This paper discusses the impact of introducing a multi-day introduction in an art history survey course in order to promote student awareness of the transferability of the skills and strategies of visual analysis to other contexts and courses outside of the discipline. Class discussion, course activities, and supplemental support materials were developed with the goal of generating student interest, investment, and self-efficacy in connection with art historical methodology and study strategies. Student performance and feedback in a recent survey course employing this introduction was then compared to earlier offerings of the course that did not employ this introduction. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), a respiratory disease that leads to reduced airflow, may result in difficulty swallowing with disease progression. The coordination between the respiratory and swallowing systems decouple and they may experience increased risk of aspiration. This study aimed to determine the effects of lung volume on swallowing in individuals with COPD compared with older healthy. Specifically, the study examined if altering lung volume at the time of the swallow changed swallowing timing, specifically pharyngeal swallow duration, and impacted the respiratory-swallow pattern in individuals with COPD. Pediatric diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is on the rise with an increasing financial burden to the healthcare system and the patient (Center for Disease Control, 2015). This study sought to determine if an educational intervention would increase the knowledge of primary care providers in respect to ADHD clinical practice guidelines and the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric patients. An initial online survey was administered to primary care nurse practitioners in an attempt to determine their knowledge level, provider feelings and current practices in regards to pediatric ADHD in this region. The purpose of this project was to determine the potential need for an app to allow patients to self-manage their asthma and allergies. Through a substantial literature review, the need for an app as well as a desire for this population to manage their disease was demonstrated. Determination was made to have three separate components to create an all-inclusive app, an education component, an asthma tracker, and a personalized allergy profile. Background and Purpose: Bronchiectasis is a chronic lung disease defined by permanent, abnormal dilation of the bronchi and accompanied by chronic airway infection which leads to airway inflammation. Bronchiectasis is progressive and leads to a cycle of worsening pulmonary damage. Pulmonary rehabilitation, including progressive gait training, cycling, and stair climbing, is often utilized as treatment for this condition. However, there has been little research conducted on its effectiveness for bronchiectasis. The purpose of this case report is to examine physical therapy (PT) management, utilizing pulmonary rehabilitation with incorporated balance training, for a geriatric patient with bronchiectasis. Although the music of Silvestre Revueltas has often been categorized as merely Mexicanist, this paper aims to demonstrate that not all of his music falls squarely within that classification. Among his brief but significant artistic output, three pieces for voice and small instrumental ensemble incorporate Afro-Caribbean stylistic elements drawn from popular and religious Afro-Cuban music. An Advanced Mesosphere Temperature Mapper and other instruments at the Arctic Lidar Observatory for Middle Atmosphere Research in Norway (69.3°N) and at Logan and Bear Lake Observatory in Utah (42°N) are used to demonstrate a new method for quantifying gravity wave (GW) pseudo-momentum fluxes accompanying spatially and temporally localized GW packets. The method improves on previous airglow techniques by employing direct characterization of the GW temperature perturbations averaged over the OH airglow layer and correlative wind and temperature measurements to define the intrinsic GW properties with high confidence. The 1920s National School Band Contests and the 1980s Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association’s state marching competition followed parallel paths as music educators involved in each event wrestled with the value of competition and its implications in education. Various tensions over the competitive aspects of the events led to revisions that ultimately changed their purpose to assessment-oriented festivals. This study investigates the effects of differentiated instruction on student engagement, student satisfaction, and students’ perceived quality of artwork in the high school art classroom. In order to determine its effectiveness, students were presented a control and test lesson. The control lesson utilized limited differentiation, and students completed similar notes, projects and critiques. The Test Lesson incorporated multiple differentiated practices, including strategic grouping based on learning profile and interest. The test lesson also offered choices for student projects based on interest and readiness, and choices for a critique, based on interest and learning profile. On this Veterans' Voices, we hear from two veterans who never saw combat. Even though that’s the case for most men and women who serve in the military, Cody Stevens of Xenia and Cole Hamilton of Dayton have mixed feelings about not getting to deploy. Cole is an Army veteran and Cody is a Marine Corps veteran. Both are Wright State students.

Background: Persons aged 65 years and older represent a heterogeneous group whose prevalence in the USA is expected to markedly increase. Few investigations have examined the total burden of disease attributable to lower levels of income in a single number that accounts for morbidity and mortality.

Methods: We ascertained respondents’ health-related quality of life (HRQOL) scores and mortality status from the 2003 to 2004, 2005 to 2006, 2007 to 2008 and 2009 to 2010 cohorts of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) with mortality follow-up through 31 December 2011. Leading Economic Indicator – Nebraska (LEI-N) 1 fell by 0.32% during November of 2016. The decline in the LEI-N, which predicts economic activity six months in the future, suggests that economic growth will be modest in Nebraska during the first half of 2017. Four of six components of the LEI-N were negative during November. Airline passenger counts and manufacturing hours both declined during the month. There also was another increase in the value of the U.S. dollar during November, a negative for export-oriented businesses in Nebraska. This dataset contains acoustic ambient noise from five locations in the Gulf of Mexico. These detections are given by site and monthly average of noise spectral level. Passive acoustic monitoring was conducted with High-frequency Acoustic Recording Packages. These data were calibrated and then converted to average spectral data as a monthly time series. Data were collected from May 2010 to September 2013.

The purpose of this project was to confirm the difficulties and barriers to precepting nurse practitioner students found in the literature by conducting a focus group with nurse practitioners who were currently precepting and some who were not. Participants were volunteers at a 4-State APN Conference in Joplin, Missouri. The group did confirm the barriers to precepting noted in the research. The most common theme noted during the group was that nurse practitioners felt ill-prepared to precept nurse practitioner students, a concept also noted in the literature. Employer managed health centers were investigated in order to develop a business proposal to present to a Midwestern city for implementation. Benefits to the employer and employee were investigated and included in the proposal. Companies of varying size have implemented successful onsite health centers and help to increase employee productivity while decreasing the overall cost of health care and health care insurance. Self-insured companies with at least 1000 employees are recommended and will provide the earliest return of investment.
