Epidemiological studies have found an increased incidence of neurodevelopmental disorders in populations prenatally exposed to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Optical imaging provides a minimally invasive way to determine if perinatal SSRI exposure has long-term effects on cortical function. Herein we probed the functional neuroimaging effects of perinatal SSRI exposure in a fluoxetine (FLX)-exposed mouse model. While resting-state homotopic contralateral functional connectivity was unperturbed, the evoked cortical response to forepaw stimulation was altered in FLX mice. The stimulated cortex showed decreased activity for FLX versus controls, by both hemodynamic responses [oxyhemoglobin (HbO

What Do Chinese Clients Want?, Ji Li, Wei Zhang
Research Collection Yong Pung How School Of Law
The world’s two largest economies are locked in an escalating trade war, and caught in the crossfire are hundreds of Chinese multinational companies (MNCs) that have made substantial U.S. investments. Facing heightened legal risks in a less hospitable environment, the Chinese MNCs increasingly depend on local lawyers. Yet, their purchase of U.S. legal service, a topic of both practical and theoretical importance, has received little attention. To fill the gap, this article empirically investigates how Chinese companies in the United States select their U.S. legal counsel. By analyzing a unique dataset, the article finds that Chinese MNC managers uniformly prioritize …
Environmental Pollution Control In Singapore: The Intersection Of Torts, Statutes, Regulations And Community Norms, Gary Kok Yew Chan
Environmental Pollution Control In Singapore: The Intersection Of Torts, Statutes, Regulations And Community Norms, Gary Kok Yew Chan
Research Collection Yong Pung How School Of Law
Singapore is a land-scarce, densely populated, urbanized and technology-driven society. Despite her image as a clean and green environment, serious challenges remain to keep environmental pollution at bay. Both private and public laws, whether based on statutes or common law, as well as a host of regulations and community norms collectively regulate environmental pollution in Singapore. Statutory provisions targeting environmental pollution rely on criminal punishment, administrative measures and also compensatory damages awarded to victims in the event of breaches of specified statutory duties. The Environmental Pollution Control Act 1999, together with the implementing subsidiary legislation, seeks to minimise or mitigate …
Sirna Targeting And Treatment Of Gastrointestinal Diseases., Rachel Chevalier
Sirna Targeting And Treatment Of Gastrointestinal Diseases., Rachel Chevalier
Manuscripts, Articles, Book Chapters and Other Papers
RNA interference via small interfering RNA (siRNA) offers opportunities to precisely target genes that contribute to gastrointestinal (GI) pathologies, such as inflammatory bowel disease, celiac, and esophageal scarring. Delivering the siRNA to the GI tract proves challenging as the harsh environment of the intestines degrades the siRNA before it can reach its target or blocks its entry into its site of action in the cytoplasm. Additionally, the GI tract is large and disease is often localized to a specific site. This review discusses polymer and lipid-based delivery systems for protection and targeting of siRNA therapies to the GI tract to …

© 2019 by the authors. Framelets theory has been well studied in many applications in image processing, data recovery and computational analysis due to the key properties of framelets such as sparse representation and accuracy in coefficients recovery in the area of numerical and computational theory. This work is devoted to shedding some light on the benefits of using such framelets in the area of numerical computations of integral equations. We introduce a new numerical method for solving Volterra integral equations. It is based on pseudo-spline quasi-affine tight framelet systems generated via the oblique extension principles. Number of journals is raising exponentially. Consequently authors have a problem which journal to select when publishing their research. Journal portfolios including information like impact factors and productivity trends, state of the art topics, topics evolution and citation patterns might help authors to select the journal where their paper will have optimal chances to be published, read and cited. To build portfolios we used two approaches; namely descriptive bibliometric analysis to extract distribution of types of documents, most prolific authors, institutions, countries, citation histories, etc. and bibliometric mapping to visualize the content
Our study showed that journals portfolios can improve …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
This research paper examines the validity of the use of bibliometric law for research on bronchitis literature worldwide. The various bibliometric laws of the lotka’s law and Zipf's law in their mathematical expressions often present difficulties in adapting the observed values. The result indicates that the author's productivity according to Lotka's law is consistent with research on bronchitis literature worldwide. The law of the price square root is not applicable with the author's productivity information. Zipf’s law was applied to identify publications about the frequency of word occurrence.

—Game testing has been long recognized as a notoriously challenging task, which mainly relies on manual playing and scripting based testing in game industry. Even until recently, automated game testing still remains to be largely untouched niche. A key challenge is that game testing often requires to play the game as a sequential decision process. A bug may only be triggered until completing certain difficult intermediate tasks, which requires a certain level of intelligence. The recent success of deep reinforcement learning (DRL) sheds light on advancing automated game testing, without human competitive intelligent support. However, the existing DRLs mostly focus …

Consumption of diets with low glycemic impact is highly recommended for diabetics and pre-diabetics as it helps maintain their blood glucose levels. However, laboratory analysis of dietary glycemic potency is time-consuming and expensive. In this paper, we explore a data-driven approach utilizing online crowdsourcing and machine learning to estimate the glycemic impact of cooking recipes. We show that a commonly used healthiness metric may not always be effective in determining recipes suitable for diabetics, thus emphasizing the importance of the glycemic-impact estimation task. Our best classification model, trained on nutritional and crowdsourced data obtained from Amazon Mechanical Turk (AMT), can …

Pennsylvania has the third highest rate of death due to drug overdose (44.3 per 100,000) in the country, which is significantly higher than the national rate. This continues to have drastic societal impact. Medication assisted treatment (MAT), which includes opioid agonist medications, is the gold standard in treatment for OUD; however, a significant gap remains between the number of individuals in need of treatment and the number of MAT providers. Penn State Health established a system to address the opioid epidemic through the Pennsylvania Coordinated Medication Assisted Treatment program utilizing lessons learned from existing validated models. Connecting primary care sites …

Utilization Of Bedside Shift Report To Decrease Medication Errors On A Cardiac Progressive Care Unit, Maud Millicent Acquah Nelson
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Medication errors cause millions of deaths every year in the United States. Miscommunication during the transition of care accounts for the highest number of such errors. The lack of patientinclusion in information exchange among nurses during the change of shift prevents reliable and accurate information exchange and threatens patients’ safety. Inadequate transfer of patient information from one nurse to the other on a hospital unit can cause unfair irreversible harm to the patient and even death. Orlando’s (1961) dynamic nurse-patient relationship theory explained the interdependent relationship between the nurse and the patient in achieving excellent treatment outcomes. This descriptive, inferential …
