Government Export Promotion Programmes And Firms’ Export Behaviour: Exploring The Indirect Link. The Case Of Uk & Algerian Manufacturing Firms, Mohamed Yacine Haddoud
Government Export Promotion Programmes And Firms’ Export Behaviour: Exploring The Indirect Link. The Case Of Uk & Algerian Manufacturing Firms, Mohamed Yacine Haddoud
Plymouth Business School Theses
It has been recognised that exporting is an engine for growth at both country and firm levels. However, the challenging nature of international business often prevents companies from entering and surviving in international markets. In the Small and Medium-size Business context, lack of resource is normally the main reason behind the inability of firms to overcome export barriers. In recognition of the issue and for promoting exporting, the governments have been offering the so-called Government Export Promotion Programmes (GEPPs) to act as “resource supplements”. While there have been extensive practices, the mechanism and effectiveness of these programmes have not been …

Effect Of Ownership Structure On Firm Stock Returns And Financial Performance:Evidence From The Egyptian Stock Market, Amal Elghouti
Plymouth Business School Theses
The effect of institutional ownership and ownership concentration on the firm’s stock returns and volatility and financial performance has long been an interesting issue in the international business literature. A lot of debate has been going on regarding the relationship between institutional ownership, ownership concentration, returns, volatility and financial performance. The objective of this thesis is to study the effect of institutional ownership and ownership concentration on firm stock returns and financial performance of the listed companies in the Egyptian Stock Exchange. For this purpose, panel data model is employed. The results from the analysis show that institutional ownership has …

The Relational Geographies Of Policing And Security, Richard Yarwood, Till Paasche
School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences
AbstractThis paper considers the roles of policing and security in the geographies of everyday public and semi‐public space. We contend that while security is concerned with territory, policing relates to place. We consider the relationship between security and territory before examining the relationship between policing and place. In the final section, we argue that a relational view of space is needed to understand how practices of policing and security shape space and, in turn, the lives of people using it.
Using Campinas- Barcode’S Cultural Competency Model And Roach's Model Of Caring To Enhance Self-Perception Of Cultural Competence And Perceived Knowledge Of Caring Among Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, And Community Nurses., Alicia Bannis
Electronic Theses and Dissertations 2010 - 2019
As the culturally diverse healthcare population in the United States rises, the demand for healthcare providers who are knowledgeable in providing culturally competent care increases. Community health care providers are mandated to make cultural competence a priority in their clinical practice. This mandate challenges healthcare professionals to increase their knowledge of cultural diversity and caring behaviors and provide appropriate health care services to meet the needs of racially and ethnically diverse clients. For this project, an assessment of community healthcare providers’ self-perception of cultural competence and perceived knowledge of caring behaviors was untaken while posing the question: “How does a …

Defining Competence In Obstetric Epidural Anaesthesia For Inexperienced Trainees, E. J. Drake, J. Coghill, J. R. Sneyd
Peninsula Medical School
Background: Cumulative sum (CUSUM) analysis has been used for assessing competence of trainees learning new technical skills. One of its disadvantages is the required definition of acceptable and unacceptable success rates. We therefore monitored the development of competence amongst trainees new to obstetric epidural anaesthesia in a large public hospital. Methods: Obstetric epidural data were collected prospectively between January 1996 and December 2011. Success rates for inexperienced trainees were calculated retrospectively for (1) the whole database, (2) for each consecutive attempt and (3) each trainee's individual overall success rate. Acceptable and unacceptable success rates were defined and CUSUM graphs generated …

Background: The 12-question Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Walking Scale (MSWS-12v1) is a widely-used patient-reported outcome (PRO) measure of walking ability in MS. Objective: To estimate the magnitude of an important change in MSWS-12v1 scores for the interpretation of meaningful subject-level improvements across a 6-month trial of MS patients with walking disability. Methods: MOBILE was a 6-month exploratory study assessing fampridine’s effect on walking ability in 132 people with MS. Three PRO measures assessed walking ability: MSWS-12v1, EuroQol 5-Dimension-5 Level (EQ-5D-5L) mobility question, and a patient global impression of change (PGIC) in overall walking ability. Pre-specified anchor- and distribution-based analyses estimated the …

Microglia are resident immune cells in the brain and exert important functions in the regulation of inflammatory processes during infection or cellular damage. Upon activation, microglia undergo complex morphological and functional transitions, including increased motility, phagocytosis and cytokine secretion. Recent findings indicate that exosomes, small vesicles that derive from fusion of multivesicular bodies with the plasma membrane, are involved in secretion of certain cytokines. The presence of specific receptors on the surface of microglia suggests communication with neurons by neurotransmitters. Here, we demonstrate expression of serotonin receptors, including 5‐HT2a,b and 5‐HT4 in microglial cells and their functional involvement in the …

In Sept 2013 the Plymouth Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry enrolled its first students. From the beginning this new Plymouth-based medical school set out be distinctive and to enshrine our parent University principles in the curriculum that we offer. We decided that the term “making a difference” could be used both to summarize our mission as a medical and dental school, and to characterise the individual student experience that we offer.- The school as a whole would make a difference to the health and wellbeing of our population - Every student will be able to ‘make a difference’ during …
