With the widespread use of learning analytics tools, there is a need to explore how these technologies can be used to enhance teaching and learning. Little research has been conducted on what human processes are necessary to facilitate meaningful adoption of learning analytics. Community Food Security Strategies: An Exploratory Study Of Their Potential For Food Insecure Households With Children, Michelle L. Kaiser, Kareem Usher, Colleen Spees

Journal of Applied Research on Children: Informing Policy for Children at Risk

This research sought to explore nutrition and related health issues of 151 households with children who participated in a survey addressing food access, food security, nutrition, health, food provisioning strategies, and barriers to optimal food consumption. This study explored the potential use of community food security strategies as a tool to address public health concerns through increasing fruit and vegetable intake by improving access to affordable healthy foods. Poor diet, stress, and food insecurity impacts adults and children in terms of cognitive development, mental health, and risk for costly chronic diseases. Penelitian pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengembangkan model tes minat dan bakat dengan metode jaringan syaraf tiruan; (2) memperoleh hasil uji fungsionalitas tes minat dan bakat yang dikembangkan dengan model Jaringan Syaraf Tiruan (JST); dan (3) memperoleh hasil unjuk kerja dari pengujian tes minat dan bakat dengan model jaringan syaraf tiruan untuk memprediksi potensi siswa bidang robotika. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan perangkat penilaian guna mengevaluasi capaian employability skills yang diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran aplikasi basis data. Model penilaian yang dikembangkan merupakan kombinasi dari penilaian diri sendiri dan penilaian otentik, diusulkan dengan sebutan model authentic self-assessment. Langkah-langkah pengembangan model authentic self-assessment meliputi penentuan standar, penentuan tugas otentik, pembuatan kriteria, dan pembuatan rubrik. Hasil pengembangan perangkat penilaian terdiri atas: (1) model penilaian kemampuan pemecahan masalah; (2) model penilaian kemampuan mengelola diri sendiri; dan (3) model penilaian capaian pembelajaran aplikasi basis data. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap: (1) persepsi siswa tentang kompetensi mengajar guru, pola asuh orang tua, motivasi berprestasi siswa, kelengkapan sarana prasarana praktik, dan prestasi belajar teori kejuruan; (2) pengaruh keempat variabel bebas secara sendiri-sendiri maupun bersamasama terhadap variabel terikat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian ex-post-facto, dilaksanakan di empat SMK se-Kabupaten Sleman. Populasi 205 siswa kelas XII Teknik Komputer dan Jaringan T.A 2014-2015. Shale development, which uses the controversial energy extraction technique of hydraulic fracturing, is on the rise in America, with industries recently investigating the New Albany shale play in southern Illinois and western Kentucky. We ask: what do community leaders in this region think about shale development generally, and how do they come to their decisions? To answer these questions, we interviewed eighteen community leaders, twelve of whom were proponents of shale development. Journal of Rural Social Sciences

With scientific consensus regarding the occurrence of climate variability and climate change it is clear that farmers can benefit from science-based adaptation strategies for managing climate-related risk. To this end, cooperative extension professionals must engage in climate training events that are carefully planned and tailored to their specific needs. This study consisted of 50 interviews with extension professionals from four states (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina) and collected information about the perceptions of climate variability and change as well as the preferred approaches for climate-related training in extension. Should ‘Public Reason’ Developed Under Us Establishment Clause Jurisprudence Apply To Australia?, Anthony K. Thompson

The University of Notre Dame Australia Law Review

John Rawls’ idea of public reason holds that comprehensive doctrines including religion should not be allowed a voice in the public square. Such ideas prevent society achieving that ‘overlapping consensus’ which is said to be a requirement for enduring peace and progress. However, the suggestion that some ideas should be excluded from public debate is anti-democratic. This article reviews Rawls’ idea of public reason’ against its US legal context and suggests it was a response to US Supreme Court decisions concerning their First Amendment. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan letak dan jenis kesulitan belajar matematika mahasiswa pendidikan matematika. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian campuran dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa pendidikan matematika di Universitas Jambi yang mengalami kesulitan belajar matematika pada mata kuliah Kapita Selekta Matematika Sekolah Menengah II. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes diagnostik dan pedoman wawancara. Letak kesulitan belajar matematika dilihat berdasarkan kesalahan/kesulitan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan tes diagnostik. Mahasiswa yang dikategorikan mengalami kesulitan diwawan-carai untuk memperoleh konfirmasi mengenai jenis kesulitan belajar matematika.
