Improving Clinical Outcomes By Evolving Mindset And Creating A Culture Of Hope And Recovery, Aubrey Suzanne Williams
Improving Clinical Outcomes By Evolving Mindset And Creating A Culture Of Hope And Recovery, Aubrey Suzanne Williams
Biennial Convention (CONV)
In healthcare, nurses/caregivers have personal bias that can impact the care of patients. How do healthcare workers overcome their bias to provide the best possible care? The journey to improve outcomes for NAS infants has to include not only the treatment of the patient, but education that involves parents/caregiver.

Lived Kardecism - A Phenomenological Approach To Understanding Brazilian Spiritism, William Miller
Lived Kardecism - A Phenomenological Approach To Understanding Brazilian Spiritism, William Miller
Doctor of Philosophy Dissertation
Miller, William D. “Lived Kardecism: A Phenomenological Approach to Understanding Brazilian Spiritism.” Ph.D. diss., Concordia Seminary, 2019. 327 pp.
This dissertation addresses a problem that faces the researcher of Brazilian Spiritism, namely that there is a need for a particular kind of account that takes the lived experience of religion as its foundation; an account of the lived experience of Spiritists who practice Spiritism as a religion in the Brazilian context and find value in it for their spiritual journey. This study answers the question as to how Spiritists articulate what is spiritual, relate to religion, and experience spiritual significance …
Recycling A Colonial Puritan Sermon: A Case Study, David M. Powers
Recycling A Colonial Puritan Sermon: A Case Study, David M. Powers
Sermon Studies
Notes which the teenager John Pynchon took in the 1640s as he listened to the Rev. George Moxon’s sermons in frontier Springfield, MA, have become the inspiration and the ingredients for sermon performances in 21st century New England. The project began with a word-for-word transcription of a symbol-for-symbol manuscript based on a code invented by Pynchon. Then a very few words which the notetaker skipped, in his rush to record just what he heard, were added to provide essential clarification. So, too, was introductory material to frame the experience by encouraging the listening congregation to “stretch” a bit to appreciate …

Improving Spiritual Health Through Intentional Screening And Targeted Interventions In Primary Care, Erika Benfield
Biennial Convention (CONV)
After a targeted translational intervention was applied in primary care, analysis of the improvement outcomes indicated that there is a need for routine screening for spiritual health status in primary care, but further research is necessary to develop the best approach for successful, time-efficient screening in the future.

Vice & Virtue As Woman?: The Iconography Of Gender Identity In The Late Anglo-Saxon Psychomachia Illustrations, Stephenie Mcgucken
Vice & Virtue As Woman?: The Iconography Of Gender Identity In The Late Anglo-Saxon Psychomachia Illustrations, Stephenie Mcgucken
Medieval Feminist Forum: A Journal of Gender and Sexuality
In the Late Anglo-Saxon illustrated manuscripts of Prudentius's Psychomachia, vice and virtue are often shown ambiguously and the audience is encouraged to question what is male and what is female, and whether such categories are appropriate in understanding these illustrations. This paper utilises transgender theory to demonstrate how gender could be deployed in Late Anglo-Saxon manuscripts to question the roles of men and women with the ultimate aim of stressing the importance of righteous behaviours.
Catholicism In The Neonatal Context: Belief, Practice, Challenge, Hope, M. Therese Lysaught Phd
Catholicism In The Neonatal Context: Belief, Practice, Challenge, Hope, M. Therese Lysaught Phd
Institute of Pastoral Studies: Faculty Publications and Other Works
Roman Catholics comprise the largest single denomination in the United States and are the nation’s largest group of not-for-profit healthcare providers. Yet, there is little or no available literature to assist neonatal caregivers in understanding how religious beliefs and values might influence parents’ responses to the challenges posed by their newborn’s care. Equally, there is little or no available literature on the academic or pastoral side addressing questions of neonatal medicine from a theological perspective. This chapter addresses how Roman Catholic teachings might affect the ways in which parents and caregivers make treatment decisions. It examines the neonatal context in …
