Theses

Multi-channel micro electrodes for neural recording is a growing field that thrives on novel materials and fabrication techniques offered by micro fabrication technology. The material and the design of microelectrodes have a critical role on the quality of neural signals recorded. The neural signals collected by chronic implantation of these devices in experimental animals reveal new information about the brain functions and guide the development of new diagnostic and treatment options for neurological disorders.

The topic of this project is an analysis of drug-related tweets. The goal is to build a Machine Learning Model that can distinguish between tweets that indicate drug abuse and other tweets that also contain the name of a drug but do not describe abuse. Drugs can be illegal, such as heroin, or legal drugs with a potential of abuse, such as painkillers. However, building a good Machine Learning Model requires a large amount of training data. For each training tweet, a human expert has determined whether it indicates drug abuse or not. This is difficult work for humans. …

In 2016, the Turkish Competition Authority (hereinafter, TCA) published the Cement Sector Inquiry Report (hereinafter, Cement Sector Report) following more than two years of market analysis. One of the reasons for conducting such a market inquiry was the fact that the implementation of competition rules and accuracy of the economic analysis by the TCA in cement cases were frequently criticized. The Applicability Of The Decisional Conflict Scale In Nursing Home Placement Decision Among Chinese Family Caregivers: A Mixed Methods Approach, Yu-Ping Chang, Loralee Sessanna, Joanne Kraenzle Schneider

This study aimed to 1) examine relationships between uncertainty, perceived information, personal values, social support, and filial obligation among Chinese family caregivers faced with nursing home placement of an older adult family member with dementia; and 2) describe the applicability of the Decisional Conflict Scale in nursing home placement decision making among Chinese family caregivers through the integration of quantitative and qualitative data.

We used a mixed-methods approach. Quantitative data analysis consisted of descriptive and correlational statistics. We utilized a thematic analysis for the qualitative data. Data transformation and data comparison techniques were used to combine qualitative and quantitative data. …

This report discusses the addition of new collections including the migration of an academic journal, and the addition of two conferences. It also discusses the outreach efforts of the digital team and comments on the download metrics and how they indicate the demographics of users accessing Lesley scholarly and creative works. An infographic is included to provide a visual report of these metrics and to highlight the impact of Lesley scholarship.

An often-overlooked component of a school district website is the necessity for that website to be accessible to those with disabilities, while following the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Workforce Rehabilitation Act. This study investigated the accessibility of school district websites in Kentucky by selecting a random sample of 50 school districts and analyzing their home pages using WAVE (Web Accessibility Versatile Evaluator), which reports accessibility violations by annotating a copy of the page that was evaluated and presenting embedded icons and indicators to disclose breaches with ADA. Considerable research has shown the value of Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) regarding student engagement and motivation, depth of learning, and cognitive flexibility. Student collaboration is one component of this approach, since students must communicate and work together inside and outside of class time when engaging with an IBL project. Choosing a mobile learning tool can benefit student collaboration in so far as the tool enables anytime/anywhere collaborative learning. This research is aimed to investigate the students’ improvement through POGIL (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) learning model. It is a classroom action reesarch. The research was taken under two cycles of four steps (planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting). The data was collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The result of the research shows that there is a significant improvement upon the students’ science processing skill through POGIL learning model.

This study used descriptive research and pre-experimental design. The first one was used to identify student misconception in the mass balance topic at macroscopic, sub-microscopic and symbolic levels. The second design aims to correct the misconceptions discovered by using the POE strategy. After three weeks the delayed test was done to find out the concept improvement using POE strategy. This design was also used to determine the effectiveness of POE strategies to achieve the aims. The results showed misconception on mass balance material with an average of 32.97%. The objective of the study is to determine the differences in motivation and cognitive achievement between groups of students that learned with Problem Posing-WhatsApp model with group of students that learned with the Problem Posing only in Stoichiometry material. The research design used a quasi-experimental design without pre-test. Experiment class learned with Problem Posing by using WhatsApp learning model while the control class learned with Problem Posing learning model.
