Methods: In a case control study, 203 consecutive patients (146 males and 57 females) with their first AMI and age below 45 years were enrolled with informed consent. Similarly, 205 gender and age matched (within 3 years) healthy adults were also included as controls. Dietary intake of both cases and controls was assessed by using a simple 14-item food frequency questionnaire. Ilo Labor Standards And Trade Agreements: A Case For Consistency, Desiree Leclercq, Jordi Agusti-Panareda, Franz Christian Ebert
Ilo Labor Standards And Trade Agreements: A Case For Consistency, Desiree Leclercq, Jordi Agusti-Panareda, Franz Christian Ebert
Scholarly Works
A growing number of trade agreements have taken an important step toward ensuring consistency by referring to - and hence incorporating the legal content of - ILO instruments. On its face, this uniform reference suggests an increasing alignment between the ILO's international labor standards system and the labor provisions included in the various trade agreements. The application of these references in the decentralized trade context needs to be considered carefully, however, as there is a risk of inconsistent practices between agreements.
Formalism And Distrust: Foreign Affairs Law In The Roberts Court,, Harlan G. Cohen
Formalism And Distrust: Foreign Affairs Law In The Roberts Court,, Harlan G. Cohen
Scholarly Works
When it comes to foreign relations, the Roberts Court has trust issues. As far as the Court is concerned, everyone — the President, Congress, the lower courts, plaintiffs — has played hard and fast with the rules, taking advantage of the Court’s functionalist approaches to foreign affairs issues. This seems to be the message of the Roberts Court foreign affairs law jurisprudence. The Roberts Court has been active in foreign affairs law, deciding cases on the detention and trial of enemy combatants, foreign sovereign immunity, the domestic effect of treaties, the extraterritorial reach of federal statutes, the preemption of state …
The Acute Effects Of Multiple Resisted Sled-Pull Loads On Subsequent Sprint-Running Performances, Carl Stephen Crouse
The Acute Effects Of Multiple Resisted Sled-Pull Loads On Subsequent Sprint-Running Performances, Carl Stephen Crouse
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
Sled-pulling is a commonly implemented form of training for various sports. However, few studies have used sled-pulling as a means of acutely enhancing sprintrunning performances. The purpose of this study was to investigate how various sledpulling resistance loads (95% and 110% of body mass) effect subsequent, unloaded, sprint-running performances, possibly with aid from the effect known as Post-Activation Potentiation (PAP). PAP is a physiological phenomenon which increases the rate of force development of skeletal muscle which may result in the enhancement of power (speed-strength) dominant activities such as sprint-running and jumping.

Factors That Influence Perceptions Of Others: An Emphasis On Down Syndrome, Briana J. Walls
Undergraduate Theses and Capstone Projects
The current study examined how physical characteristics influence perceptions others have of people with Down syndrome (DS). Participants were shown one of four pictures, which were an adult male with Down syndrome facial characteristics, an adult male without Down syndrome facial characteristic, a male child with Down syndrome facial characteristic and a male child without Down syndrome facial characteristics. After viewing one of the four pictures with a description of likes and dislikes of the person in the picture, the participants completed a questionnaire examining perceptions of cognitive-behavioral competence, emotional distance- discomfort, and occupational ability. The hypothesis of this study …

The 21st Century School Teacher Librarian: Trends In The Iowa School Library Survey Data Over The Last Decade, Emily Baltes
Graduate Research Papers
The purpose of this study is to explore the Iowa School Library Survey data at ten year intervals to describe differences in professional teacher librarian staffing levels, time spent supporting reading guidance, and time spent in collaboration with other teachers. Raw data was examined from the 2003-2004 and 2013-2014 School Library Surveys. Although 1034 surveys were completed in 2003-2004, and 681 were completed in 2013- 2014, this study only analyzed data for the 339 schools with accurate entry both years. The researcher verified data through a process of close reading and comparison across multiple factors eliminating responses with incomplete or …

Resolving Drug Manufacturer Liability For Generic Drug Warning Label Defects., Frank Scaglione
Resolving Drug Manufacturer Liability For Generic Drug Warning Label Defects., Frank Scaglione
St. Mary's Law Journal
Although generic drugs are beneficial to consumers because they are offered as a more cost effective alternative to brand-name prescriptions, brand-name manufacturers are vulnerable to potential lawsuits because of generic drugs. Under the Drug Price Competition and Patent Term Restoration Act of 1984 (Hatch-Waxman Act), generic manufacturers are able to quickly enter the market following the termination of a brand-name drug’s patent. As a result of the Hatch-Waxman Act, 75% of all drugs on the market are generic. The Hatch-Waxman Act, however, also requires generic drug manufacturers to duplicate the brand-name drug’s warning label. As an unintended consequence, injuries have …

Genrifying The School Library's Fiction Collection, Andrea Hora
Graduate Research Papers
Genrification, or the act of organizing a library or section of a library by genres or topics, has been a trend in recent years in both school and public libraries. Little to no research has been conducted on the effectiveness of this transition from the Dewey Decimal System in fiction and or nonfiction collections. The purpose of this research is to explore the usefulness of a genrified fiction collection in a school library by examining how students interact with the collection along with teachers’ perceptions of genrifying. This study focused on student browsing behavior in a genrified fiction collection and …

Poverty And Homelessness : A Content Analysis Of Children's Nonfiction Literature, Christine Newell
Graduate Research Papers
Units taught in social studies and language arts that address family issues, neighborhoods, communities, economic diversity, and social issues need to address the struggles, challenges, and fears of children living in poverty or who are homeless. Depictions of poverty and homelessness should be handled with accuracy and sensitivity. Connections made through the use of literature can help all students develop an understanding about the world around them and help them begin to realize the struggles of those who live in poverty.
This study of K-6 nonfiction books about poverty and homelessness investigated how these social problems were depicted in the …
