Positive Or Negative: How Affect Influences Physical Activity Behavior In Adults, Anna K. Forster, Elizabeth A. Richards, Karen J. Foli, Melissa M. Franks, Zachary Hass
Positive Or Negative: How Affect Influences Physical Activity Behavior In Adults, Anna K. Forster, Elizabeth A. Richards, Karen J. Foli, Melissa M. Franks, Zachary Hass
Biennial Convention (CONV)
Physical activity is known to influence affect. The degree to which positive/negative affect influences physical activity is less understood. This integrated review looks at how individual level positive or negative affect can influence physical activity behavior. Knowing how affect can influence physical activity may lead to suggestions for future interventions.

Impact Of A Multidisciplinary Shared Medical Appointment On Depression, Quality Of Life, And Health Promotion, Teresa A. Law, Stacey J. Jones, Shellye A. Vardaman
Biennial Convention (CONV)
Shared medical appointments offer an innovative approach to chronic disease management and allow for positive engagement by patients with self-management. Using a multidisciplinary approach to shared medical appointments with congestive heart failure patients shows a reduction in depression, and an increase in quality of life and health promotion behaviors.

The Experience Of Substance Use Recovery: A Thematic Content Analysis Of Anonymous Online Posts, Diana Krishnan
Biennial Convention (CONV)
Thematic analysis of anonymous posts in an online substance use recovery forum has provided valuable insights into the lived experience of recovery. As nurses, these insights teach us to address the agony of withdrawals, acknowledge the emotional and psychological needs of our patients, and encourage self-care and healthy coping.

Conversations Had At Trying Times (Chatt): Development & Testing Of An Advance Care Planning Simulation, Amisha Parekh De Campos
Biennial Convention (CONV)
This presentation will describe a simulation study in advance care planning called Conversations Had at Trying Times (CHATT). This two-phase study consists of simulation development, through standardized guidelines, and simulation testing among registered nurses. The simulation outcomes focus on empowering RNs to have patient-centered conversations in a safe environment.
The Accuracy Of Machine Learning To Predict Cardiac Arrest: A Systematic Review, Laura Marie Moffat
The Accuracy Of Machine Learning To Predict Cardiac Arrest: A Systematic Review, Laura Marie Moffat
Biennial Convention (CONV)
This systematic review sought to determine if machine learning models more accurately predict in-hospital cardiac arrest when compared to the modified early warning score. Five of five studies demonstrated that machine learning models more accurately predicted cardiac arrest hours before the event occurred with fewer false alarms.
Cancer And Substance Use Disorders: Learning To Navigate Both Diseases Simultaneously, Amy Velasquez
Cancer And Substance Use Disorders: Learning To Navigate Both Diseases Simultaneously, Amy Velasquez
Biennial Convention (CONV)
Assessing risk of addiction in cancer patients has been viewed as unnecessary in the past. Cancer patients are not immune to the opioid epidemic. The lack of training for cancer clinicians to be able to properly assess their patients for risk of addictions is placing a strain on patient care.

Social-Emotional Learning In Middle School: A Mixed-Methods Evaluation Of The Strong Kids Program, Erin Larsen Neth
Social-Emotional Learning In Middle School: A Mixed-Methods Evaluation Of The Strong Kids Program, Erin Larsen Neth
Theses and Dissertations
Strong Kids is a social-emotional curriculum designed to reduce students' externalizing and internalizing symptoms. Strong Kids has shown promise in elementary school, but this was the first study to evaluate the newly updated version of the intervention in a middle school setting. The curriculum was implemented by two general education teachers with students at-risk for emotional and behavioral disorders. A mixed method design was used to evaluate outcomes with eight middle school students. Overall findings suggest that Strong Kids was effective at improving students' social emotional knowledge and internalizing symptoms; however, there were no significant changes in students' externalizing symptoms. …

Here, we report 17 nearly complete genome sequences of enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) isolated from Kansas City, MO, in 2018. Phylogenetic analysis suggests that these strains belong to subclade B3, similar to the ones that caused the 2016 epidemics in the United States but different from the 2014 outbreak B1 strains.
