Gwu Hosts High School Play Festival, Promotes Theatre Arts, Sthefany Flores

Gardner-Webb opened its doors to 12 high schools for the annual North Carolina Theatre Conference (NCTC) High School Play Festival on Nov. 6 and 7. High school theatre groups presented their 45 minute theatre productions, and two plays—“Love Sick” by Hopewell High School and “Fighting Demons” by Lake Norman High School—moved on to the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC).

The Anchor: 2015

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Annually, the Delegation of the European Union (EU) in Washington, D.C., holds an embassy open house day for its 27 member nations to celebrate European culture and educate tourists on the functions of EU politics and international relations. Amidst an ongoing debt crisis and a continuing exploration of its identity as a supranational entity, “Embassy Day” affords an opportunity to see the EU as a spatial network uneasily caught in the tensions between the often nostalgic nationalism of its constituent countries and the future-oriented technocratic transnationalism of its composite alliance. Empowering Women: The Social Impact Of Vision Care Technician Training, Jana Lee

Miller Center Fellowship

Since 2002, the Vision Care Technician program has continually worked to recruit bright young women from rural villages to engage in comprehensive training in ophthalmic nursing. Two Global Social Benefit Fellows collected both qualitative and quantitative data by interviewing a large cohort of student and staff Vision Care Technicians in different phases of the program. In order to document the social impact of two cohorts, this comparative analysis intends to further understand how the Vision Care Technician program has impacted women’s lives.
