This study investigates the influence of treatment frequency (1–150 kHz) on the atmospheric plasma activation of both silicone and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) particles. These polymer particles with diameters in the range 3–5 mm, were treated using either helium or helium/oxygen gas mixtures, in a barrel atmospheric plasma system. The level of polymer particles activation was monitored using water contact angle measurements. The effect of plasma treatment frequency on barrel heating was monitored using an infrared thermographic camera, the maximum barrel temperature after 15 min treatment was found to be 98 °C at a frequency of 130 kHz. The Sivas Cenozoic Basin and coeval Central Anatolian basins such as Çankırı and Tuz Gölü are characterized by both marine and terrestrial sediments ranging in age from the Eocene to early Miocene. The evaporite regime here generally appeared during the late stage of Eocene transgression and persisted through the Oligocene time. However, marine-induced Oligocene evaporites are less known because of less paleontological evidence and regional tectonics and salt diapirism that mostly caused the destruction of their original stratigraphic positions. In southeastern Turkey, northern Syria, and Iraq, the Southeast Anatolian Wedge (SEAW) is recognized as lying between the high altitude Bitlis-Zagros Suture Zone and the Sincar Mountains on the Mesopotamian plain. This wedge narrows towards the south and contains several thrust and blind thrust zones merging with the basal thrust zone. These zones are determined mainly by locations of fault-propagation folding that generally limit the Plio-Quaternary/Quaternary plains in the region. The positions of these active thrust/blind thrust zones and their relationships to the right and left lateral faults may be used to explain the seismic activity of the region.

In the Gandom Beryan area, basanitic lava flows erupted from fractures in the Nayband fault zone and formed an area of about 300 km2 of basanitic rocks in the western part of the Lut Block. Olivine and clinopyroxene are the major phenocrysts in a microlitic groundmass for these basanitic rocks. The geochemical data show that Gandom Beryan rocks are basanite in composition and belong to intercontinental rifts related to alkali basanites. These rocks have low Fe/Mg ratios (Fe2O3t/MgO = 1.07-1.43) with low silica content (SiO2 = 44.89-48.26 wt.%) and are high-Ti basanites. The investigated rocks are characterized by a significant …

The receiver function analysis method was used to determine the crustal structure in Central Anatolia, Turkey, by using teleseismic earthquake records. Several outcrops of spectacular feather-like hornblende aggregates occur in the phyllites of the Gol-e-Gohar complex (southeast of Iran) and form special Garbenschiefer rock types. The Gol-e-Gohar complex, as a part of the southern Sanandaj-Sirjan metamorphic zone, contains a succession of metabasites, phyllites, and slates intruded by dioritic intrusions. There are two types of hornblendes in the phyllites; the first one is concentrated around the fractures and the second one is randomly distributed in the rocks and forms radial feather-like hornblende aggregates. A series of unsymmetrical imidazolinium bromides (3a-d) bearing naphthyl and benzyl groups (R' = CH$_{2}$C$_{6}$H$_{2}$(CH$_{3})_{3}$-2,4,6 (a); CH$_{2}$C$_{6}$H(CH$_{3})_{4}$-2,3,5,6 (b); CH$_{2}$C$_{6}$(CH$_{3})_{5}$ (c); CH$_{2}$C$_{6}$F$_{5\, }$(d)) at the N$^{1}$ and N$^{3}$ positions were successfully synthesized. [RuCl$_{2}$(NHC)($p$-cymene)] (NHC= N-heterocyclic carbene) complexes (4a-d) were prepared by the reaction of [RuCl$_{2}(p$-cymene)]$_{2}$ with imidazolinium salts (3a-d). The new salts (3a-d) and their ruthenium(II) complexes (4a-d) were characterized by $^{1}$H, $^{13}$C, $^{19}$F NMR, and elemental analysis.
