Out-Of-Class Language Learning Strategies Of Thai University Students During Participant In The Summer Work And Travel Program, Thunyaporn Thanasumbun
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
It has long believed that in-class instruction alone is not sufficient to promote language skill development of second and foreign language learners, so spending time during school break in a country where the target language is spoken is one way to further increase their language proficiency outside classes. The present study aimed to investigate out-of-class language learning strategies and intercultural competence skills of 353 Thai undergraduate students who participated in the Summer Work and Travel Program in the United States in the year 2018. Quantitative data were collected using the Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) developed by Oxford (1990) …

In Search Of The ‘Right’ Kind Of Financialization: Politics Of Financial Inclusion In Thailand, Frank Tyler Oneal
In Search Of The ‘Right’ Kind Of Financialization: Politics Of Financial Inclusion In Thailand, Frank Tyler Oneal
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This thesis is a critical observation of the politics of financial inclusion in Thailand from 2001 until the present time. The systemic approach embedded in the Political Economy of Complex Interdependence encourages us to focus on the coevolution of financial innovation and regulation. With data collected through interviews, field observations, and doctrinal analysis, I argue that neoliberal axioms embedded in the first policies to expand financial services evolved to engender the financialization of everyday life under auspices of financial inclusion. Furthermore, how the interdependence of financial development and Thaksin's transformative policies recoupled subjects away from the state, and to the …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

A question that Christians might ask is, if Jesus was so entrenched within and embracive of Judaism, then why did he condemn Jewish leaders and why was he ultimately rejected and killed by his fellow Jews? In this and the next four chapters (chapters 6–10) we will challenge the assumptions of that very question and illustrate that “the Jews” did not reject and kill Jesus, and that Jesus did not reject and condemn “the Jews.” We will explore the relationship between Jesus and his peers. We start in this chapter by looking at Judas, whose story is perhaps Exhibit A …

Introduction: Pregnant women and infants are at risk of severe influenza and pertussis infection. Inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV) and diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis vaccine (dTpa) are recommended during pregnancy to protect both mothers and infants. In Australia, uptake is not routinely monitored but coverage appears sub-optimal. Evidence on the safety of combined antenatal IIV and dTpa is fragmented or deficient, and there remain knowledge gaps of population-level vaccine effectiveness. We aim to establish a large, population-based, multi-jurisdictional cohort of mother-infant pairs to measure the uptake, safety and effectiveness of antenatal IIV and dTpa vaccines in three Australian jurisdictions. This is a first …
