Getting Sexual And Gender Minority Health “Into The Brick And Mortar”: A Mixed Methods Implementation Study, Mandi Pratt-Chapman
Getting Sexual And Gender Minority Health “Into The Brick And Mortar”: A Mixed Methods Implementation Study, Mandi Pratt-Chapman
Doctor of Philosophy in Translational Health Sciences Dissertations
Sexual and gender minorities (SGM) have unique health risks and health care needs, but medical students receive little training on SGM health (Obedin-Maliver, et al., 2011). This mixed methods study sought to learn from curricular champions in diverse settings to apply lessons learned at the George Washington University (GW). Exploratory models that included eight potential predictor variables for six criterion variables were tested using multiple linear regression. Criterion variables were: knowledge, attitudes, and clinical preparedness measured by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Development of Clinical Skills Scale (LGBT-DOCSS; Bidell, 2017); attitudes measured by the Attitudes Toward LGBT Patients Scale …

Best practices suggest that timely, actionable feedback is provided with the option to apply the feedback. We used a learning management system to deliver assessments with automatic feedback provided at the conclusion of the assessment, allowing for multiple attempts in order to apply the knowledge gained. Questions were pooled so each attempt was unique, the highest score earned was awarded, with no penalty for failure to use multiple attempts. We found that students who did not earn an A on their first attempt were more likely to try again. Those that did tended to score better on their second attempt. …
Connecting Local-Scale Heavy Precipitation To Large-Scale Meteorological Patterns Over Portland, Oregon Using Observations And Climate Models, Christina Marie Aragon
Connecting Local-Scale Heavy Precipitation To Large-Scale Meteorological Patterns Over Portland, Oregon Using Observations And Climate Models, Christina Marie Aragon
Dissertations and Theses
Precipitation timing and magnitude is essential to human, ecological, and economic systems. Climate change may be altering the character of precipitation locally to globally, thus it is vital that resource managers, practitioners, and decision makers understand the nature of this change. This thesis was conducted in partnership with the City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services (BES), and the Portland Water Bureau (PWB) in order to support resiliency planning around precipitation and precipitation extremes.
This work has two primary phases, which are discussed in chapter 2 and 3 of this thesis. The first phase of this research entails characterization of …
Visualizing Research Collaboration In Statistical Science: A Scientometric Perspective, Prabir Kumar Das
Visualizing Research Collaboration In Statistical Science: A Scientometric Perspective, Prabir Kumar Das
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Using Sankhyā – The Indian Journal of Statistics as a case, present study aims to identify scholarly collaboration pattern of statistical science based on research articles appeared during 2008 to 2017. This is an attempt to visualize and quantify statistical science research collaboration in multiple dimensions by exploring the co-authorship data. It investigates chronological variations of collaboration pattern, nodes and links established among the affiliated institutions and countries of all contributing authors. The study also examines the impact of research collaboration on citation scores. Findings reveal steady influx of statistical publications with clear tendency towards collaborative ventures, of which double-authored …
Social Determinants Of Health Inequality: Predictors Of Hiv Transmission Among African Americans In The Deep South, Kayla Allison
Social Determinants Of Health Inequality: Predictors Of Hiv Transmission Among African Americans In The Deep South, Kayla Allison
LSU Doctoral Dissertations
HIV/AIDS has become an epidemic in Black communities in the Deep South, which poses a major public health crisis. Unfortunately, the lack of attention from health officials has resulted in African Americans experiencing the greatest burden of the disease as compared to any other racial/ethnic group. Thus, this cross-sectional, correlational study examined predictors of HIV transmission with an emphasis on the course of the disease among African Americans in the Deep South region of the United States given the legacy of slavery, historical racism, and plight of African Americans in this geographical area. The institution of slavery was not isolated …
