกรรมในพิธีกรรมปัญโจลมะม็วด จังหวัดสุรินทร์ เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยศึกษาข้อมูลจากเอกสาร การสัมภาษณ์ การสังเกตการณ์และการมีส่วนร่วม ผลการวิจัยพบว่า พิธีกรรมปัญโจลมะม็วด เป็นพิธีกรรมในการรักษาโรคตามคติความเชื่อของคนกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์เขมรว่าผู้ป่วยมีสิ่งชั่วร้ายเข้าสิง จึงต้องให้มะม็วดซึ่งเป็นสตรีในสายตระกูลเท่านั้นมาทำพิธีเข้าทรงเชิญวิญญาณศักดิ์สิทธิ์มากำจัดสิ่งชั่วร้ายนั้น พิธีมี 11 ขั้นตอน คือ 1. การปรับพื้นที่ตามฤกษ์ 2. การปลูกปะรำพิธี 3. การนำผู้ป่วยเข้าประจำที่ 4. การโหมโรงดนตรี 5. การไหว้วิญญาณศักดิ์สิทธิ์ 6. การรำเข้าทรงของมะม็วด 7. การรำกำจัดสิ่งชั่วร้าย 8. การรำเชิญวิญญาณศักดิ์สิทธิ์มาช่วยรักษา 9. การรำเชิญวิญญาณทั้งหมดกลับ 10. การรำเรียกขวัญผู้ป่วย 11.การรำลา นาฏกรรมในพิธีกรรมนี้ปรากฏอยู่ 3 วัตถุประสงค์ คือ 1. การรำบวงสรวง คือ การรำไหว้วิญญาณศักดิ์สิทธิ์ทั้งปวง 2. การรำรักษา คือ การรำดาบเพื่อฟันสิ่งชั่วร้าย 3. การรำเฉลิมฉลอง คือ การรำเพื่อยินดีกับผู้ป่วยที่รักษาหาย ผลการวิจัยเป็นประโยชน์ต่อการศึกษาด้านนาฏยศิลป์ไทย เป็นการอนุรักษ์และสืบทอดศิลปวัฒนธรรมท้องถิ่นให้คงอยู่ต่อไปและยังสามารถเชื่อมโยงไปสู่กระบวนการการสร้างความสามัคคี อันนำไปสู่ความสงบสุขร่มเย็นของสังคมไทย

ในขณะที่การศึกษาเรื่องการก่อร้ายมักปรากฏภาพผู้ชายเป็นตัวแสดงหลักในฐานะผู้นำกองกำลังและผู้ปฏิบัติการ กรณีศึกษานี้ต้องการนำเสนอภาพของผู้หญิงเข้ามาเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการศึกษาเรื่องการก่อการร้าย โดยเฉพาะกรณีมือระเบิดพลีชีพสตรีมุสลิมกลุ่มแม่หม้ายดำ (Black widow) ในสาธารณรัฐเชเชน สหพันธรัฐรัสเซีย เพื่อค้นหาคำอธิบายถึงการพลิกบทบาทจากเหยื่อของสงครามมาสู่การเป็นผู้ก่อเหตุความรุนแรง ผ่านกรอบทฤษฎีสตรีนิยมหลังอาณานิคม (Post Colonial Feminism) ที่ผู้เขียนเชื่อว่าสามารถนำมาใช้ทำความเข้าใจถึงการเปลี่ยนแปลงโครงสร้างทางสังคมในระดับท้องถิ่น และอธิบายถึงการโต้กลับความรุนแรงเชิงโครงสร้าง อันเป็นผลสืบเนื่องมาจากภาวะสงครามและการดำรงอยู่ของระบอบชายเป็นใหญ่ในสังคมนอกจากนี้ ผู้เขียนยังต้องการสื่อให้เห็นถึงปรากฎการณ์การเปลี่ยนแปลงสถานะของผู้หญิงในพื้นที่ความขัดแย้งต่างๆ ทั่วโลกที่มีแนวโน้มพลิกบทบาทมาเป็นผู้ก่อการร้ายมากขึ้น ซึ่งเป็นปัจจัยหนึ่งที่สะท้อนให้เห็นว่า การใช้ความรุนแรงของรัฐบาลในการปราบปรามชนกลุ่มน้อย กลุ่มแบ่งแยกดินแดน ตลอดจนผู้เห็นต่างทางการเมืองนั้น อาจนำมาสู่การโต้กลับความรุนแรงไม่ว่าทางใดก็ทางหนึ่ง และสามารถยกระดับเป็นปัญหาก่อการร้าย ซึ่งถือเป็นภัยคุกคามรูปแบบใหม่ที่ส่งผลกระทบต่อความมั่นคงทั้งระดับภายในรัฐและระดับระหว่างประเทศได้ ด้วยมีความมุ่งหวังอย่างแรงกล้าว่า สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้จะสามารถสร้างความตระหนักให้แก่ภาครัฐหรือหน่วยงานความมั่นคงหันกลับมาพิจารณาทบทวนแนวทางการใช้มาตรการรุนแรงกับประชาชนได้ไม่มากก็น้อย

"And Nothing She Needs": Victoria's Secret And The Gaze Of "Post-Feminism", Marc Ouellette

A study of the Victoria’s Secret catalogues, which frames the period 1996-2006, reveals that the models’ poses and postures manipulate the formulaic gaze of objectification with seemingly empowering themes. Instead of the indeterminate, averted looks that Berger (1972) and Mulvey (1989) considered in their analyses, the more recent versions of Victoria’s Secret photographs confront viewers with pouts, glares, and stares of defiance. In this essay, I contribute to current conversations regarding mixed messages that concern post-feminism and third-wave feminism (Duffy, Hancock, & Tyler, 2017; Glapka, 2017; McAllister & DeCarvalho, 2014; McRobbie, 2009). Feminism conjures divisive and at times conflicting thoughts and feelings in the current political climate in the United States. For some, Wonder Woman is a feminist icon, for her devotion to truth, justice, and equality. In recent years, Wonder Woman has become successful in the film industry, and this is reflected by the growing community of cosplayers at comic book conventions. In this study, I examine gender performativity, gender identity, and feminism from the perspective of cosplayers of Wonder Woman. JUSTICE Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.'s “marketplace of ideas” analogy continues to deeply influence First Amendment doctrine. It provides a rational substratum upon which the political or self-realization characterizations of free speech are built. However, typically overlooked is the Social Darwinistic root of the Justice's thought. He championed the spread of ideas and the political sway of majority opinions. That analytical insight is key to many of the Supreme Court's free speech precedents. In Madness Narratives, I examine four understudied texts at the intersection of Victorian asylums, patients’ lack of voice, and resistance narratives. I argue that these texts all reject the silencing power of the insanity diagnosis as they represent patients, former patients, and asylum reformers creating counternarratives that call for recognition of the patients’ humanity and right to be heard. In my first chapter, “Narrating Insanity: Constructing the Madness Narrative in Charles Reade’s Hard Cash,” I assert that Reade’s 1863 novel proposes a nuanced understanding of the insanity diagnosis as a collaboratively-composed story that justifies the confinement of the …

The traditional notion of the Male Gaze, first conceptualized by feminist film critic Laura Mulvey in 1975, focused on the objectification of women through depictions structured to gratify a male heterosexual perspective. In this chapter we will revisit this concept and investigate how that gaze may have shifted away from a primarily heterosexual perspective to a socially dominant male perspective (maleness here referring to dominance rather than specific gender, just as “whiteness” might refer to privilege rather than race). Research has shown that more than 45% of American companies are opting to integrate personality tests in their recruitment processes. Given this surge in personality testing, this thesis examines whether personality testing is a valid predictor of job-fit and performance in the context of personnel selection. A large proportion of this paper is focused upon the Big-Five factor model, its limitations, and derivative tests of the model. The impact of technology upon personality testing is also discussed as an emerging field.
