Modular And Dynamic Approaches To The Formation Of Single-Chain Polymer Nanoparticles, Bryan Tyler Tuten Jan 2016

Modular And Dynamic Approaches To The Formation Of Single-Chain Polymer Nanoparticles, Bryan Tyler Tuten

Doctoral Dissertations

The methodology towards the creation of nanoscale polymeric objects by way of the folding of single polymer chains has been enjoying success in the field of polymer chemistry and materials science. By synthesizing polymer chains with built in functionality either through functional side groups, or direct incorporation into the polymer backbone, polymer chemists are able to fold single polymer chains onto themselves through a broad range of covalent and non-covalent interactions in dilute solution. These compact, nano-sized objects can now be used in a wide arrange of functions and applications.

The aim of this dissertation is to provide first, a …

Ontology Of Close Human-Nature Relationships, Neil H. Kessler Jan 2016

Ontology Of Close Human-Nature Relationships, Neil H. Kessler

Doctoral Dissertations

The world’s environmental problems call out for solutions. At root, many of the solutions currently being offered revolve around how modern humans relate to the environment. An array of theorists have offered perspectives and prescriptions for improvement of this relationship, with many seeking to promote a sense of closeness between human and nonhuman. But, in attempting to offer perspectives on how this might be achieved, theorists tend to neglect the relational structure and dynamics that produce closeness or, if exploring it, tend to characterize the nonhuman as incapable of participating in it as a truly close, relational partner. In this …

An Assessment Of Campus Climate In Sexual Minority College Students: Recommendations For Creating An Inclusive Campus, Jennifer Murray Jan 2016

An Assessment Of Campus Climate In Sexual Minority College Students: Recommendations For Creating An Inclusive Campus, Jennifer Murray

Theses

While several studies have clearly identified a link between sexual minority status and discrimination, harassment, and victimization on college campuses, less in known about sexual minority students and other indicators of campus climate. The goal of the current study was to examine the association between sexual minority status and students’ perceptions of their connection to the university, trust in the university to keep them safe, and confidence in sexual assault reporting system at their university. Contrary to the predictions, there was no significant difference between LGBTQ students and non-LGBTQ students in their connection to the university and trust in the …

A Global Measure Of Digital And Ict Literacy Skills, John Ainley, Wolfram Schulz, Julian Fraillon Jan 2016

A Global Measure Of Digital And Ict Literacy Skills, John Ainley, Wolfram Schulz, Julian Fraillon

ICT - Digital Literacy

Digital and ICT literacy is considered an important competence for full participation in a knowledge economy and an information society. Consequently, interest at national and international level has emerged to explore the best ways of measuring the extent to which, and how equitably, competence in this area is being achieved. This paper reviews the definitions of digital and ICT literacy that have been adopted in cross-national studies, investigates the approaches to the assessment of digital and ICT literacy that have been employed in those studies and articulates the criteria that should guide the development of a global measure of digital …
