Malate Dehydrogenase Allele Frequencies In Honeybee Populations And Its Correlation With Temperature, Thitipan Meemongkolkiat Jan 2019

Malate Dehydrogenase Allele Frequencies In Honeybee Populations And Its Correlation With Temperature, Thitipan Meemongkolkiat

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Temperature is one of the major factors that affect on the variation in honeybee in term of DNA and protein variants. The aim of this study is to investigate whether the three structural variants of the cytosolic malate dehydrogenase (cMDH) protein of the honeybee can explain clinal variation in allele frequencies. To test the hypothesis that there is a molecular basis to the temperature-dependent fitness of cMDH variation, the enzymic activity was determined across a range of temperatures in vitro. The F and S alleles have higher activity and are less sensitive to high temperatures than the M allele. Next, …

Synthesis And Photocatalytic Activity Of Ag-Tio2 For Organic Compound Removal, Tri Rahmawati Jan 2019

Synthesis And Photocatalytic Activity Of Ag-Tio2 For Organic Compound Removal, Tri Rahmawati

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Organic pollutants such as dyes and volatile organic compounds which are widely used materials in industries and discharged daily to the aqueous environment can be harmful to human health. This present study proposed an environmentally friendly approach for silver-doped titanium dioxide (Ag-TiO2) synthesis as a photocatalyst material used as photocatalytic organic pollutant degradation. The synthesis of Ag-TiO2 was conducted by using dry and wet ball milling sol−gel method with the aqueous extract of turmeric powder under 6000C calcination. The effect of different Ag contents of 0.5%, 1%, 3%, and 6% in Ag-TiO2 on the degradation of the organic pollutants was …

Tio2–Based Mixed Oxide Photocatalysts For Oxidative Desulfurization, Tu Thi Phuong Nguyen Jan 2019

Tio2–Based Mixed Oxide Photocatalysts For Oxidative Desulfurization, Tu Thi Phuong Nguyen

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

This work reports the synthesis of TiO2-WO3 and TiO2-SiO2 composites using sol-gel method. The prepared composites were used as catalysts in photocatalytic oxidative desulfurization of dibenzothiophene (DBT). TiO2-SiO2 composites were also prepared by wet impregnation method to study the effect of synthesis methods on the photocatalytic efficiency. The prepared materials were characterized by XRD, FTIR, N2 adsorption-desorption, SEM, NH3-TPD, DRUV and PL analysis. The catalytic results for WO3-TiO2 composites show that the charge recombination was less occurred which was beneficial for enhancing the photocatalytic efficiency. Interestingly, WO3-TiO2 composites could be activated under visible irradiation and most of them showed higher …

The Effect Of Estrogen And Chronic Mild Stress On Gabaergic System And Anxiety- Like Behavior In Ovariectomized Rat, Sushawadee Tongta Jan 2019

The Effect Of Estrogen And Chronic Mild Stress On Gabaergic System And Anxiety- Like Behavior In Ovariectomized Rat, Sushawadee Tongta

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Stress in daily life and estrogen deprivation are known factors contributed to anxiety and depression. In animal models, anxiety-liked behaviors were demonstrated in ovariectomized or stress-exposed subjects. However, it was not clarified whether anxiety-liked behavior would be worsen when ovariectomized animals were exposed to mild stressors. The aims of this study were then designed to investigate (1) the effect of estrogen deprivation and chronic mild stresses (CMS) on anxiety- and depressive-liked behaviors and (2) the effect of estrogen receptor activation i.e. ERβ or GPR30 in estrogen deprivation exposed to CMS on anxiety-liked behavior. The alterations of GABAergic transmission in the …

Development Of Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification For Rapid Detection Of Fungi In Peritoneal Dialysis, Tamonwan Chamroensakchai Jan 2019

Development Of Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification For Rapid Detection Of Fungi In Peritoneal Dialysis, Tamonwan Chamroensakchai

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Fungal peritonitis (FP) is a fatal complication in peritoneal dialysis (PD). Detection of fungal infection using standard culture is time-consuming and has a low sensitivity. While, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) are often inapplicable in remote hospital and laboratory. In this study, Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) assay was developed for rapid and specific detection of fungi in peritoneal dialysis. LAMP primers were designed based on the conserved sequence of fungal 18s rRNA gene. The reaction was optimized for 60 min at 64 ◦C. The sensitivity of LAMP assay was 1 pg/reaction which is a hundred times more sensitive than that of …
