This study analyzes the effect that the chaplain’s knowledge of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) has on his or her ministry resiliency. The purpose of this study is to discover if there is a correlation between the military chaplain’s level of resilience and his or her knowledge of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. The U.S. Assemblies of God Cooperative Fellowship (AG) remains one of the least educated, and least interested in education, denominations. A perceived disconnect between graduate-level learning and practical application deters many AG pastors away from continuing their education, leading to a nationwide trend of not being “welleducated.” AG pastors have a different set of values than mainstream evangelical denominations. Thus, the pastors seek their pastoral development from sources other than mainstream higher education. If universities can create more opportunities for practical training within typical course work, provide wisdom and character development, and facilitate mentoring relationships, then AG ministers would be …

School Based Responses To Non-Suicidal Self Injury And Suicide: Literature Considerations When Framing A Policy Response, Martin Wiseman, Shannon O'Gorman
School Based Responses To Non-Suicidal Self Injury And Suicide: Literature Considerations When Framing A Policy Response, Martin Wiseman, Shannon O'Gorman
eJournal of Catholic Education in Australasia
Deliberate Non-Suicidal Self Injury (NSSI) and suicide present distinct but related concerns for schools. An Australian study of over 6,300 families containing children/ adolescents aged 4 to 17 years found that one in 10 young people had engaged with NSSI – with three quarters of this cohort having harmed themselves in the previous twelve months (Lawrence, 2015). The same study found that within the 12 to 17 year old age group, one in 13 individuals had considered suicide in the previous 12 months, with one in 40 having made attempts (Lawrence, 2015). This article seeks to articulate key themes from …

For Colored Girls And Boys Who Have Considered Suicide/ When Prayer And Good Music Weren’T Enough, Joshua K. Wright
Journal of Hip Hop Studies
April Adams, a 22-year-old Christian graduate student at Howard University, struggled with mental illness for years. Like so many blacks, April expected her faith to serve an elixir for her problems, including depression. However, her prayers were not sufficient. When she was unable to find solace in the church, she sought out an alternative source: the music of Kanye West. She shared her story in a 2016 article, “How An Ultralight Beam Helped My Dark Depression,” which she published in Abernathy magazine. April’s story speaks to the disconnect that many millennials have with the church. Nowhere in her article did …

Adult Patient Perceptions Of Nurse Listening Behaviors In An Acute Care Setting, Nancy E. Loos
Adult Patient Perceptions Of Nurse Listening Behaviors In An Acute Care Setting, Nancy E. Loos
Dissertations
Good listening is fundamental to effective nursing practice, critical to a healthcare professional's competence, and essential for patient satisfaction and experience. Because nurse listening has been linked to an enhanced patient experience and improved patient outcomes, it has been considered important enough that the U.S. Centers for Medicare or Medicaid Services have solicited patient perception as part of the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey (CMS, n.d.). However, little can be found in the literature that describes which nursing behaviors are perceived by patients as listening behaviors. Via face-to-face interviews, this study sought to discover, describe, …
