On Saints, Sinners, And Sex In The Apocalypse Of Saint John And The Sefer Zerubbabel, Natalie Latteri Dec 2016

On Saints, Sinners, And Sex In The Apocalypse Of Saint John And The Sefer Zerubbabel, Natalie Latteri

Theology & Religious Studies

The Apocalypse of St. John and the Sefer Zerubbabel [a.k.a Apocalypse of Zerubbabel] are among the most popular apocalypses of the Common Era. While the Johannine Apocalypse was written by a first-century Jewish-Christian author and would later be refracted through a decidedly Christian lens, and the Sefer Zerubbabel was probably composed by a seventh-century Jewish author for a predominantly Jewish audience, the two share much in the way of plot, narrative motifs, and archetypal characters. An examination of these commonalities and, in particular, how they intersect with gender and sexuality, suggests that these texts also may have functioned similarly as …

Stability Of Cross-Feeding Polymorphisms In Microbial Communities, Ivana Gudelj, Margie Kinnersley, Peter Rashkov, Karen Schmidt, Frank Rosenzweig

Biological Sciences Faculty Publications

Cross-feeding, a relationship wherein one organism consumes metabolites excreted by another, is a ubiquitous feature of natural and clinically-relevant microbial communities and could be a key factor promoting diversity in extreme and/or nutrient-poor environments. However, it remains unclear how readily cross-feeding interactions form, and therefore our ability to predict their emergence is limited. In this paper we developed a mathematical model parameterized using data from the biochemistry and ecology of an E. coli cross-feeding laboratory system. The model accurately captures short-term dynamics of the two competitors that have been observed empirically and we use it to systematically explore the stability …

Interprofessional practice (IPP), collaboration of professionals from different backgrounds working together to provide services, is of growing importance in speech-language pathology and across other disciplines in the vast health field (WHO, 2010). The American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) stresses the importance of communicating roles and responsibilities of health professionals to provide the best quality care for patients (Dixon & Oandasan, 2015). In order to understand the roles and responsibilities across disciplines, health care professionals and students need to be provided with the necessary education. Currently, an initiative for interprofessional competency is being constructed to provide more involved education for …

Sustainability And Spread Of Community-Based Initiatives: A Case Study Of Community Cares, A Children’S Hospital’S 16 Year Effort To Serve Its Community, Robert F. Austin, Patricia Coleman, Stephanie Meads, Angelo P. Giardino

Journal of Family Strengths

The sustainability and spread of innovations is often elusive, presenting continuous challenges to clinicians and healthcare leaders. Somewhere between 33 - 70% of all innovations are reportedly not sustained, and even fewer are spread beyond the original team, or to other units within an organization. In plain language, sustainability is defined as locking in progress, while continually building upon that foundation, while spread is the exchange of knowledge and experience to others beyond the original implementing team. The literature supports the concept that sustainability is both multi-dimensional and multi-factorial and has several characteristics and pre-conditions. Tax-exempt, not-for-profit organizations in the …

Managers Or Corporates?: Curbing Non-Compliance Through Corporate Income Tax Penalty, Deogratias N. Mahangila

Business Management Review

Governments normally impose tax penalties for tax non-compliance. They can either impose financial corporate income tax penalties on corporates or tax managers in cases of corporate income tax non-compliance. However, the effectiveness of these corporate income tax penalty incidences remains largely unknown. This paper examines their effectiveness experimentally. In all, 100 Bachelor of Commerce second-year students at the University of Dar es Salaam participated in the laboratory experiment. The participants were randomly assigned into two groups: of managers and of owner-managers. Then the two groups were subdivided randomly into two groups based on corporate income tax penalty incidences: corporate income …

Influence Of Perceived Trust In Rural Consumer Mobile Payment Service Adoption: An Understanding Of Moderation Effects Of Gender And Age, Eliezer Taluka, Juma James Masele

Business Management Review

Mobile Payment Services present a noble potential to increase financial inclusiveness by extending access to financial services to rural consumers, which have to contend with severely access to traditional financial facilities such as Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), bank branches and other financial institutions. Despite the potential that mobile payment services offer, perceived uncertainties present one of the causes behind low consumer mobile payment services adoption in rural areas. Yet, the extent to which perceived trust influence behavioural intention to adopt mobile payment services in Tanzania differ among younger and older rural consumers, and, female and male rural consumers has not …

Keefektifan “Proses Guru” Sebagai Teknik Bimbingan Kelompok Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pengambilan Keputusan Karier Siswa Smk, Guruh Sukma Hanggara

Jurnal Kajian Bimbingan dan Konseling

Career decision-making abilities are an important part of a student's career development continuum. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the GURU (Ground, Understand, Revise, Use) process as a group guidance technique to improve vocational school students' career decision-making abilities. The Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design experimental method was used in this research and the subjects were 12 students of SMKN 1 Trenggalek. Data analysis using the Two Independent Sample Test Mann Whitney U, obtained the Asymp value. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.03 < real level ( /2 = 0.05) and it was concluded that the "GURU Process" as a group guidance technique was effective in improving the career decision making abilities of vocational school students. From these results, the researcher suggests that Counselors/BK Teachers can collaborate the TEACHER process with various other approaches, using it to develop various student potentials by paying attention to their development stages, psychological aspects and intervention content. Future researchers are advised to examine the GURU process with other research designs such as Single-Subject Designs or action research and pay attention to the use and feasibility of the instrument and its validity, as well as applying it to develop various other psychological aspects such as motivation, self-esteem, self-efficacy, critical thinking skills, the ability to think respectfully and so on.
