A Three-Layered Robustness Analysis Of Cybersecurity: Attacks And Insights, David Schweitzer Dec 2019

A Three-Layered Robustness Analysis Of Cybersecurity: Attacks And Insights, David Schweitzer

Theses and Dissertations

Cybersecurity has become an increasingly important concern for both military and civilian infrastructure globally. Because of the complexity that comes with wireless networks, adversaries have many means of infiltration and disruption of wireless networks. While there is much research done in defending these networks, understanding the robustness of these networks is tantamount for both designing new networks and examining possible security deficiencies in preexisting networks. This dissertation proposes to examine the robustness of wireless networks on three major fronts: the physical layer, the data-link layer, and the network layer. At the physical layer, denial-of-service jamming attacks are considered, and both …

Is There More Than One Way To Talk About Sex? A Longitudinal Growth Mixture Model Of Parent-Adolescent Sex Communication, Laura M. Padilla-Walker, Adam A. Rogers, Ryan D. Mclean

Faculty Publications

Purpose: Parents can be effective and consistent sex educators of their children, but research suggests that most parents only engage in a one-time talk about sex with their children. That being said, we know little about the potential variability in trajectories of parent-child sex communication over time. Thus, the present study took a person-centered approach to parent-child sex communication about sexual risk and explored predictors and outcomes of varying trajectories.

Methods: Participants included 468 adolescents and their parents who took part in a longitudinal study every year from ages 14e18 years (52% female, 67% white, and 33% single parents). …

Student Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this research is to detail a case study of U.S. tourism to Cuba in a politicized context; specifically, to compare and contrast the Obama and Trump administrations. This study seeks to examine how the Cuban “brand” and the island’s overall tourism strategy is formulated, circulated, shaped and reshaped by various actors and the public in the changing context of the newly antagonistic bilateral U.S.-Cuba political relationship. The research questions explore issues of how diplomatic relations impact Cuban tourism and advertising messaging. This paper also discusses the changes in the U.S. news media coverage of Cuba as a …

Seton Hall University Dissertations and Theses (ETDs)

This descriptive correlational study examined the relationships between and among diabetes self-care, diabetes time management, and diabetes distress in women with type 2 (T2DM). A gap of knowledge exists between these variables and this study, guided by Orem’s self-care theory, aimed to identify these relationships and predictors of diabetes self-care. The sample (N = 188) was comprised of predominately White (81.4%) women recruited from multiple office locations, community hospitals, and diabetes support groups predominately from the Mid-Atlantic Region (64.04%). Participants voluntarily participated by responding to flyers posted in data collection locations or by electronic survey disseminated by diabetes support group …

Requirement Elicitation, Cameron Myers Dec 2019

Requirement Elicitation, Cameron Myers

Honors Theses

Requirement Elicitation is a flexible and malleable process that can be changed based upon the requirements of the analyst, stakeholders, and/or the application. In recent years analysts have given more distinction to the effectiveness and the types of result yielded based on the unique attributes of each elicitation technique. These distinctions arose because of advancing technology and use cases used when developing an application. Naturally, the elicitation techniques are advancing as well. They are advancing into different categories to better focus on yielding the right information to identify the right requirements. Such as behavioral techniques, cognitive techniques, contrived techniques, etc. …

A Hybrid Approach For Multi-Document Text Summarization, Rashmi Varma Dec 2019

A Hybrid Approach For Multi-Document Text Summarization, Rashmi Varma

Master's Projects

Text summarization has been a long studied topic in the field of natural language processing. There have been various approaches for both extractive text summarization as well as abstractive text summarization. Summarizing texts for a single document is a methodical task. But summarizing multiple documents poses as a greater challenge. This thesis explores the application of Latent Semantic Analysis, Text-Rank, Lex-Rank and Reduction algorithms for single document text summarization and compares it with the proposed approach of creating a hybrid system combining each of the above algorithms, individually, with Restricted Boltzmann Machines for multi-document text summarization and analyzing how all …

Long Island, New York has led the nation in parent opt-out rates. The Opt-Out Movement is a grassroots coalition of opposition to high-stakes tests that are used to sort students, evaluate teachers, and rank schools. Approximately 50% of students in grades three to eight opted out of the English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics tests in 2019 (“Projects: ELA and Math Opt-Outs 2016-2019,” 2019). Quantitative research has shown a racial disparity between parents who opted out and opted in with White, middle-class parents participating in the opt-out movement at greater rates than Latinx, Black, and Asian parents (Au, 2017; Bennett, …

During the past year, we've come to realize that the term learning ecosystem is widely used, but not usually defined or widely understood. Rather than taking the term for granted, we crafted this blog post to

• explore the origins of the term,

• discuss what it has come to mean, and its limitations

• explain how and why we are using the term in our study despite its limitations.

Long-Term Follow-Up Of Patients With Mantle Cell Lymphoma (Mcl) Treated With The Selective Bruton’S Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor Tirabrutinib (Gs/Ono-4059), Sa Rule, G Cartron, C Fegan, F Morschhauser, Et Al

Peninsula Medical School

To the Editor: Recent therapeutic advances for mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) include inhibitors of Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK), a critical component in the B-cell receptor signaling pathway [1, 2]. Remarkably, approximately two thirds of patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) MCL treated with ibrutinib, the first-in-class BTK inhibitor, achieve a durable response [3–5]. However, ibrutinib treatment also commonly produces off-target adverse events (AEs) such as bleeding, atrial fibrillation, diarrhea, and infection. Second-generation BTK inhibitors with greater selectivity include tirabrutinib (GS/ONO-4059), acalabrutinib, and BGB-3111 [6]. In 2017, acalabrutinib received FDA approval for the treatment of MCL based on a complete response (CR) rate …

William King, Sir William Petty, And Post-War Ireland (1690–92): Sir Robert Southwell And The Printing Of Political Discourse, P Hinds

School of Law, Humanities and Social Sciences

This article analyses the production of printed political discourse between post-war Ireland and England, in particular Sir Robert Southwell’s leading role in bringing to publication William King’s The State of the Protestants and Sir William Petty’s The Political Anatomy of Ireland in 1691. The questions these two books raised for the settlement of Ireland and for the relationship between the two kingdoms of Ireland and England have become very important for Anglo-Irish political history yet their publication circumstances in 1691 have not been considered. The article argues that studying these circumstances, applying the methods of book history, and analysing carefully …

Demographic Variables And Academic Discipline As Determinants Of Undergraduates’ Use Of Electronic Library Resources In Federal Universities In South-West, Nigeria, Adefunke Sarah Ebijuwa, Iyabo Mabawonku Professor

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

Undergraduates use electronic library resources for academic activities because it offers access to relevant and current information from different subject areas. Literature review indicated that undergraduates’ use of electronic library resources is low in Nigeria owing to a number of factors that are largely attributed to user’s attitude, computer literacy and information retrieval skills, but, little attention was given to factors such as demographic variables and academic discipline. This study, therefore, examined demographic variables (age, gender) and academic discipline as determinants of undergraduates’ use of electronic library resources in in federal universities in South-west, Nigeria.
