The Parthenon, Marshall University’s student newspaper, was published by students Monday through Friday during the regular semester and weekly on Thursdays during the summer. Due to budgetary constraints, beginning with the 2015 Fall semester, the newspaper is only published four days a week. There is no issue on Mondays, physical issues are printed on Tuesdays and Fridays, and online issues only are published on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The editorial staff is responsible for the news and the editorial content.

This is an evaluation of the Help Everyone Achieve Livelihood (H.E.A.L.) summer youth program for refugees between the ages of 14 and 21. Research into the issue of refugee youth not having sufficient public service programs available to aid in the transition to life in the US was examined in the literature review. Previous research suggests summer programs help form the bridge between the home culture and new culture of refugee youth. The H.E.A.L. program offers a variety of services to their clients which includes cultural orientation, job building, and ESL classes. The program runs six weeks during the summer …

Violent and property crimes are of serious consequences across the world, the US and Texas. This research reports the findings of an exploratory study that assessed the relationships between different community resources – jobs and vocational training resources, advocacy resources, law enforcement resources, mental health and substance abuse resources, recreational resources, and social service and parenting resources and both violent and property crimes in 254 counties in Texas. This cross-sectional study was conducted based on a 2012 secondary data of 254 counties in Texas. Data for the independent variables were derived from the US Census Bureau and KIDS COUNT data …

This case study evaluated the cost of quality (CoQ) for Civil Engineering Design Services (CEDS) in an Alaska based firm. The firm currently lacks a mature Quality Management System (QMS), which is needed to control and measure CoQ. As a means to justify the implementation of a QMS Feigenbaum quality costs were captured from historical job data and used to develop a Juran and Gryna Optimum Quality Cost Model. Canadian Forum on Civil Justice

Since the mid-1990’s there have been at least twenty-six large-scale national surveys on the public’s experience of justiciable events conducted within sixteen separate jurisdictions. Twenty-four of these surveys have utilized the methodological framework of Hazel Genn’s Paths to Justice (1999). Genn’s approach seeks to examine legal needs beyond what may be identified by respondents as a legal need. This approach emerged due to critiques of previous legal needs research that only sought to identify persons who were likely to use legal services rather than the types of problems that are taken to lawyers.
