Organizational Capabilities, Strategic Management Accounting And Firm Performance, Tan Ah Lay, Ruzita Jusoh

From a resource-based view perspective, the paper provides empirical evidence on new emerging strategic management accounting (SMA), its association with organizational capabilities (market orientation, entrepreneurship, innovativeness and organizational learning) and the interlinkages among these four elements of organizational capabilities. Partial least squares (PLS) technique was used to test the contingency model. Using the mail survey data of 103 manufacturing strategic business units (SBUs) of public listed companies in Malaysia, the results found that the four organizational capabilities - market orientation, entrepreneurship, innovativeness and organizational learning - collectively give rise to positional advantage leading to enhanced firm performance. Experiments were performed on scaled glue laminated bending specimens to observe time dependent development of deformations during drying and wetting. Measurements determined changes in the average moisture content and external shape and dimensions between when specimens were placed into constant or variable climates. Alterations in the external shape and dimensions reflected changes in the average value and distribution of moisture and mechanosorptive creep in the glulam. The results are being used to develop a sequentially-coupled three-dimensional hygrothermal Finite Element (FE) model for predicting temporally varying internal strains and external deformations of drying or wetting solid wood structural components. This article examines the variety of meaning towards violence against women in Aliansi Laki-laki Baru’s social movement practice as a social movement that focuses on issues regarding male engagement in ending violence against women and achieving gender equality. Using ethnographic methods, I argue that social movement, particularly Aliansi Laki-laki Baru, could not be understood as monolithic and homogeneous entity because its participants could have various meanings on violence against women. While violence against women could be contextualized as Aliansi Laki-laki Baru’s main focus, participants in ALB could construct their own meaning on ‘violence against women’ as a sociocultural phenomenon. Molecular techniques for guiding plant breeding have successfully used wild progenitors of domestic crops as sources of genetic variants conveying desirable traits. However, epigenetic variation, in particular DNA methylation, is a significant source of phenotypic variation and epigenetic effects of plant domestication are poorly understood. Described herein are the first single-base pair resolution methylomes of the highly valued crop iceberg lettuce (Lactuca sativa cv. Salinas) and its close relative, and ubiquitous weed, L. serriola. Inspired by Pope Francis’s call for a new journey that instills the importance of conservation and care for the environment, we propose a practical model that mathematically incorporates sustainability issues into capital planning, selection, and investment. Evidence suggests that managers apply net present value (NPV) methodologies in a way that disadvantages environmentally sustainable investments. If an NPV model does not consider the costs and risks of non-sustainable projects, then the potential benefits of alternative sustainable investments will appear much less valuable than present costs. One of the defining features of the Uniform Commercial Code Article 9 is the secured creditor’s ability to take possession of the collateral upon the debtor’s default “without breach of peace.” This standard is meant to protect the debtor from abusive secured creditors, the meaning of which has been shaped by courts on a case-by-case basis.

This article studies the contrast between civil and common law systems regarding the significance of the notarial act. According to conventional scholarship, in the former, civil procedure requires written evidence and the notarial act is the strongest kind of evidence. In the latter, however, civil procedure requires oral evidence and the notarial act has no specific relevance. The globalization of a country is today measured with respect to indices of globalization such as the Maastricht Globalization Index (MGI) and the Konjunkturforschungsstelle (KOF). These indices of national globalization often have an urban bias. This study however explores the extent to which these international measures include rural environments of the globalizing country. When a neutron star accretes hydrogen and helium from the outer layers of its companion star, thermonuclear burning enables the αp-process as a break out mechanism from the hot CNO cycle. Model calculations predict (α, p) reaction rates significantly affect both the light curves and elemental abundances in the burst ashes. The Jet Experiments in Nuclear Structure and Astrophysics (JENSA) gas jet target enables the direct measurement of previously inaccessible (α,p) reactions with radioactive beams provided by the rare isotope re-accelerator ReA3 at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL), USA. Reading Samuel Beckett’S Portrayal Of The Self From A Buddhist Perspective, Achala K. Dissanayake

Journal of Innovation in Science, Engineering and Technology

Samuel Beckett’s evocation of the self through the discussion of the intertwined themes of language, relativity/dependency, memory, time and change invites diverse perspectives from which the self could be read. Beckett, through the delineation of the self as constantly revising itself in relation to its memories and the larger social exterior, portrays the self as fragmented and impermanent. The delineation of the self in the plays Waiting for Godot (1956), Endgame (1958) and Krapp’s Last Tape (1958) as disintegrated, dependent and lacking in certitude, resonates with the Buddhist’s consideration of the self as a mental formulation.
