Crosstown Classic: An Insider's Guide To Chicago Baseball With Depaul Alumni

There are at least a dozen alumni employed by the Chicago Cubs, working in areas as diverse as technology, safety and security, ticket sales, accounting and human resources. Their degrees run the gamut from communication and business to English, computer science and more. DePaul alumni can also be found in the upper ranks of the Chicago White Sox organization, overseeing ­finance, sales and marketing, and legal affairs. DePaul alumni open up about what it is like to work for a Major League Baseball team.

As a student-athlete at Gardner-Webb University, Sherika Montgomery appreciated everything the University administration, faculty, staff and coaches did to help her succeed in the classroom and on the basketball court. After GWU, she worked seven years in the Big South Conference Office, where she was most recently Assistant Commissioner and Senior Woman Administrator. In those roles, she helped set policies, but she’s been waiting for a chance to work directly with student-athletes on a college campus.

Kliszczewicz, Henry N. Williford, Kyung-Shin Park, Bailey A. Welborn, Ronald L. Snarr, Danilo V. Tolusso

International Journal of Exercise Science

International Journal of Exercise Science 10(7): 1085-1093, 2017. The purpose of this study was to determine if heat exposure alters the measures of total body water (TBW), extracellular water (ECW), and intracellular water (ICW) in both single-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) and bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS). Additionally, we sought to determine if any differences exist between the BIA and BIS techniques before and after brief exposure to heat. Body water was evaluated for twenty men (age=24±4 years) in a thermoneutral environment (22°C) before (PRE) and immediately after (POST) 15 min of passive heating (35°C) in an environmental chamber. Rewriting Hockey's Unwritten Rules: Moore V. Bertuzzi, Patrick K. Thornton

Maine Law Review

The word “enforcer” or “hockey goon” does not appear in the 2007–2008 National Hockey League (NHL) rulebook. However, every player and coach knows the meaning of those words. Hockey has always had its share of enforcers or “goons” that have protected star players. Steve Moore, former Harvard captain, and his parents have sued NHL tough-man Todd Bertuzzi, the Vancouver Canucks, and the partnership that owned the Canucks for an on-ice incident that occurred between Moore and Bertuzzi on March 8, 2004.
