Creative Corporate Communication In Social Media – How To Effectively Build Relations And Receive High Quality Resumes From Younger Generations, Barbara Drapała

Studia i Materiały Wydział Zarządzania Uniwersytet Warszawski

Nowadays, companies increasingly often face the dilemma of how to reach and recruit younger people. The goal of this paper is to present different values, important for every generation still active on the labour market, and to present the content attributes influencing the response to recruitment posts and the number of obtained resumes. The paper uses quality analyses in the form of a case study in order to analyse social media recruitment campaigns of the chosen marketing agency. The discussion is divided into three parts. The first part covers the analysis of the form, type of content and message, used …

The Optimum Cognitive Load Of The Employee, Grażyna Wieczorkowska, Magdalena Sieradzka Dec 2018

The Optimum Cognitive Load Of The Employee, Grażyna Wieczorkowska, Magdalena Sieradzka

Studia i Materiały Wydział Zarządzania Uniwersytet Warszawski

The goal of the current article is an attempt to synthesize the knowledge on the consequences of cognitive overload/underload of the employees on their work outcomes. The course of the argument has been organized in the form of 4 theses. (1) Employee performance depends curvilinearly on the level of arousal (Yerkes i Dodson, 1908). This relationship is affected by the size of the available cognitive resources. The effect of emotions on the level of arousal depends on their type. (2) The magnitude of tonic arousal is primarily defined by the temperamental traits. The relationship between the arousal level and the …

Men’S Cosmetics: Challenging Conventional Marketing Wisdom, Dae Ryun Chang

Asian Management Insights

The marketing of men’s cosmetics is challenging conventional wisdom in Asia.

Men and beauty seem to be two contradictory domains because we often rely on an outdated assumption that men only want to appear manly and nothing more. The reality for modern men, however, is significantly different from that perception.

Floxed-Cassette Allelic Exchange Mutagenesis Enables Markerless Gene Deletion In Chlamydia Trachomatis And Can Reverse Cassette-Induced Polar Effects, Gabrielle Keb, Robert Hayman, Kenneth A. Fields Dec 2018

Floxed-Cassette Allelic Exchange Mutagenesis Enables Markerless Gene Deletion In Chlamydia Trachomatis And Can Reverse Cassette-Induced Polar Effects, Gabrielle Keb, Robert Hayman, Kenneth A. Fields

Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics Faculty Publications

As obligate intracellular bacteria, Chlamydia spp. have evolved numerous, likely intricate, mechanisms to create and maintain a privileged intracellular niche. Recent progress in elucidating and characterizing these processes has been bolstered by the development of techniques enabling basic genetic tractability. Florescence-reported allelic exchange mutagenesis (FRAEM) couples chromosomal gene deletion with the insertion of a selection cassette encoding antibiotic resistance and green fluorescent protein (GFP). Similar to other bacteria, many chlamydial genes exist within polycistronic operons, raising the possibility of polar effects mediated by insertion cassettes. Indeed, FRAEM-mediated deletion of Chlamydia trachomatis tmeA negatively impacts the expression of tmeB. We …

Gender Mainstreaming In Mine Action | Powerful Linkages For Progress Across The Sdgs, Gichd, Laura Biscaglia, Vanessa Gomes Sampaio, Ursign Hoffman, Marion Provencher Langlois

Global CWD Repository

Mine action comprises a set of activities aimed at reducing the risks from landmines, cluster munitions and other explosive remnants of war. By returning safe land, housing and infrastructure to people and assisting victims, it restores livelihoods, re-establishes an environment for communities to live, work and thrive in, and accelerates development. Mine action never occurs in a vacuum; it takes place in social and cultural contexts where different gendered power relations exist and therefore does not automatically benefit women, girls, boys and men from different backgrounds to the same degree. This article explores the intersection between mine action and inequality …

The Canoe, The Wind, And The Mountain: Shunting The Rashomon Effect Of Mauna Kea, Vilsoni Hereniko, Philipp Schorch Dec 2018

The Canoe, The Wind, And The Mountain: Shunting The Rashomon Effect Of Mauna Kea, Vilsoni Hereniko, Philipp Schorch

Pacific Studies

Akira Kurosawa, one of Japan's famous directors, made a movie in 1950 about a murder and a rape in a forest that was witnessed by four people, all of whom have contradictory interpretations of what happened. Titled Rashomon, this film became one of the best-known movies by cinephiles around the world (1). Soon, different and conflicting accounts of a particular incident or event became generally known as the Rashomon effect (2). In this paper, we deploy this term to refer to the present controversy surrounding Mauna Kea, a mountain in Hawai‘i, and conflicting interpretations about what it is or should …

Voices Of Liberation: Indigenous Political Writings In Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, And Vanuatu During The Decolonization Era, David Chappell Dec 2018

Voices Of Liberation: Indigenous Political Writings In Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, And Vanuatu During The Decolonization Era, David Chappell

Pacific Studies

Historians of post-1945 decolonization in Oceania often say that British “administrations were pushing for independence more than the islanders” (Thompson 1994, 153), and a literature scholar criticized indigenous political writings for their “absence of a truly revolutionary heritage [or] utopian schemes” (Subramani 1992: 18–20). Yet, considering the arbitrary colonial bordering in linguistically diverse Melanesia, “national” political consciousness was still under construction. Islanders had governed themselves in local village councils for millennia and had very limited access to colonial education, so grassroots movements for self-empowerment rarely embraced the entire colonial territory. The foreign-derived names of Melanesian countries typified their nation-building challenges: …

The Sky’S The Limit: Factors That Affect Females’ Decisions To Become Professional Pilots, Debra Henneberry Dec 2018

The Sky’S The Limit: Factors That Affect Females’ Decisions To Become Professional Pilots, Debra Henneberry

Education Doctoral

Despite evidence of males and females having generally comparable abilities as pilots, very few women choose this career path. According to the Federal Aviation Administration database of aviators, approximately 7% of the total pilot population in the United States is female, and 5% of professional pilot ratings are held by women. These statistics have been consistent for several decades. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to gain a better understanding of why females decide to become professional pilots. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 women who, at the time of this study, were employed or had been previously …

Creative Strategies For Effective And Engaging Student Employee Training: Helping Student Employees Engage, Grow, And "Be Known", Sarah Stevenson, Patty Vanier

The Christian Librarian

Is your library known as “the” place for students to work on your campus? Do your student employees get excited about “famous” annual training events in your department? Do your former student employees return years later to say hello because the library felt like their second home during college? Student employees are full of potential to become actively engaged participants in library operations and delivery of quality service. However, many librarians and library staff members struggle to motivate their student employees and help them see their employment as a highly valuable, formative work experience. The authors share some creative (and …

Deserts, such as those found in Saudi Arabia, are one of the most hostile places for plant growth. However, desert plants are able to impact their surrounding microbial community and select beneficial microbes that promote their growth under these extreme conditions. In this study, we examined the soil, rhizosphere and endosphere bacterial communities of four native desert plants Tribulus terrestris, Zygophyllum simplex, …

The Goldilocks Approach: A Review Of Employing Design Of Experiments In Prokaryotic Recombinant Protein Production, Barry Ryan, Albert Uhoraningoga, Gemma K. Kinsella, Gary T. .. Henehan

Articles

The production of high yields of soluble recombinant protein is one of the main objectives of protein biotechnology. Several factors, such as expression system, vector, host, media composition and induction conditions can influence recombinant protein yield. Identifying the most important factors for optimum protein expression may involve significant investment of time and considerable cost. To address this problem statistical models, such as Design of Experiments (DoE), have been used to optimise recombinant protein production. This review explores the application of DoE in the production of recombinant proteins, focusing on prokaryotic expression systems with a specific emphasis on media composition and …

Differences Of Freshman Experience Between Local Students And Non-Local Students, Wenyan Glotzbach Dec 2018

Differences Of Freshman Experience Between Local Students And Non-Local Students, Wenyan Glotzbach

Undergraduate Honors Theses

What are the differences of freshman experience between local students and non-local students? In this study, Local Students (LS) are defined as students who lived within two hours’ drive from East Tennessee State University's Main Campus. Non-Local Students (NLS) are defined as students who lived further than two hours’ drive from ETSU Main Campus. My hypothesis is that LS have a better freshman experience than NLS. The data set from Dr. Richards and Dr. Hoff is used for the analysis to test if my hypothesis is going to be accepted or rejected. There are different aspects of the freshman experiences …

This qualitative study analyzed data from 243 participants. The data was broken down …

Conformable Derivative Operator In Modelling Neuronal Dynamics, Mehmet Yavuz, Burcu Yaşkıran Dec 2018

Conformable Derivative Operator In Modelling Neuronal Dynamics, Mehmet Yavuz, Burcu Yaşkıran

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

This study presents two new numerical techniques for solving time-fractional one-dimensional cable differential equation (FCE) modeling neuronal dynamics. We have introduced new formulations for the approximate-analytical solution of the FCE by using modified homotopy perturbation method defined with conformable operator (MHPMC) and reduced differential transform method defined with conformable operator (RDTMC), which are derived the solutions for linear-nonlinear fractional PDEs. In order to show the efficiencies of these methods, we have compared the numerical and exact solutions of fractional neuronal dynamics problem. Moreover, we have declared that the proposed models are very accurate and illustrative techniques in determining to approximate-analytical …
