ABSTRACT: BACK GROUND: The neonatal mortality rate is a key outcome indicator for newborn care and directly reflects prenatal, natal, and postnatal care. Early neonatal deaths are more closely associated with pregnancy related factors and maternal health, whereas late neonatal deaths are associated more with factors in the newborn`s environment. OBJECTIVE: To find out the neonatal mortality rate and to identify the factors related with neonatal mortality among neonates admitted in the Aseptic Neonatal Care Unit of Fatema AL Zahraa Hospital. METHODS: A cross - sectional hospital-based study was done depending on data collected from records of the Aseptic Neonatal …

Checkpoint Inhibitors: What Gastroenterologists Need To Know., Monjur Ahmed
Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Faculty Papers
Checkpoint inhibitors are increasingly being used in clinical practice. They can cause various gastrointestinal, hepatic and pancreatic side effects. As these side effects can be serious, appropriate management is essential. The different checkpoint inhibitors with their mechanisms of action and indications, as well as evaluation and management of gastrointestinal, hepatic and pancreatic side effects, are discussed in this article.

ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: Glugose-6- phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency is the most common human enzyme deficiency in the world andlead to hemolytic anemia as early sign. OBJECTIVE : To determine the age of the patient with G6PD deficiency in which can the enzyme return to normal activity indifferent areas of Baghdad and to study if there is sex predilection for spontaneous regeneration of the enzyme. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Case control study carried on patients at AL-kadhyimia teaching hospital and patientscollected from different areas of Baghdad city during period from 1st of April 2012 to 31st of December 2012, 159 patients of G6PD disease, …

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of bibliotherapy to improve three factors of resilience, namely: aspects of I Have; I Am; and I Can, for orphaned students who live in orphanages. The research subjects were 21 orphaned students selected using purposive sampling technique. The quantitative research used the latin square method and statistical analysis paired t-test to analyze the data. The analysis technique of the instrument validity use Spearman. Meanwhile, the analysis technique of instrument reliability used Alpha Cronbach. The results showed that bibliotherapy can significantly improve the three factors of resilience.

A New Insight Into Underlying Disease Mechanism Through Semi-Parametric Latent Differential Network Model, Yong He, Jiadong Ji, Lei Xie, Xinsheng Zhang, Fuzhong Xue
Publications and Research
Background
In genomic studies, to investigate how the structure of a genetic network differs between two experiment conditions is a very interesting but challenging problem, especially in high-dimensional setting. Existing literatures mostly focus on differential network modelling for continuous data. However, in real application, we may encounter discrete data or mixed data, which urges us to propose a unified differential network modelling for various data types.
Results
We propose a unified latent Gaussian copula differential network model which provides deeper understanding of the unknown mechanism than that among the observed variables. Adaptive rank-based estimation approaches are proposed with the assumption …

Mri Finding Of Cartilaginous Endplates Herniation Of Lumbar Spine In Patient With Low Back Pain, Mansour Eidan Dawood Al, Firas Mahmood Yaqub, Zubaidi, Mohammed Abd Kadhim
Iraqi Postgraduate Medical Journal
ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provides a noninvasive assessment of the lumbar spine. Little is thought about the MRI characteristics of cartilaginous endplate (CEP) and CEP herniation on the ground that their normal thickness is only 0.6mm, making it hard to perceive at routine MRI examinations OBJECTIVE : To study the reliable magnetic resonance imaging findings suggested cartilage endplate herniation in lumbar spine. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This prospective study was conducted on 46 patients with low back pain in the MRI unit of Al- Imamein Alkadhmein Medical City, Baghdad, Iraq between September, 2016 and August 2017. Inclusion criteria: adult …

Affordances On Facebook, Stress, And Emotional Support, Caitlin Rose Rethwish
Dissertations and Theses
This study discusses Facebook as a social network site and a social media application. It compares perceived emotional support, general life stress, and media affordance-based stress from two participant samples - one that reported using the Facebook desktop site most frequently to reach out for emotional support, and one that reported using the mobile application.
The media affordance measure asked participants if perceiving a media affordance was more likely to increase or decrease their stress. In both samples, persistence was more likely to decrease stress, and personalization was more likely to increase stress. On the Facebook Desktop site, searchability was …

Requiring Human Papilloma Virus Vaccination For School Entry, Michelle J. Bayefsky, Lawrence O. Gostin
Georgetown Law Faculty Publications and Other Works
Over 40,000 Americans are diagnosed as having HPV-associated cancer each year, including oropharyngeal cancer for men and cervical cancer for women. These diseases cause significant morbidity and mortality and are largely preventable if people are vaccinated against HPV before they are exposed to the virus. Unfortunately, despite strong evidence of safety and effectiveness of the HPV vaccine, vaccination rates have been disappointingly low – much lower than for the varicella, measles, mumps, rubella, and hepatitis B. The disparity in vaccination rates stem mainly from the fact that HPV vaccination is not universally required for school entry, while the other childhood …
