Compared to their peers, gifted and talented (GT) students have unique social and emotional needs. As schools mandated social and emotional learning goals for each GT student, support at the state level was limited. The purpose of the study was to answer the guiding question of how students could benefit from implementing key elements in a GT social and emotional curriculum. The study was guided by Corso's approach to promoting and developing positive social-emotional behavior. Data were collected from questionnaires administered to 32 statewide GT experts. Evidence derived from the 2012 and 2015 College Senior Surveys (CSS) noted showed that college seniors, at a historically Black university, graduated with little to average soft skills. Soft skills, such as personal characteristics and relations with others, are needed for students to succeed in postgraduate careers. The purpose of this study was to assess the level to which performing arts instruction (PAI) courses developed college-level students' soft skills. Since 2007, many U.S. music education programs have been negatively affected by budget reductions at the local, state, and national levels. Although researchers have studied the effect of budget reductions on music education, they have not widely examined the perspectives of teachers who have experienced these reductions. The purpose of this study was to explore elementary music teachers' personal and professional experiences with budget reductions, and the perceptions of how their programs, students, schools, and communities have been affected by the budget reductions. Conducting a departmental program review can be a stressful and arduous process. At the same time, the final report can provide valuable insights. The challenges and benefits of program reviews have been well noted by scholars. We seek to add to this conversation by arguing that program reviews can prove beneficial by fostering and maintaining organizational integrity. In our essay, we review relevant literature on program reviews, provide an explanation of organizational integrity, present a narrative of our program review process, and explain how this process fostered organizational integrity.

Professional learning communities (PLCs) were established in a local suburban school district in 2010; however, since their inception, the value of the program has not been determined. In a K-8 school district, a qualitative case study was conducted to determine the influence of PLCs on the 4 domains of teacher responsibilities: preparation, classroom environment, teaching, and professional duties. The conceptual framework was based on Bandura's social learning theory and Danielson's framework for teaching. The lack of discrete motivation strategies to improve the consistency of employees' performances was the problem that instigated this research. The purpose of this single-case study was to explore the motivation strategies live-entertainment artistic directors (ADs) use to improve consistency in the artists' performances. Data were collected within an international live-entertainment company to uncover whether artists self-determined the approach to improving consistency in performance or whether consistency occurred from strategies developed by the ADs. The Australian dance theatre collective, Remnant Dance, was established with a vision to ‘create, make, connect’ through artistic practice and performances. Remnant Dancers have generated unexpected social networking and community development whilst exploring connectivity through dance in the collective environment. In particular, during 2015/2016, Remnant Dance ventured into ambitious creative territory by inviting 22 artists from the fields of music, contemporary dance, and visual/multi-media arts to collaborate in response to fragments of literary texts, matched with wines. Both as an art and assessment, music demonstration and performance in test-taking are closely related. Particular traits are shared between performance in test-taking in the classroom and musical performance "on stage." Tests and performances are normally considered a "high-stakes" setting when the quality and perception of one's skill are under critical scrutiny. Since undergraduate and graduate music students experience assessments in both performance and academic areas, this study allowed consideration for the connections where these two areas overlap, and the possible interventions students may have initiated that are effective in stemming or reducing anxiety. LIT investigates the power of our daily visual interactions with commercial signage. The exhibition is comprised of ten individual illuminated constructions that appropriate the aesthetic strategies and design elements from commercial signage. The work offers the viewer a new aesthetic experience by nullifying the communicative and directional agendas that would normally accompany commercial signage. The viewer is free to see and experience the captivating nature of formal elements such as shape, color and light. The work explores the intersection of appropriation, minimal aesthetics and everyday experiences.

Respecting Public Investment: The Problems With Democratic Endorsement As A Criterion For Legitimate Value Influence In Science, Rebecca Korf

Criticism of the value-free ideal has motivated attempts to formulate a criterion for the legitimacy of non-epistemic value influence in science. I argue that this search aims to protect two main components of legitimacy, scientific integrity and justice. While integrity is primary, justice remains important, especially in setting scientific goals. One of the main proposals for setting legitimate goals is to rely on democratic endorsement (Intemann 2015). I critically assess four interpretations of this criterion, finding that all are problematic. I then propose and evaluate three alternative models that seek to better balance respect for the public with scientific expertise.

Much of the existing research on gaming suggests that women are often excluded from or discriminated against in gaming communities. However, few scholars focus on women’s positive experiences within those communities, and even fewer examine tabletop and live-action roleplaying games. In this thesis, I utilized Jurgen Habermas’ theory of communicative action, Judith Butler’s theory of gender performativity, and James C. We found no instrument developed for this purpose. Objectives: to construct, develop and validate a non-technical skills assessment scale in nursing. Method: methodological research. Those involved in peace negotiations often face the dilemma of balancing demands for justice with the imperative of stopping the conflict as quickly as possible. There are abiding ethical and moral debates surrounding this tension between peace and justice. In Syria—where the death toll has exceeded 470,000, 11 million have been displaced, and there are over 14,000 documented cases of death by torture—the peace versus justice puzzle is a living dilemma with which those involved in the peace process grapple with on a daily basis.

โรงละครถูกสร้างขึ้นเพื่อรองรับการแสดงสด มีอัตลักษณ์ตั้งแต่การออกแบบไปจนถึงการดำเนินงาน ผสมผสานไปด้วยความละเอียดอ่อนของศิลปะและความแข็งแกร่งทางวิศวกรรม เพื่อที่จะรักษาโรงละครให้ยั่งยืน โรงละครจำเป็นจะต้องมีการบริหารทรัพยากรกายภาพที่ดี การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาถึงลักษณะของการบริหารทรัพยากรกายภาพของโรงละครและปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการบริหารทรัพยากรกายภาพของโรงละคร โดยการสำรวจโรงละครที่ดำเนินงานโดยผลิตทั้งผลงานของโรงละครเองและผลงานของผู้เช่า 6 โรงละคร ได้แก่ โรงละครเคแบงก์สยามพิฆเนศ เมืองไทยรัชดาลัยเธียเตอร์ หอนาฏลักษณ์ มหาวิทยาลัยศรีนครินทรวิโรฒ แบล็คบ็อกซ์เธียเตอร์ มหาวิทยาลัยกรุงเทพ ทองหล่ออาร์ตสเปซ และเดโมเครซี่เธียเตอร์สตูดิโอ เพื่อทำการวิเคราะห์ สรุป และอภิปรายผล จากการศึกษาพบว่า โรงละครบริหารทรัพยากรกายภาพตามช่วงการใช้งานซึ่งสัมพันธ์กับกิจกรรมการ ซึ่งในแต่ละช่วงการใช้งานโรงละครจะต้องรองรับการใช้งานที่แตกต่างกันทั้งผู้ใช้งาน พื้นที่ที่มีการใช้งาน และกิจกรรมการใช้งาน จากการวิเคราะห์พบว่า การบริหารทรัพยากรกายภาพของโรงละคร เป็นการบริหารความรับผิดชอบต่อทรัพยากรกายภาพที่โรงละครมี โดยคำนึงถึง สถานที่ ผู้ใช้งาน และการใช้งานโรงละคร มีลักษณะเฉพาะที่แตกต่างจากการบริหารทรัพยากรกายภาพของอาคารทั่วไป เนื่องจากมีส่วนงานและการดำเนินงานที่เกี่ยวข้องกับกิจกรรมการแสดงโดยเฉพาะ ซึ่งส่งผลโดยตรงต่อการดำเนินงานหลักของโรง และปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการบริหารทรัพยากรกายภาพของโรงละครที่ต้องคำนึงถึงเป็นอันดับแรกคือที่ตั้ง ผลการศึกษาชี้ให้เห็นถึงลักษณะการบริหารทรัพยากรกายภาพของโรงละครรวมถึงคุณประโยชน์ของการบริหารทรัพยากรกายภาพที่มีต่อโรงละคร และปัจจัยที่ต้องคำนึงในการบริหารทรัพยากรกายภาพของโรงละคร ซึ่งนักศึกษาวิชาการละคร หรือผู้ที่มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับโรงละคร สามารถนำความรู้ที่ได้จากการศึกษา ไปประยุกต์ใช้กับโรงละครที่ดำเนินอยู่หรือที่กำลังจะเกิดขึ้นได้ตั้งแต่การออกแบบไปจนถึงการดำเนินการ
