Local Government Units As Potential Partners In Maximizing The Effectiveness Of Service-Learning Programs Of Universities In Central Philippines, Eric Loretizo May 2015

Local Government Units As Potential Partners In Maximizing The Effectiveness Of Service-Learning Programs Of Universities In Central Philippines, Eric Loretizo

Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Service-Learning 亞太地區服務研習會議

Reciprocity, as one of the principles of Service-Learning, entails mutuality in the implementation of an S-L program. One of the facets of mutuality is on the concern on the choice of a community, which serves as program host. The choice is critical to the success or failure of the program.

Universities and colleges have tested-and-proven mechanisms for the selection and sustenance of their community service hosts. Many of them are, however, constrained in maximizing their efforts due to either lack of manpower, resources or even the time to look into potential areas and fields of service. This may be true …

Exploring The Relationship Between Preadmission Factors And Dental School Student Success, Nadege J. Dady

Seton Hall University Dissertations and Theses (ETDs)

This quantitative study assessed the preadmission factor relationship to success at a graduate dental school. Preadmission factors are used nationally to assess student ability. There are concerns about the reliability of these factors in measuring URM student ability. 1,275 records were collected and assessed for those admitted between the years 1998-2009. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to assess the relationship of the pre admission variables to the continuous variable Dental School GPA. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to assess the relationship of the pre admission variables to the dichotomous categorical variables of Licensure Obtainment and Degree Awarded Status. Based …

Ang Buhay Sa Nayon-Life In The Valley: An Oral History Project With The Shenandoah Living Archive, Hannah Moses

Masters Theses, 2010-2019

Ang Buhay sa Nayon/Life in the Valley, is an oral history project consisting of twenty-three interviews with seventeen Filipino Americans from the Shenandoah Valley. These video oral histories, including transcripts and donated photographs, are now part of the Shenandoah Living Archive at James Madison University. This oral history collection is also showcased in a digital exhibit: http://sites.jmu.edu/lifeinthevalley/. The website touches on a myriad of aspects of Filipino American life, but strives overall to put the interviewees’ experiences in historical context and to understand how Filipinos have formed a community in rural Virginia.

The Inclusion Of Women’S Health In Sustainable Medical Mission Trip Models: A Pa Student’S Perspective, Jillian G. Goles Jan 2015

The Inclusion Of Women’S Health In Sustainable Medical Mission Trip Models: A Pa Student’S Perspective, Jillian G. Goles

VA Engage Journal

Like many disadvantaged countries around the world, Nicaragua is visited by numerous medical missions each year. The efficacy of these missions relies on the organization’s relationship with the communities they serve. Although the general goal of all medical missions is to ultimately help underserved populations, many missions inadvertently do harm. Two critical causes of such inadvertent harm are lack of sustainable practices and failure to form a long-term relationship with the communities. Shenandoah University’s Physician Assistant Program has worked tirelessly to form an ideal medical mission model and relationship with El Ayudante, a local non-government humanitarian organization, and the local …
