Evaluation Of Myplate Recommendations And Dietary Habits Of Eiu Rotc Cadets: A Mixed Methods Approach, Lilibeth Nevarez

The purpose of this study was to determine if MyPlate recommendation knowledge, dietary habits, and eating for performance influence the daily consumption among Eastern Illinois University ROTC Cadets. The sample population included EIU ROTC cadets (n=19), between the ages of 18 to 28 years old. A mixed-method approach, using a questionnaire along with focus groups interviews of six to ten cadets from all class levels, was used to obtain data. Results indicated that the highest mean score was 18.9 for MyPlate recommendation knowledge. In the context of the conference’s topic of ‘Strategic Communication and Public Engagement’ comes this case study, which illustrates the creative use of social media in crowdsourcing ideas from the public with the goal of formulating government policy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Unlike the usual model of top-down policy formulation in many developing countries, the UAE government adopted an experiment entitled ‘The UAE Brainstorming Session’, which is the country’s first technology-based citizen engagement event that leveraged the highly popular social media platforms to elicit ideas and suggestions about public services. Offensive Explosion: An Analysis Of Trends In Hitting Production In Major League Baseball, Laura M. Schreck, Eric J. Sickles

2014 was a record year for pitchers followed by an abrupt reversal in trends with offensive numbers increasing steadily in 2015 and 2016, culminating with a record-setting year for hitters in 2017. This article explores similar offensive explosions throughout the history of Major League Baseball in order to draw parallels to the current extraordinary increase in offense. Evidence of this increase is provided by analyzing the trends of ten separate statistical categories, as well as the statistical trends of the top forty hitters, and twenty pitchers in Major League Baseball. These contracts allow players to be in both the NBA and its developmental/minor league, the Gatorade League–widely known as The G-League at the same time. Many leaders in intercollegiate athletics are under attack due to an overemphasis on winning and revenue generation. In response, some have recommended a transition to a servant leadership approach because of its focus on the well-being of followers and ethical behaviors (Burton & Welty Peachey, 2013; Welty Peachey, Zhou, Damon, & Burton, 2015). The purpose of this study was to examine athletic directors’ potential demonstration of servant leadership and possible contribution to an ethical climate in NCAA Division III institutions. This research was conducted to gain a better understanding of why American sports fans chose to follow international teams and how they consumed the international sports product. The results provided can assist sports marketers learn about the various ways to expand their business internationally and the key factors that most influence non-domestic fans. By understanding fan motivations in an international context, marketers can more effectively execute their business plans when trying to sell in foreign markets. Previous information was gathered regarding fan motivations and behavior, but little was known about fandom abroad.

The purpose of this research was to examine the factors that motivate minor league sports fans. Specifically, this research was designed to analyze the factors that influence a fan’s motivation to attend Rochester Americans games. Over the past several decades minor league sports have experienced a drastic transformation, as more elaborate promotional activity have been introduced. Extensive research has been conducted to better comprehend the inducements of minor league sports fans. Past literature has concluded that the existence of special events and merchandise giveaways significantly impact overall attendance.

This study was conducted to examine the relationship that existed between domestic violence incidents involving National Football League (NFL) players and the popularity of the league. With more media coverage on players’ off the field exploits there was potential that players committing crimes as heinous as domestic violence was having an impact on how fans consumed the NFL’s products. This was initially sparked by the widely publicized incident featuring former Baltimore Ravens running back, Ray Rice. This study was conducted to see what relationship exists between markers of athletic success of NCAA Division I FBS football teams and college applications. There have been multiple studies in the past that have proven this theory to be correct. However, the goal of this study was to understand if these same results can be seen with members outside of the power five conferences. Using systematic sampling, 31 members of the MWC, Conference-USA, MAC, Sun Belt, and AAC were chosen for this study.
