Cyberbullying In Rural Communities: Origin And Processing Through The Lens Of Older Adolescents, Lisa Reason, Michael Boyd, Casey Reason
Cyberbullying In Rural Communities: Origin And Processing Through The Lens Of Older Adolescents, Lisa Reason, Michael Boyd, Casey Reason
The Qualitative Report
The experiences of older adolescent cyberbullying victims from a rural community were explored in this qualitative study. Findings revealed that cyberbullying originates primarily as the result of jealousy over romantic relationships and cultural, religious, or sexual orientation intolerance. Participants also indicated that cyberbullies tend to be more brazen and cruel as the result of perceived anonymity. In addition, participants reported feelings of helplessness and rage in response to the attacks. Finally, participants suggested that the lack of knowledge and understanding of cyberspace resulted in a lack of emotional support and protection against cyberbullying.
Bank Branching Deregulation And High School Graduation, Patrick Reilly
Bank Branching Deregulation And High School Graduation, Patrick Reilly
Economics Faculty Working Papers Series
This paper utilizes variation in timing of deregulation to investigate the relationship between bank branching deregulation and educational outcomes for individuals in 39 states over the period 1977 - 1999. In order to investigate the labor market channel, this paper focuses on the relationship between deregulation and high school graduation, as opposed to recent studies focusing on the relationship between deregulation and college attendance via the credit market channel. Results indicate increases in the likelihood of graduating high school after deregulation. Results also suggest heterogeneity in effects due to race and age at deregulation. Finally, models testing the relationship between …
High-Fidelity Simulation Influences On Novice Baccalaureate Nursing Students, Barbara Connelley
High-Fidelity Simulation Influences On Novice Baccalaureate Nursing Students, Barbara Connelley

Integrated Circuit Wear-Out Prediction And Recycling Detection Using Radio-Frequency Distinct Native Attribute Features, Randall D. Deppensmith
Integrated Circuit Wear-Out Prediction And Recycling Detection Using Radio-Frequency Distinct Native Attribute Features, Randall D. Deppensmith
Theses and Dissertations
Radio Frequency Distinct Native Attribute (RF-DNA) has shown promise for detecting differences in Integrated Circuits(IC) using features extracted from a devices Unintentional Radio Emissions (URE). This ability of RF-DNA relies upon process variation imparted to a semiconductor device during manufacturing. However, internal components in modern ICs electronically age and wear out over their operational lifetime. RF-DNA techniques are adopted from prior work and applied to MSP430 URE to address the following research goals: 1) Does device wear-out impact RF-DNA device discriminability?, 2) Can device age be continuously estimated by monitoring changes in RF-DNA features?, and 3) Can device age state …
Kinetics Of Graphite Oxidation In Reacting Flow From Imaging Fourier Transform Spectroscopy, Ashley E. Gonzales
Kinetics Of Graphite Oxidation In Reacting Flow From Imaging Fourier Transform Spectroscopy, Ashley E. Gonzales
Theses and Dissertations
This work focuses on the characterization of laser irradiated graphite oxidation using mid-wave infrared (MWIR) imaging Fourier transform spectroscopy (IFTS). Although graphite oxidation has been studied extensively, IFTS uniquely provides spatial characterization of the reacting plumes. Spatial maps of species and temperature provide much needed insight into the transport and kinetic mechanisms and are vital for validation of numerical efforts. The current study builds on previous work using IFTS to characterize graphite oxidation in buoyant flow. Buoyant flow measurements are expanded to a wider range of graphite materials and surface temperatures. Oxidation in flat plate shear flow and stagnation flow …
Analysis Of Small Muscle Movement Effects On Eeg Signals, Erhan E. Yanteri
Analysis Of Small Muscle Movement Effects On Eeg Signals, Erhan E. Yanteri
Theses and Dissertations
In this thesis, the artefactual effects of the small muscle movements were investigated. Upper frequency bands (30 Hz) of the EEG signal were extracted in order to investigate the artefactual effects of the small muscle movements. When the contamination level is high, the detection of the small muscle artifact can be made with the 92.2% accuracy. If these artifacts are really small such as a single finger movement, the detection accuracy decreases to 64%. But, the detection accuracy increases to 72% after removing the eye blink artifacts. The results of the classification support our hypothesis about the artefactual effects of …

Language Policy And The Preparedness Of Mainstream Teachers For Serving Els In K-12 Classrooms, Laureen A. Fregeau, Robert D. Leier
Language Policy And The Preparedness Of Mainstream Teachers For Serving Els In K-12 Classrooms, Laureen A. Fregeau, Robert D. Leier
TAPESTRY
English language learners (ELs) numbers are increasing steadily in classrooms across the United States. Some southeastern states have seen more than a 200% EL student increase in recent years (Migration Policy Institute, 2010). Since the inception of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and especially since Title I “flexibility” revisions, responsibility for educating ELs has shifted from ESOL and bilingual teachers to primarily mainstream teachers. States that have opted out of NCLB under flexibility revisions are no longer as accountable to the U. S. Department of Education for the education of ELs. States and school districts are no longer required to …
An Esol Curricular Model: Infuse Esol Standards In Teacher Education, Deborah L. Wheeler, Jane M. Govoni
An Esol Curricular Model: Infuse Esol Standards In Teacher Education, Deborah L. Wheeler, Jane M. Govoni
TAPESTRY
Florida approved teacher preparation programs provide coursework in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) based on a mandate that began for graduates in 2004; however, there are few studies on the effects of an ESOL integrated model. The data show that an ESOL-infused program effectively prepares teacher candidates in demonstrating ESOL standards. The data were applied to a Likert scale and the results revealed that the program ranked between the ranges of average and exceeds expectations. The results will foster further research on a larger scale on ways to effectively prepare teacher candidates to work with English learners (ELs).

Optimism As A Mediating Factor In The Relationship Between Anxiety And News Media Exposure In College Students, Danielle Hoyt
Honors Projects in Applied Psychology
Recently, media research has focused on young people to determine what effect violent media images may have on aggressive behavior, but little research has investigated the kind of psychological distress similar images may cause. What emotional impact does increased exposure to negative and even violent news coverage have on young adults? In this study, the relationship between such news media and anxiety levels is examined, as well as the possible mediating role that an optimistic life orientation may play in that relationship. It is hypothesized that the degree to which these individuals follow news media will positively correlate with their …

Re-Optimization Of Radiation Therapy Dose To The Prostate Using Cbct: Reducing Dose To Organs At Risk, R. Charles Keider Jr.
Masters Theses
Cancer of the prostate is the second most common cancer among American males. The prostate is small gland, located in the pelvis, posterior to the bladder and anterior/inferior to the rectum. Due to this location when irradiating the prostate the normal tissue organs at risk are the bladder and rectum. Negative effects seen when these structures are irradiated can include; bladder stricture, dysuria, hematuria, diarrhea, rectal bleeding, and proctitis.
In order to eliminate or reduce these negative effects more precise and accurate treatment techniques have been employed. Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) has been successful in achieving greater precision when …
