The purpose of this study was to describe and explain the perspectives of a professor emeritus regarding his life experiences in the discipline of chemistry and in a career dedicated to research, service and teaching. Another purpose, interwoven within the perspective of this one individual, was to explore the potential influence a professor emeritus can have on his institution, and the impact the institution, its changing culture, and its shifting priorities may have on a member of the professoriate dedicated to this chosen career path. This study addresses current educational, political, and social challenges that many marginalized countries face, especially nations in the Broader Middle East and North Africa (BMENA) region. The study examines the types of hegemony and its effects by addressing political, social, and educational ramifications. When April Hoelke Simpson (’14) studied Greek and Hebrew, she was fascinated with how the languages enhanced her understanding of the biblical text. This project was part of a larger suite of similar studies being concurrently conducted at fifteen religious studies libraries in US higher education institutions in conjunction with Ithaka S+R, a not-for-profit research and consulting service that helps academic, cultural, and publishing communities. The information gathered in this study will not only be used to improve the research support services at Brigham Young University but also towards writing a larger report from the aggregated results written and publically disseminated by Ithaka S+R.

Building Capacity And Transforming Lives: Anthropology Undergraduates And Religious Campus-Climate Research On A Public University Campus, Bonnie Glass-Coffin

Interfaith Initiative Research

This paper tells the story of how undergraduate researchers participating in an applied and participatory anthropological research project at Utah State University have used their research experience to help make our campus a more welcoming place for all who orient around religion and spirituality differently. The campus-climate research project described herein was designed to investigate the relationship between diverse religious and spiritual commitments and feelings of discomfort or well-being on our campus. Students who worked on this project gained valuable skills as researchers. Additionally, they became student leaders of a movement to promote a more welcoming climate on campus. Both …

An Examination Of Information Literacy: A Survey Of Community College Faculty, Jamie D. Smith

The purpose of this study is to identify the information literacy dispositions that community college faculty find important to their disciplines and therefore, to their students. The study examined who community college faculty members believe is responsible for teaching various information literacy concepts. The study analyzed community college faculty responses related to information literacy skills. Research was conducted in accordance with the Association of College and Research Libraries’ information literacy framework and measured the importance of specific information literacy skills from the perception of faculty. Freedom And The Incarnation, Timothy Pawl, Kevin Timpe

In this paper, we explore how free will should be understood within the Christian doctrine of the Incarnation, particularly on the assumption of traditional Christology. We focus on two issues: (i) reconciling Christ's free will with the claim that Christ's human will was subjected to the divine will in the Incarnation; and (ii) reconciling the claims that Christ was fully human and free with the belief that Christ, since God, could not sin.
