Information Literacy In Ghanaian Academic Institutions: Case Of Kwame Nkrumah University Of Science And Technology (K.N.U.S.T), Ghana, Lilian Atta-Obeng Miss, Ernest Boakye Mr., Fynn Paapa Kwamena Mr.

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

A case of a credit bearing information literacy skills class, offered to first year undergraduate students though not across all colleges at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana was analysed. The survey research methodology was used and questionnaire was distributed to 136 students. The findings indicated that the course was relevant and should be maintained though students’ knowledge on ethical use of information, citation skills, and information searching skills were poor. The study recommends a collaborative partnership between librarians and faculty for the teaching and learning of information literacy skills.

To investigate the genetic basis of type 2 diabetes (T2D) to high resolution, the GoT2D and T2D-GENES consortia catalogued variation from whole-genome sequencing of 2,657 European individuals and exome sequencing of 12,940 individuals of multiple ancestries. Over 27M SNPs, indels, and structural variants were identified, including 99% of low-frequency (minor allele frequency [MAF] 0.1–5%) non-coding variants in the whole-genome sequenced individuals and 99.7% of low-frequency coding variants in the whole-exome sequenced individuals. In eukaryotes, DNA repair mechanisms detect and repair damaged DNA. DNA damage is primarily caused by a variety of exogenous and endogenous sources. Several types of damage to DNA are repaired by different kinds of DNA repair pathways. This dissertation focused on repair of N-methylpurines (NMPs) and double-strand breaks (DSBs) in human fibroblasts.

NMPs, including N⁷-methylguanine (7MeG) and N³-methyladenine (3MeA), can be induced by environmental methylating agents (e.g. the soil fumigant methyl bromide), chemotherapeutics (e.g. nitrogen mustards), and natural cellular methyl donors like S-adenosylmethionine. Sistema Muévelo Rico is a 1.2 km long cave in Quintana Roo, less than 2 km from the Caribbean Sea. We measured illuminance to a level of 0.1 lux, organic matter (weight loss on ignition), temperature, and relative humidity. The last two were measured at hourly intervals for nearly one year. Approximately one-third of the cave has illuminance values greater than 0.01 lux, and most of the rest of the cave has light as well. Speciation of copper in marine systems strongly influences the ability of copper to cause toxicity. Natural organic matter (NOM) contains many binding sites which provides a protective effect on copper toxicity. The purpose of this study was to characterize copper binding with NOM using fluorescence quenching techniques. Fluorescence quenching of NOM with copper was performed on nine sea water samples. The article presents information on water supply of vineyards in mountain regions, methods of water conservation, including irrigation (rain water), soil fertility, surveys and collection of local wastewater in critical water shortages in vineyards. each of them is briefly described and conclusions are drawn. It also examines the work done using the aforementioned local methods for collecting wastewater, as well as recommendations on the irrigation of vineyards in the foothills.

On this article, results of field experiment and laboratory experiment of sowing and growing technology of cotton kind "Andijon 35" together with bean’s kind "Oltin" and mung bean's kind "Pobeda' were highlighted. The results of experiments, from cotton 42.c/ha, also 15 c/ha of leguminous crop and 60 c/ha of fodder were harvested.

The article brings up data on sediment diversity at watercourse bed and on their movement in the form of ridges. The ridge form movement of sediment leads to the reduction of reservoir volume and canal cross section area, which has an effect on their carrying capacity, filling of pump station forechambers and hydroelectric station pressure basins with sediment. The presence of sediment in flow leads to abrasive deterioration of pumps, water motors and pressure pipes and to other negative consequences. The relationship between the amount of oil obtained and the degree of damage to cotton seed pulp is shown. It is important that working fluid sprays by nozzle tip monodisperly, that is by smaller drops of th same sizes, for the rising of plants chemical treatment. Employing spraying nozzle tips distribute fluid polydispersely, that is when drops sizes are different, as a result the quality of treatment reduces. In the article authors recommend patent of IDP 04644 to monodispersity of sprayer at the expense of working fluid’s delivery 30-350 to the nozzle tip with abundant content of air bubbles.
