‘Much Clearer With Pictures’: Using Community-Based Participatory Research To Design And Test A Picture Option Grid For Underserved Patients With Breast Cancer, Marie-Anne Durand, Shama Alam, Stuart W. Grande, Glyn Elwyn
Dartmouth Scholarship
Women of low socioeconomic status (SES) diagnosed with early stage breast cancer experience decision-making, treatment and outcome disparities. Evidence suggests that decision aids can benefit underserved patients, when tailored to their needs. Our aim was to develop and test the usability, acceptability and accessibility of a pictorial encounter decision aid targeted at women of low SES diagnosed with early stage breast cancer.

Honors College Participation Program, Cassandra Davis
Honors Projects
The Honors College Participation Program is a program that was implemented within the Bowling Green State University Honors College. The purpose of this program was to connect students to honors faculty and staff, motivate students to attend events and serve in leadership positions, and encourage a sense of community within the Honors College. The program had a set of points assigned to different activities and as students would attend events and complete activities they were awarded points. Once a student reached a certain threshold of points, they would be awarded prizes. My project focused on creating a portal in which …

Post-Revolutionary Mexican Education In Durango And Jalisco: Regional Differences, Cultures Of Violence, Teaching, And Folk Catholicism, Lindsey Ellison Collins
Post-Revolutionary Mexican Education In Durango And Jalisco: Regional Differences, Cultures Of Violence, Teaching, And Folk Catholicism, Lindsey Ellison Collins
Dissertations and Theses
This thesis explored a regional comparison of education in post-revolutionary Mexico. It involved a micro-look into the relationship between violence, education, religion, and politics in the states of Durango and Jalisco. Research methods included primary sources and microfilms from the National Archives State Department records related to education from the internal affairs of Mexico from 1930-1939 from collection file M1370. It also utilized G-2 United States Military Intelligence reports as well as records from the British National Archives dealing with church and state relations in Mexico from 1920-1939.

Evaluating Faculty And Student Perceptions Of Blended Education To Determine And Measure Student Satisfaction In A Blended Learning Program With At-Risk High School Students, Daquia J. Mccoy
Graduate Student Dissertations, Theses, Capstones, and Portfolios
In recent years, the rapid development of information and communication technology has facilitated a convergence between face-to-face and technology-mediated learning environments. In addition, the impact of learning environments in relation to learning outcomes has constantly been explored by researchers and is a constant concern amongst teachers as they seek to improve student learning outcomes in their classrooms. According to a 2003 National Research Council report on motivation (i.e., student satisfaction), lack of motivation is a real and pressing problem in the traditional classroom. Upwards of 40 percent of high school students are chronically disengaged from school.
Nonetheless, there is a …

Design Of A Tandem Rotor Hovering Vehicle, Brent Kostich
Design Of A Tandem Rotor Hovering Vehicle, Brent Kostich
Honors Theses
An investigation of thrust vectoring and an examination of existing tandem rotor dynamics were used to develop a structural body for a tandem rotor vehicle, derive the equations of motion of the system, and simulate a dynamic model of the vehicle. A vehicle prototype was constructed while further application of remote control capabilities, flight testing, and control development were researched. The dynamic simulation was based on a linear model of the system so as to open the possibility of implementing a control system. The simulation results show that thrust synchronization yields a predictable motion response. The prototype constructed did not …
How Can The Relationship Between Climate Change And The Coast Redwood Forest Be Incorporated Into Fifth And Sixth Grade Environmental Education Programs?, Dorea Eve Martin
How Can The Relationship Between Climate Change And The Coast Redwood Forest Be Incorporated Into Fifth And Sixth Grade Environmental Education Programs?, Dorea Eve Martin
School of Education and Leadership Student Capstone Theses and Dissertations
The question for this research is: how can the relationship between climate change and the coast redwood forest be incorporated into fifth and sixth grade environmental education programs? Climate change is a real, global problem, and this capstone is intended as a resource for environmental educators to incorporate climate change into their programs. It includes a literature review of scientific research on climate change impacts on coast redwood forests and presents a lesson plan for teaching climate change in the redwood setting. The lesson plan covers basic climate science, dendrochronology, and carbon footprints, and was conducted at Westminster Woods, a …
Tutoring As An Elementary Reading Intervention To Benefit Bilingual Learners In Mexico, Hannah Marie Paulson
Tutoring As An Elementary Reading Intervention To Benefit Bilingual Learners In Mexico, Hannah Marie Paulson
School of Education and Leadership Student Capstone Theses and Dissertations
The research question addressed in this capstone project is, can peer tutoring be used as an effective elementary reading intervention to benefit bilingual learners in Mexico? Key influence for this capstone was the author’s observation of a lack of effective reading interventions in bilingual environments. The study is a qualitative study in which the author implemented a seven-week peer tutoring training with nineteen fifth grade tutors. These peer tutors each worked one on one with a fourth grade student to apply specific reading strategies. The goal of the capstone was to determine whether peer tutors could positively affect student outcomes …

Hypercube Unfoldings That Tile R3 And R2, Giovanna Diaz, Joseph O'Rourke
Computer Science: Faculty Publications
We show that the hypercube has a face-unfolding that tiles space, and that unfolding has an edge-unfolding that tiles the plane. So the hypercube is a "dimension-descending tiler." We also show that the hypercube cross unfolding made famous by Dali tiles space, but we leave open the question of whether or not it has an edge-unfolding that tiles the plane.
