P-05 How Will They Hear If We Do Not Listen?: Theological Method And Engaging The Secular, Jenifer Daley
P-05 How Will They Hear If We Do Not Listen?: Theological Method And Engaging The Secular, Jenifer Daley
Celebration of Research and Creative Scholarship
The poster examines several themes related to theological methodology for contemporary secular society: how to do Christian theology in contemporary western society which is influenced by the effects of modernity, especially in this period considered to be post-modernity. The poster will highlight that it is important for theological methodology to be sensitive and responsive to society’s self-perception, while remaining true to the fundamental principle that the Bible is Christian theology’s first, final and sufficient rule of faith and practice.

Cultural Variations And Socio-Ecocultural Understanding On Cross-Cultural Adaptation, Awang Rozaimie
Cultural Variations And Socio-Ecocultural Understanding On Cross-Cultural Adaptation, Awang Rozaimie
The Qualitative Report
Cross-cultural adaptation is a challenging process while sojourning abroad. The inability to understand cultural variation triggers psychological, physical or behavioral difficulties and maladjustment or misunderstanding. Socio-ecocultural underestimation is the root of intercultural resistance, stereotyping, ethnocentrism and racist sentiments among sojourners. Most of the cross-cultural adjustment studies have quantitatively demonstrated factors and predictors of adaptation success. However, the specific forms of cultural variation that impacted sojourning adaptability is blindly explained. Hence, this phenomenological paper autoethnographically observed the socio-ecocultural environment while sojourning in New Zealand. The findings highlighted that cultural awareness and sensitivity assist sojourner’s cross-cultural adaptability due to the socio-ecocultural variation.

Europe: Religious Identity In A Fragmented Age, Olivier Roy
Europe: Religious Identity In A Fragmented Age, Olivier Roy
Claritas: Journal of Dialogue and Culture
The author offers a reflection on the question of Christian identity in a changing Europe. He points out that it was only as the number of practicing Christians in public life diminished that the question of the Christian identity of the continent arose. He questions the kinds of uncritical identification of European and Christian culture that arises in the fact of increased Islamic immigration. He surveys the principal options facing Christians and Christian culture as Europe faces an uncertain future.

Purposeful Planning And Intentional Practice In Literacy Leadership: The Making Of An Urban Principal, Nakia Claudette Jackson Perkins
Purposeful Planning And Intentional Practice In Literacy Leadership: The Making Of An Urban Principal, Nakia Claudette Jackson Perkins
LSU Doctoral Dissertations
ABSTRACT
Audubon Elementary is an urban elementary school that is the setting for this proposed study. It is a high-achieving, high-performing school where achievement goals are always centered on literacy learning, especially within the context of accountability wherein faculty and school leadership acknowledge the importance that the school district has placed on standardized testing. Pre-K through fifth grades are housed at the school. In 2018, there are approximately 554 students who are guided by 65 faculty and staff members.
Participants were purposely selected based on both convenience and criteria sampling (Collins, Onwuegbuzie, & Jiao, 2007). Initially, six participants, or classroom …

Natural Resources-Based Conflicts In Coastal Louisiana: A Multi-Faceted Social And Ecological Setting, Audrey Grismore
Natural Resources-Based Conflicts In Coastal Louisiana: A Multi-Faceted Social And Ecological Setting, Audrey Grismore
LSU Doctoral Dissertations
The Louisiana coastal zone supports numerous natural resource-based economies and due to overlapping demands on the same territory, conflicts among users and resource managers have emerged. When the state recognized serious depletion of oysters in the late nineteenth century, it intervened with a set of conservation polices to try to establish sustained yields that produced one set of conflicts. When the oil industry began operating in the coastal estuaries and wetlands in the 1930s, it produced additional conflicts with fishing folk. The zone of conflict gave rise to cyclic adaptations as each group struggled to sustain its environmentally based economic …

Theatre And The Overwhelming Question: Why Make Theatre In These Times?, Mónica Valeria Sánchez
Theatre And The Overwhelming Question: Why Make Theatre In These Times?, Mónica Valeria Sánchez
Theatre & Dance ETDs
The following essay communicates my journey as a longtime theatre artist as I have navigated my way through the discipline, and towards the craft of playwriting. My intention to study in the program was soon escalated by an existential turning point subsequent to the neoliberal agenda that gained momentum pre, post, and during the election of 2016. This thesis is in response to the question, "Why make theatre now?" I approach this query through the themes and the characters in my plays; through a socio-cultural-historic lens, and via an examination of the creative process as it relates to the metaphysics …

Sez Who? Critical Legal History Without A Privileged Position, John Henry Schlegel
Sez Who? Critical Legal History Without A Privileged Position, John Henry Schlegel
Contributions to Books
Published as Chapter 30 in Oxford Handbook of Historical Legal Research, Markus D. Dubber & Christopher Tomlins, eds.
Scholars active in the Critical Legal Studies movement of the 1980s regularly attacked the scholarship of liberal legalist scholars by using a variety of then contemporary epistemological theories that argued for the impossibility of any observer attaining a neutral position from which to observe social activities. Somewhat surprisingly, liberal legalist scholars seldom turned this criticism back at the work of CLS scholars who themselves never criticized their own work as they did that of other scholars. The examination of several pieces of …
