This was a quantitative study utilizing a convenience sample of faculty at one school of nursing. Multiple gratitude interventions were implemented throughout the year and a pre and post survey administered to measure effectiveness of interventions. The findings showed an improvement of 17.9% in overall job satisfaction.

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between an individual’s involvement in Lifelong Learning Institutes (LLIs) and his or her propensity for philanthropic giving to the institute or its hosting college or university. The dataset was acquired through a survey administered to eleven Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes (OLLIs) in the United States. Data analysis was conducted on seven research questions which explored how the length, type, and frequency of participation, as well as the level satisfaction, commitment, and feelings of community may relate to an LLI participant’s inclination to donate. Purpose of this project was to determine the effects of reducing the incidence of falls for adults aged sixty five years and older living in their homes. Falls and accidents seldom “just happen” and many can be prevented. This project provided adults >=65 living in their home a safer environmental atmosphere and an ongoing exercise program. VNA staff received training at four additional office sites. The program decreased the fall risk for the sample group.

Rates of cohabitation have increased sharply among adults of all ages over the past few decades, particularly among adults ages 50 and older. Researchers have observed key differences between younger cohabiters and older cohabiters. Whereas younger cohabiters are more likely to be cohabiting as a path towards marriage, older cohabiters are more likely to be cohabiting after a previous marriage that may have ended in divorce. With increasing divorce rates among adults 50 and older, rates of cohabitation among this age group may continue to rise. Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is an atherosclerotic disease that is associated with attenuated vascular function, cardiorespiratory capacity, physical function, and muscular strength. It is essential to combat these negative effects on health by incorporating lifestyle interventions to slow disease progression, such as exercise. We sought to examine the effects of aquatic walking exercise on cardiovascular function, cardiorespiratory capacity [maximal volume of oxygen consumption (V̇o2max)], exercise tolerance [6-min walking distance (6MWD)], physical function, muscular strength, and body composition in patients with PAD. Objective This paper examines whether multidimensional indicators of objective and subjective socioeconomic status (SES) across the life course can be categorized into latent classes of SES mobility and tests the associations of these categories with inflammation markers among White and Black adults.

Methods Data are from 592 non-Hispanic White and 158 non-Hispanic Black participants who completed both the baseline survey and biomarkers assessment of the Midlife in the United States (MIDUS) Refresher study. Groups of different SES mobility were examined using latent class analysis.

Background:

Budgetary constraints at West Virginia University (WVU) in combination with the impending expiration/renewal of “big deal” contracts forced the WVU Collections Advisory Committee (CAC) to implement the unbundling of three major journal packages. Wiley was the first package unbundled in 2017, followed by Elsevier Science Direct and Springer packages in 2018-19.

Methods:

The CAC determined criteria to use to consider whether or not to keep specific journal titles, including total uses, cost per use, and number of papers published and references used from each title by WVU faculty members over a 3-year period. Journals were ranked for each of …

The increasing complexity of medication regimens leaves older adults vulnerable to the hazards of polypharmacy and adverse drug reactions especially during care transitions. This comprehensive EBP project demonstrated an overall improvement in high-risk medication knowledge from a group mean of 3.8 (Pre) to 4.42 (Post), meeting the defined 4.0 benchmark.

There is a high prevalence of asymptomatic bacteriuria in elderly long-term care facility (LTCF) residents. Antibiotics are frequently prescribed in reflex to diagnostic tests in the absence of signs or symptoms of urinary tract infection (UTI). An evidence-based eLearning module was developed to improve antibiotic stewardship regarding UTI in LTCFs.
